I hope everyone's OK I'm starting to feel like a whale, but I am eating like one! Really need to lay off the mini eggs lol. OH doesn't care though, he loves my curves and is more thinking about the fact my libido is finally coming back :rotfl:

Ooh I'm next for the scan! Yay! :j it's next Monday.
I know I cheated by having one at 15 weeks with the Amnio, but I'm really looking forward to it nevertheless.

Does anyone have a home Doppler? I'm considering getting one as husbands parents are a bit older so hearing the heartbeat would be new to them. I think I'm past when I'd obsessively check and worry, so it might be nice.

  • Congrats Firey!

Welcome creditcrunch & Plantpot - lovely to see you here! Although Im 24 weeks tomorrow (finally realising that yes Im going to have a baby!) so Ill be off to the next thread soon...

Sounds worrying Plantpot - glad it all turned out ok :)

Robots - I saw a place on ebay that hires dopplers - that could b e an option if you only wanted one for a month so people could hear heartbeat etc .

Right - off to work I go! Sure I counted only 40 something working days to go!

Good luck for scan on Monday robots, my rescan is next friday hoping I'll get a nicer sonographer who will get me nice pics and actually let me see my son on the screen for more than 5 seconds lol

Dopplers are great, I bought mine at 12 weeks (An Angelsounds one for £20 on Amazon) and used it every day. Although since I've been feeling movement, I have used it less. That said, I do still use it some days when I've been really busy all day as I only feel movement when I'm sat down for a bit.

At the midwife this morning, it was an extra appointment she put in due to low mood at 18 weeks. I should get my MATB1 today then can apply for maternity leave woop woop!!

    Hi again all,

Welcome to the newcomers! Wishing everyone a happy and uneventful few months.

Have added self to list above. SOOO worried about this pregnancy going wrong that I'd prefer not to disclose my due date yet - I haven't marked it on my own calendar or told ANYONE (apart from OH). Because if it all goes wrong somehow I think I'll feel better if I never acknowledged that baby was due... Hope it’s okay to keep it under wraps for the moment. Have added my 20 week scan date though - so you can have a pretty good guess!

Envious of ladies who got to hear a heartbeat at 16 weeks! The midwife I saw didn't mention this (even when I cried and explained I was very worried) and I didn't know to ask. It must be very reassuring to hear it!

No-one has mentioned anything to me about stopping my folic acid. But then no one's asked me where I'd like to give birth either!! Thanks for the replies about that - sorry for my very delayed reply. I read all your thoughts but then had less-than-good news from my consultant (see below) and got pretty spooked and ran away from this thread to hide for a bit. Silly, I know, because you're all so wonderfully supportive. But I really just wanted to retreat and think for a while. Was still reading this thread but didn’t feel able to contribute. Have pulled myself together now.

Anyway, an update: Saw my consultant (urologist) last week for my underlying medical condition which affects my kidneys. My test results were worse than they were in December, so the consultant recommended that we try another drug as the current one is not working. Problem is - I was taking this other drug that he’s now recommended when we conceived and the consultant obstetrician said I needed to stop it as soon as reasonable, and definitely before the third trimester because very serious (possibly lethal) complications can arise for baby when they’re born. I told the urologist this, who said that actually it was best to take this drug because the chance of complications is much lower than the chance of m/c or still birth if my condition isn’t under control. I’m not due to see the obstetrician again, so can’t go back to ask him about this new treatment plan. So… I have directly conflicting advice from two medical experts and was left to make a decision to either take medication that could seriously harm the baby, or to not take the medication and have a very high chance of m/c or still birth.

I’m taking the medication, and crossing my fingers. Hoping to review this decision as I enter the third trimester.

In the meantime – we’ve had an offer accepted on a house! So that’s good news. No expected completion dates yet but at least it’s some good news and a step in the right direction.

Sympathies to all feeling tired/sore/generally a bit rubbish. I am too, but it's not bad at the moment. Just getting comfortable would help a lot. Of course I worry than any back/tummy twinge is a resurgence of my kidney/bladder problems, so I just have to remind myself that it's probably normal!

Hope the sun's shining where ever you are.

    Bumblebee x

P.S. Sorry I sound quite so neurotic. I'm not about most things - But I do seem to be really rather paranoid about this pregnancy. Must calm down!
  • Hi ladies,

Congrats firey on a successful scan ! Yey for team pink !

I had a doc's appointment on friday and he did a sneeky scan to measure the cervix, but then abit extra so we could have a look at baby. The doc knows if it's a boy or a girl but we looked away as we want a surprise ! Baby was doing some crazy yoga positions !

I'm not sure if i can feel it moving yet, but i guess with all the yoga it's doing it must be quite relaxed ;)

My bump is still really discreet, but have started wearing the maternity jeans now.

Love to read all your news !

    Pomme, 18 weeks today !

Aww I'll see you there in a couple of weeks cllola! Good luck!

Midwife app went ok - bumblebee, my midwife stated from day one that she doesn't listen to the heartbeat at the 18 week appt, I was sad about that! She did listen to it today for the first time, I have a doppler at home but on her professional doppler it sounded much louder! BP is at a decent rate too now, it has been quite low (but still OK as it does go lower in pregnancy)

It sounds like you have good reason to be paranoid with the health issues, hope you are getting good support. I have had a pretty easy pregnancy so far with no issues and I've still shed tears of worry about a hundred times since my BFP!
