Don't do what someone i know did....... add almond oil to make it smell nice................ The next day 24 tots at playgroup thought they had marzipan as a treat! ::)0
-
when it starts to go hard, add 1 tbsp oil, warm in micro and voila, nice and soft again.0

this recipe's great, if you don't like washing pans! it just uses boiling water and there's no cooking. the dough comes out a brilliant texture too.
Keep it in the fridge, tho', to make it last longer.

Another easy thing for pre-schoolers, instead of playdough:
put pile of cornflour in middle of table and dribble in just enough cold water to let the kids make a loverly goo!!. Add food colouring if you want too.
This makes a fascinating mixture, where the water runs off the cornflour, leaving dry crumbly bits, which they then love to mix up all again.
BEWARE: VERY VERY MESSY ( therefore, great fun!)0 -
we've done the cornflour in a bowl, kids love the way you can pour it but when you punch it its hard.0

home-made playdough is MUCH cheaper too. Goes down well at car-boot sales too, if you want to make a few extra squid.
Baby toys: you can make your own cheaper ( and far more interesting) substitutes at home. e.g. home-made baby-gym:
I made the inside of a very large cardboard box ( e.g pc monitor type) really cosy with blankets etc..place on floor on it's side, and suspend different household objects ( make sure they're safe tho) from ribbons fixed thro holes in the top.
Much better than the bought kind, cos you can put picture/mirror on the sides too, and keep changing the range of objects you hang up!0 -
My recipe says don't use a non stick pan?0
