Well done! You might find, that when you store it, salt crystals form on the surface. Just give it a good knead, and it'll be fine, again.

Awww glad they liked it!! My son's too old at seven for playdough but I've offered to make some for a friend's three year old as she says life is 'too short' to make it when you can buy it, so I said I'll show her how easy it is (and I get an excuse to knead lovely soft warm squidgy playdough :j )2025 - Declutter to Move House

I use
1 mug salt
2 mugs plain flour
2 mugs cold water
2 tblsp cream of tartar
2 tbsp vegetable oil
food colouring
Then mix it altogether in a bowl and put it in the mircowave for 2 mins stir, 2 mins stir and 2 mins then tip it out onto silver foil to cool.
It is the recipe I use in school and lasts well, I find the bowl is easier to clean then the pan.
You can also add alsorts of struff to it, cocca powder makes it like chocolate just donlt eat it. Also glitter is fun I have heard of some people putting jelly in to it for a different texture.0 -

I've just made some from another recipe I found on here (I printed it out a while ago, and can't find the thread...).
Anyhow, does anyone know how to get blue food colouring out of your hands :rotfl:

I used to make this for my kids and it's just like the stuff you buy.
KayJay - 7 is not too old! My kids would probably still play with it if I could be bothered to make it....they used to have rollers and cutters and it would be HOURS of peace and quiet- bargain!Up Jacob's Creek without a paddle!0 -
Thanks a million for reminding me about playdough -used to make it a lot when the thriftlings were tiddlers but dd aged 7 would still love it. She's proving to be a major pain this summer, so I'll give the playdough an outing next week before I resort to beating
It's mentioned in The Tightwad Gazette -Amy Dacyczyn colours it all different colours including camouflage. I bet if I did that my 10 yo ds would play with it. Paste food colourings are best as they are more intense and better value for money. I think I'll do a range of pinks and purples for dd0 -
