Hi all,
Been to see my FS today regarding the 'abnormal' CD21 blood results. He wasn't concerned about the high progesterone, but more the repeated prolactin, as it is still high (793)
Because of this, he is sending me for an MRI scan to check the pituitary gland in the brain, as increased prolaction could indicate a tumour. He did also stress that it could also be caused by a variety of other things (PCOS) and can be treated quite simply with medication, but he likes to be thorough and is going to check everything. Even if it is a tumour on the gland, dependant on the size it could still be treated by medication, but worse case scenario, surgery. He said not to worry as in all his career he has never once come across it.
He has completed paperwork for me to be booked for an MRI scan and also referred me to an endocrinologist which is a specialist in that field.
Our next appointment with him regarding fertility will be in Feb next year - with the view that all of this will be sorted by then. He said that all being well at that point he will refer us for IVF.
I asked if the increased Prolactin could have been preventing me getting pregnat and he said it would, so we may have found the reason for the natural method not working for us.
After the appointment we went to the reception to book in for the scan, she said it could be around 6-8 weeks wait! but I remembered that I have private healthcasre for work, which I assume wont cover infertility but may cover the MRI scan and the consultant - so I am going to try and push for that asap as I would struggle to wait 6-8 weeks, as I am bit of a hyponchondraic
Hope everyone else is ok - hugs to all who need it!0 -
Just had a rant on the thread about the woman who has 4 kids and is thinking of just "having" another.
Receives handouts from the government with the 4 they have.
Makes me :mad:0 -

I saw the beginning of that and stopped reading. To avoid having a meltdown on the thread LOL!
I went for my day 21 (on my day 19) bloods today.... poor arms are bruised - nurse couldnt find a good vein  So got pretty prodded! And was then 10 mins later to work than i said i would be so got snipey comments and funny looks all day. I HATE my job.
Nurse said the locum i saw was rubbish and bad (not in so many words tho lol) for not getting me to arrange a follow up appointment from bloods and said it was poor that the doc hadnt explained anything about what they were actually testing for ...... Hey ho - so made appointment there and then for female specialist dr in practice - appt for next wednesday so hope the bloods will be back by then as they didnt say how long for results :cool:Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0 -
bigmomma - glad they found some blood eventually! Also glad that you had a decent nurse that explained the things the dr should have done. Hope the results are ok.
littleme - I'm sure half these threads are wind-ups. Agree with you about that one though, very annoying!
danielley - hope you manage to get the MRI sorted soon via your private cover. Sounds like there's a lot going on - but also that your FS is on the ball and checking for lots of things so that's probably quite positive overall.
skint catt - glad the scans went ok.
part mouse - thinking of you x. Has the bleeding stopped yet?
T2D - how's things?
code - hope you and your OH are ok x.
I feel sick this morning. That should really only be allowed in pg, not CD13. Having lots of endo problems in the last few weeks, think all these years of being off the pill (and IVF meds) are causing havoc in there. Can only imagine how bad things will be after another round... not sure my bowel can take it!0 -
Glad to see that it wasn't just me that got  at the thread!
Anyway, according to the gospel that is the Daily Mail (;)) the answer to men's fertility problems is......
eat more frikking carrot
!!!!!! who writes this stuff?0 -

Hello ladies
Juston my way to work after IVF app. Peonie - you're right - I will start it all end of November and will probs be Jan when they do egg collection etc.
Feeling a bit blue - the FSH test was fine. So there is absolutely nothin wring with either of us. So why the hell won't it happen naturally?
It's all getting a bit real. I'm frightened of the journey ahead.0 -
Little me, gp isn't doing anything, the hosp sent an email to her but not heard anything, there pretty useless anyway just waiting for my fs appt next week.
Wtdn, not been on the IVF journey myself yet but huge hugs to you.0
