Hi everyone, really pleased that I found this thread. We got married in Oct and have now decided to think about ttc. I just wondered did any of you ladies visit the doc before ttc. Was there anything you changed/supplements you started taking etc?

I didn't visit the doctor but I started taking a pre-conception multivitamin that contains folic acid. I don't think the vitamin is necessary but the folic acid is really important. As for changing things...in theory I am trying to get healthier and lose weight but then Christmas happened! :o

Welcome to the thread and good luck :)

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me saying hello and joining you all :)

I'm 26, me and my bf have been together for 8 and half years, and have been ttc since sept 2013, when I came off the pill, like a lot of newbies to the ttc world i thought soon as i'm off the pill i'll get pregnant, how wrong was I!

ive been reading this thread past few months so thought id say hello, first month ttc I went all out with opk every day, then pregnancy tests and i got a bit stressed with it all so after first month i haven't bothered with opk's because i get a bit obsessed with them, i can usually tell when im ovulating due to ewcm (sorry tmi) and use fertility friend which gives a rough estimate of most fertile/ovulation dates so we try and bd every other day from when it says im most fertile.

I thought id caught this month, i was so excited thinking I was pregnant i had a small bleed a few days before af was due which i thought could be implantation bleeding, then my period was so so light the first day which isnt like me at all, but next day af arrived full whack :( so im currently cd2, ive decided to buy some pre-seed this month quite a few seem to rate it, although its quite pricey! are any of you using this?

sorry for rambling! good luck to everyone for this month! *baby dust for all*

congratulation to paula, that deffo looks like a BFP to me! :D

Hello welcome to the thread :)

When I visited my doc she said to eat healthily, and mentioned folic acid, which I was already taking in the form of pregnacare conception anyway.

I think the main thing is folic acid at the ttc stage, but i take the all in one so i get a bit of everything!

I agree Paula, I can clearly see a line and would also do a digital if I was you just to put my mind at rest - and also because I think I would just like to see it :D

Thanks for doing the lists Kelly as always. Am I too late to add my guess of 5 bfps for Jan?

Have any of you ladies tried the Balance Activ spray from Boots? I was looking for pre seed on the website but this seems to be the only version they do. I've been reading a lot about pregnancy after trachelectomy and have reached the logical conclusion that no cervix = no CM = need to invest in some help! Where do you buy pre seed / conceive plus from?

    Hey Shrimpy,

I'm a looooong timer here, and post on the 12+m thread. Was just having a quick look here, and noticed you've had a trachelectomy. It's not a word I come across often!

Just thought I'd let you know that I had the same operation for cervical cancer in Feb last year. We were told to wait 6 months, and since then I've been trying IVF. The 'easy option' I've heard.. ;)

Anyway, worth keeping in touch as there can't be too many of us! My last IVF failed, in fact just wasn't completed, as they couldn't get access to the uterus. There is a high risk of stenosis after the trach, so be aware of that. My FS said there is very little chance of natural conception, and you MUST use pre-seed or something as you are right you won't produce enough EWCM for things to work naturally. Who did your surgery? Are you in London?

Feel free to PM if you'd prefer :)

    Hi time2deal

You are the only other person I've 'met' who's had a trachelectomy, thanks for the message. I had my op in December 2012 and was also told to wait 6 months. We started TTC in August. My consultant hasn't said much about it to be honest but I have only had one appointment since then and had only just started TTC really, so will bring it up this month when I go as I know the odds are not in my favour. I'm in Worcestershire but was referred to Coventry for the op as my PCT don't offer it. Do you mind me asking, were you TTC before your diagnosis? I feel like I have a million questions to ask you! Happy to receive a PM but also happy to share on here, I found so little info online, especially from the UK.

Sorry to hear about your last IVF, hope there is something else that can be done?

Thanks again for getting in touch, really appreciate it x

Yeah, we have been trying for almost 2 years on and off. I was actually going for IVF, and they make you do a range of tests before - like HIV, HepB and confirm you are up to date on smears. I was due one... and the rest you are probably aware of. I was diagnosed in December 2012, and had the trach in late Feb.

I know two other girls who have had the trach. One has had a recurrance sadly in the lymph nodes and had to move onto chemo/rads, and the other is also TTC. I have had people get in touch with me as I did a blog. Here: https://alittlebitofcancer.wordpress.com/about/

It is always nice to find people in the same boat! We are rare ladies. There are not that many who have had the operation, and ever fewer who are TTC so nice to keep in touch.

My last IVF didn't fail in the normal sense, I have more frozen embryos as they just stopped it halfway through. It was actually really tough though - harder than I expected as I'd spent months getting ready, including another operation to deal with the stenosis from scar tissue, and it was all going so well. Then suddenly stopped, and the FS told me to think about surrogacy.

I was a mess, to say the least. But trying again, after another minor operation, and the docs are optimistic. I'm trying to keep calm about it all, and not get excited, as my heart can't take another day like last time when it was stopped.
