Good luck sunshine...will be lurking for news!
Had an embarassing incident on the bus this morning. I drive half way to work and then get the 'hospital hopper' into town as it is free for staff. anyway it was absolutely packed and i was standing up, about 20 minutes in everything went really blurry and i fainted. The woman who was stood behind me just happened to be a midwife and she got up into a seat and then took me to her office once we got to the hospital to make sure my blood pressure etc was ok. I felt fine once i had sat down and had a drink but it was very embarassing!0 -
Sunshine81 good luck for today!! I'm secretly hoping you're having a girl so you can join my little pink club
Teabag29 glad to hear your bleeding has stopped, I would say I'm looking forward to seeing you on this thread soon, but by the time you've moved up here, I'll have moved up to the next one, as I turn 24 weeks on Sunday!!
A bit scary really!! Can't I just stay on here for another week or two as a stowaway?!!
Moonbabe58 where do you get that stick from? I've been getting really bad headaches and paracetamol doesn't do anything for me given that before I got pregnant my body was used to a constant cocktail of pain relief due to my endometriosis. I need to try other stuff for these bloody headaches!!!
Wahhh 23 weeks + 4 days today! Where has the last 10 weeks gone?!!! We've got the surveyor going into the home today that we are buying to verify that the property is good for lending on. Feeling a bit nervous today. Just hoping after this gets done, things will start to move quicker. Just want to get in and start nesting now!!Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T

Becsxxx hope your cold gets better soon!
Omg cllola so glad you are ok now!! That must have been a bit scaryso good that there was a midwife there! Probably to do with low blood sugar?
I hate being on public transport and no one offering you a seat, thankfully I drive so I rarely use buses/trains these days, but I had to go up to London for a meeting on Tuesday and got on the train with my boss. Given my bump is now fairly large (and I on the whole am very small, so there should have been no confusion about me being pregnant) I was surprised when no one offered me a seat. I propped myself up on the luggage bit right next to everyone else sitting down and not a single person took notice of me, and the train wasn't even full - my boss and I were the only ones having to stand! When the train stopped at clapham junction a couple of business men got up and one having got up looked directly at me and said 'oh I'm ever so sorry I didn't realise there was a pregnant lady stood there' I made a point of replying, VERY loudly, to say 'I wouldn't bother apologising if I were you, seems no one offers pregnant women seats on trains anymore' - loads of people turned round and looked very embarrassed!!! Made me laugh!! My boss laughed too! Next time I think I shall be a little more bolshy about getting on and loudly asking if anyone would like to offer a pregnant lady a seat! Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T

Oh must also comment on the Facebook debate as it's quite an interesting one. I think I seem to be outnumbered on this thread in that my OH and I actually had lots of fun planning our Facebook announcement, but we always knew we wanted to do something slightly comical to announce it. We had a picture of the both of us sat next to the oven with a bun in there baking, pulling funny smiles and sticking our thumbs up, I was holding a picture of my scan photo and OH was holding a babygro. We made a huge sign above the oven which said 'due out May 2014' We had hundreds of likes and loads of people loved it!
I though did have the benefit of talking to my best friend about it first - her and her husband tried for a baby for almost 2 years before finally getting pregnant, and her big sister who I'm also close to had just had a miscarriage as well. My best friend without hesitation just said 'make your announcement, the people who love you will always be genuinely happy for you whatever they are going through' and her sister actually messaged me afterwards telling me how thrilled she was for us. So I don't feel guilty for it, and I'm glad we did it as it got it all out in one go (but of course we had told close family etc before separately anyway)
I think if you're on facebook there are always things people are going to post that you might not like to look at, one of my friends for example is a strict vegan and she always posts pictures of inside animal slaughter houses which are often VERY gruesome and quite upsetting. I simply keep scrolling when I come across a post from her which I don't like, I would never make a fuss about it - that's the nature of Facebook and everyone goes through their own things and has stuff that they post on there. I don't really have huge numbers of people on mine though, I'm one of those rare people who only has people on mine that I do still count as real life friends, rather than every single person I went to school with and their dogs
Anyway rightly or wrongly that's how I feel!!!Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T

I just got mine from the supermarket - I did have to ask at the pharmacy counter as I couldn't see it on the shelf though! It has been a godsend - instantly cools your head down and you can use it as much as you need to. The also do headache/migraine strips which are great if you are stuck at home with an all mighty headache!Expecting Baby No 1 - 20/06/14 - Team Yellow!0 -
Re: Facebook announcements - we told all of our family and close friends between 12 and 14 weeks. We also had a set of friends who were being induced at the time so we told them and then waited about a week or so after they had made their announcement to make ours.
On Xmas eve when we were around 15 weeks we posted a photo of our scan - with baby wearing a little santa hat - saying that we were more than happy to wait 5 months for our main present!
It may of been a little cheesy but we wanted to share it with everyone!Expecting Baby No 1 - 20/06/14 - Team Yellow!0 -
Moonbabe58 thanks for the 4head info - will be paying my supermarket a visit later!!
Love the sound of your announcement
I'm at home today, not due to my headache but hip pain againrushing to and from London on Tuesday due to a meeting seems to have set it off again
bit annoying because I've got another meeting in London next week to go to, as well as an awayday at the end of February in London, which I would really like to get out of but someone in our team has already been told in no uncertain terms that they will be cancelling their day of leave to attend, so I very much doubt me moaning about my hip will get me out of it
so annoying as I know it'll end up with several days in bed due to the hip pain, afterwards
Oh well only 65 working days left until my maternity leave....not that I'm counting or anythingOur first baby due 25th May 2014 :T

Hi everyone,
I'm sorry I don;t come on very often, and I just pop on and ask something when I do, I hope you don't mind
I'm 14 weeks now, so in the second tri and have been signed off by St Mary's RMC and am in my normal midwife care, but that means as I am a mum already that I don;t get many appointments and with my history of losses I'm feeling anxious.
I saw the GP today to ask about flying later in pregnancy - we want to go in May but I'll be over 28 weeks, but apparently we have to book it and then hope I am passed as fit to fly later! Does anyone know if travel insurance will cover it if I am not then allowed to fly and we have to cancel?
Also, while I was there I asked her to listen for the baby. I tried at home yesterday but hear somwething at 156 beats but not sure if it was placenta. It sounded like a breathy "hoo, hoo" rather than a horse.
I have an anterior placenta and a retroverted uterus so she wasn't hopeful, and she found a "hoo, hoo" sound that she said was the placenta. Then she said that if the placenta was working then the baby had to alive.
Is that true?
I mean, with a missed miscarriage doesn't everything keep working? I'm quite anxious and wondering if we can find £70 for a private scan as I don;t see the MW till 16 weeks and obviously the next scan isn;t till 20 weeks which is a long time away yet.
THanks for any help you can give me. Will try and have a read back now but need to fit a nap in before school pickup. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Oh, I forgot to say while I was sitting here on the sofa I felt something like being poked/stroked inside, quite low down on my left. Do you think that's the baby? It was a bit like how it feels when you have in internal, only in a different place. That can;t be wind can it? Isn;t it too early to feel movement? DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Hi skintchick just wanted to say hi although sorry because I'm rubbish and can't really offer you any answers to your questions.
With your travel insurance question I think every travel insurance company will have different policies, so you won't be able to get an answer on here I shouldn't think - you'll probably have to do a quick ringaround of a few companies and ask them what their policy is. Though if you're only 28 weeks I think unless anything goes wrong you should be ok to fly - I think they only start to worry at about 34 weeks ish.
It sounds like you're a worrier - like me! I spent most of the early weeks worrying constantly! If you saw your doctor yesterday and they reassured you that everything was fine with baby, and you're due to see your midwife in 2 weeks time (and mine let me listen to the heartbeat at my 16 week appointment), I would just hold off for two weeks and try not to overthink anything (easier said than done, I know) having said that if you can afford a private scan then go for it. We chose not to, but then because I'm high risk I've had 5 scans so far and I'm only 24 weeks, so there wasn't any need to pay for extra scans. I did have some agonising 2-3 week waits between scans/appointments though, so I know how you feel, you just have to try and give yourself a bit of a talking to, and switch off a bit - take it one day at a time, I found that helped my anxiety levels a lot.
Hugs!!! Oh and as for the movement you felt, I didn't feel anything until about 21 weeks ish, so I would say 14 weeks is probably too early to feel anything, but I'm sure others will come on and offer you their experiences also!!Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T
