EasyJet. if you hand luggage goes in the hold What happens to Hand Bag and Medicines

I concur that EasyJet should put a precise ruling on their website to clarify this issue. I am aware of a lady, who was refused to be allowed to take her handbag on the aircraft which she had to put in the hold with her cabin baggage, However she was given a small plastic bag to take on board her passport, money etc. This incident occured at Gibraltar airport, so maybe the overseas staff are not aware exactly what is and what is not permitted, If it was on the website then you could take a copy with you.0

My wife would go ballistic if EasyJet tried to put her hanbag in the hold. She always makes sure it fits in her cabin baggage when we have flown by EasyJet which has not been for 18 months now. We did not realise they had changed the rules about the size of cabin baggage guaranteed to go on board with you. It would be useful if they amended their website to say what would happen to hanbags and medicines if you previously allowed size of hand luggage was put in the hold.0

The size is on the A4 printed boarding pass, so they could've shown that to the staff at GIB.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I find EasyJet to be the best of low cost airlines and have had no complaints so far. You must read and obey their rules. I have absolutely no problems with this as long as they are clearly laid out. I therefore do agree that there is a need for them to clarify what you will be allowed to take out of the " Larger" size cabin baggage, which is still accepted without extra charge if it is put in the hold due to lack of space on the aircraft. Specifically it should refer to handbags, medicines and any sandwiches etc you have purchased/made to eat on the flight. I think asking EasyJet put this in wrtiing or on the website is only fair then there can be no doubt in case of any disputes.0

Best thing is to have a folding bag that you can take out of your large bag just in case things happen.
The folding bag must satisfy the guaranteed smaller one bag rules that are on the website and the A4 boarding pass that you may have printed yourself.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Have EasyJet issued a statement either on their website or elsewhere on this issue. We are aware that it is only on some instances they take your cabin baggage off you and put in the hold at no extra charge, but we want to prepared in case they do. Basically if they take this action what can you remove from your cabin baggage an actually take aboard with you.Is it limited to certain object or based on size. we have tried contacting EasyJet but so far have not managed to speak to any member of staff that is able clarify.0

I think that's the point of the thread.
Nowhere (that I've seen) does it say that in the event your hand luggage has to go in the hold, that you can remove certain items and take them on board.
I think we all agree that common sense would suggest that this would be allowed, but nowhere is this categorically stated.
Yes, exactly. Nowhere is this stated (apart from in richardw's post)Have EasyJet issued a statement either on their website or elsewhere on this issue. The horse's mouth says
"Guaranteed size cabin bag: keep essentials and valuables with you
Updated 06/06/2013
We know that many customers want to make sure they keep essentials and valuables with them during the flight. Our challenge is that, as more people choose to fly with us, our cabin space becomes more limited. The guaranteed size bag, which is only a few centimetres smaller than the maximum size bag, will fit comfortably under the seat in front if there is no space in the overhead locker. This means we can offer customers the service they want, while managing pressure on cabin space and ensuring that flights continue to board as quickly and smoothly as possible."

Each and every passenger can take a guaranteed size bag on board that can go under the seat in front of you.
I've seen the cabin crew give an orange plastic bag to a passenger so they could get their valuables out of their bag and put it in the orange plastic bag, before the large bag went in the hold.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
