You are the only other person I've 'met' who's had a trachelectomy, thanks for the message. I had my op in December 2012 and was also told to wait 6 months. We started TTC in August. My consultant hasn't said much about it to be honest but I have only had one appointment since then and had only just started TTC really, so will bring it up this month when I go as I know the odds are not in my favour. I'm in Worcestershire but was referred to Coventry for the op as my PCT don't offer it. Do you mind me asking, were you TTC before your diagnosis? I feel like I have a million questions to ask you! Happy to receive a PM but also happy to share on here, I found so little info online, especially from the UK.
Sorry to hear about your last IVF, hope there is something else that can be done?
Thanks again for getting in touch, really appreciate it x
Me too! Hello fellow Worcester-ite :jBaldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0 -
Congratulations Paula
T2D - I actually read your blog, I found it during my recovery, but didn't know you posted on here (obviously). I would say small world but as you say there aren't that many of us around! I think I was a bit in denial about it all to be honest, as soon as my op was over I threw away all the info the hospital had given me and just tried to pretend it hadn't happened. All I wanted to know at the time was "can you fix it and how quickly?" I definitely need to speak to my consultant in more depth and think about the next steps now. Was the stenosis picked up as part of the post op check ups or the IVF? My consultant has so far said everything is healing well but that's only from exams so far, nothing more invasive.
It sounds like you have really had a tough timenot sure what to say without sounding really patronising to be honest but will absolutely be keeping everything crossed for you.

I suspected something was wrong after the operation. I had 2 normal periods, then they stopped for 3 months. But, I'm pretty sure they were still happening just being stuck inside. I had a massive haemmorage/bleed one day at work. I felt something warm and next thing I knew I was covered in blood, despite rushing to the bathroom. Thank god I was wearing black! Oh what fun memories those are!
But, terrible as it sounds to 'normal' people, I was pleased in the end as I was worried things had completely stopped. Then I had normal'ish periods. Very short, and very painful. When I went to do IVF a few months later they did the dildocam scan and found there was blood in the uterus. So I was bleeding, but not enough. And that blood meant that even if there was an embryo it couldn't implant. So get it checked. V painful periods tends to mean there could be a problem, as your body is working hard to try to clear things out.
The other girl I know TTC also has problems with limited stenosis too, so it's an idea to get it checked. Even if it's not blocked, the opening is smaller and harder for those little sperm to get to.
I know what you mean about it being hard to accept. I've struggled to accept that the IVF isn't working. The doctors wouldn't let me start for ages, and now are saying this problem accessing the uterus is also a big problem. They all feel like such small issues to me! I want to say 'Just ignore that! Lets just go ahead'. But I guess the problems are real, which is very frustrating.
It's funny that you had already seen the blog! Nice to 'meet' you here - it's somehow quite exciting to meet people who understand things more.0 -
Actually I had quite a fight to get my consultant to accept the stenosis was real. He said it looked fine, but the IVF clinic said it wasn't. And that went back and forth about 3 times before I made them call each other and sort it out! They couldn't see the stenosis during colsposcopy, and only accepted it when the consultant actually saw the ultrasound image on the retained blood.0

Pinzy, unless you have perfect 28 day cycles, my understanding that it is not that you ovulate 14 days after one af starts, but rather 14 days before the next. So if you ovulate on about day 9, does that mean the next af comes on around day 23? That would make sense. But as you say everyone is different. I don't seem to ovulate until day 19 ish and have 32 day cycles. But I'm pretty sure what I said is right and it is not meant to be 14 days after af, but 14 days before af. Someone else correct me if I am wrong!
!
This is correct
Pinzy ignore the cd14 stuff unless you have perfect cycles.
If we all ovulated on cd14 there would be no need for opks, cm checking, temping etc!0 -
