WW: It might be worth a call to the clinic just to make sure it's not OHSS. I knew it wouldn't be for me with my poor response, but it's a possibility for you.
Ok...if I were symptom spotting, which of course I'm not, but if I were, I'd possibly take note that my cervix has gone really high and soft (still feels a little open though), and that my boobs seem to have become a little sensitive and tender.
But of course I wouldn't dare to SS, would I?0 -
WW I didn't have any symptoms after egg retrival so I can only echo what Derby said and call the clinic about possible OHSS.
Hugs PM. Is there any other FS you can talk to at the clinic?
Peonie we did have 1 appointment before starting IVF although a lot was squeezed into it: FS consultation, chat with nurse, BMI check, injection demo & paperwork. As we are NHS patients the clinic couldn't do any extra tests prior to treatment so it was straight into IVF. Although everything happened quickly we didn't feel rushed as we'd spent the previous six months researching & discussing treatment options. We wanted to get started running into the Christmas shutdown.
Feeling better this week; DH & I have spent a lot of time discussing our situation and future plans. We're looking forward to our review appointment with the FS as we think we know what the problem is. I hope the FS agrees and can help us resolve it.The biscuit will only dare to be just a biscuit when it is with its true friend the potato. (Edward Monkton) :beer:0 -
hi lovely ladies -
Derby - when is your test day? It's ok to be hopeful, we all are for you! xx
T2D - great about the op! It was Star who's DH did the sperm thing, not mine. Love that you almost spat out your tea though!
Re the private treatment. I was happy to st*ck my morals and go private, DH was not. So we compromised, by paying for treatment at the NHS clinic, so all the money gets ploughed back into the ACS unit. We saw the same Dr & Nurses as we would have if we were NHS. Worth a look to see if your clinic does the same? You would essentially be paying to see the same Dr as you would on the NHS. I also tried to justify it to myself by saying I was saving the NHS money which could be used to help someone who was not in as fortunate a position as we were to be able to go private for some treatment. Does that make sense, I'm rambling a bit now......

HA! When you DH does the same thing you can tell him I foretold it.
I have no such principles for NHS! My clinic doesn't do NHS I don't think (not sure... maybe if you live in Chelsea). I provide an extremely high level of funding to the NHS through the joys of the tax system. I know that's a much bigger subject, but I am SURE I'm a net contributor to the state these days!
My insurance company, on the other hand, hate how much I cost them.Especially as I work for them too. So far this year I have cost them 4months of sick leave, massive health costs, and 2 property insurance claims. Plus an additional illness payment to help me with day-to-day costs. oh well - didn't claim for many years before!

Just had my CD3 blood test results back showing raised prolactin levels. Need to do test again to see if still high, then my Dr needs to take advice from an endocrinologist if so. Have no idea what this means for me & the bloody wait until next week for the retest is going to kill me0

Hi Skint- I had raised prolactin levels earlier this year. On the whole it's nothing to worry about, it's just a pain in the butt because of the extra waiting it causes. Loads of things can increase your prolactin levels- stress (Dr: are you stressed? Me: Duh! infertile here!
), some anti-depressants (I was on prozac at the time of my tests- that can raise your prolactin) and loads of other things up to and including a prolactinoma.
Depending on your next levels you might have to have an MRI with an injected contrast dye. If that shows a prolactinoma (benign pituitary tumour) then they do a further couple of blood tests as a day case in hospital. Basically they inject pituitary/ thyroid stimulating hormones into you and then take blood samples every 20 or so minutes for 90 minutes. You get the results back from that quite quickly- especially if you harass the secretary (I'm not ashamed to admit this has all made me a right pest to staff...). I've got a non-hormone responsive prolactinoma, didn't know anything about it until IVF came along, doesn't affect me in any way and I've been discharged from the endocrinologist back to the IVF clinic. Treatments for it tend to be hormonal tablets to balance everything out.
I hope that's not TMI- I always feel better knowing what the next steps are than stewing and googling terrible scenarios!0 -

You're a bloody star!
Thanks for that! I didn't really know where to start with 'Dr Google' & probably best that I don't anywayI can't thank you enough for typing all that out - really helpful
I am on a mild anti-depressant & was probably a bit more stressed than normal when my blood test was done as I'd already taken my toddler to the GP that morning with suspected chest infection. Never rains but it pours :rotfl: The next test will be interesing.
