Hi Derby, welcome to the thread - I know what you mean, spent ages trying not to let people know and then was shouting it from the rooftops after 12 weeks!

Sorry if TMI, but is anyone else really really excessively sweaty?!? Just feel minging all the time from about 5 mins after I get out of the shower at the moment!

    Hello ladies,

Can I please join? I'm only 13+3 but have just 'come out' at work and it feels very weird! Did any of your get that moment of panic? I guess it is just because it has been a secret for so long that it feels wrong to be telling people, even now!

I think it was a good thing I've told people...apparently some have picked up on my bump already. And I work with men so I thought I'd be completely under the radar!

I'll go back to lurking until I get a more impressive bump!

Hi Derby, welcome to the thread. I'm still panicking about telling people, and I'm 18+2!!:rotfl: But shortly after the 12week scan we had issues, so telling people still felt risky. I told a few more last weekend, after our Amnio results came back clear, and after hearing the heartbeat again yesterday I'm even more reassured... I have not announced on Facebook yet... And have no idea how to.... Any ideas are very welcome!

Erm, I was a few weeks ago. For some unknown reason my left armpit stank! Husband said it was just my strong sense of smell, but if so why didn't my other armpit stink?!? Anyway, I began washing with Dettol soap and adding soda crystals to my detergent (as per Old Style Board) and felt better :o

  • I'm 24 weeks - and I've still not told lots of work-related people. Otherwise, I might find myself with no work!
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.
  • Welcome Derby. I was nervous about telling the higher management at work but needn't have been as they were really nice about it. I told them after my 12 week scan. Then announced it to the rest of the team in a Team Meeting the next week I think.

Bumblebee glad everything is going OK for you so far, fingers crossed it continues to do so.

Robots pleased to hear all your test results were OK and that you too have been reassured that damaged stomach muscles aren't a problem.

Neverdespairgirl will you also have to return to work quite quickly after having your baby to avoid losing clients? It must be much more stressful being self employed than working for an employer.

Mrs_T_M it sounds as though you are coping amazingly well with your loss. I hope you are being taken good care of and that when you are ready to try again that it doesn't take you too long to get your BFP.

I'm on my phone so apologies to any ladies with important updates that I may have missed. good luck to all the ladies with scans in the next few days!

AFM, had my 16 week appointment with midwife today. I'm 16+5 now and it's really flying by. Been feeling a bit under the weather this week with the pain and lack of sleep so ended up taking yesterday off work. It was nice to get some rest and I feel a little bit better for it. I've come back in today as we're really busy and I don't like taking sick leave too often. Got to hear baby's heartbeat which cheered me up, midwife said it's beating at the right pace and sounds happy in there. My urine has tested positive for nitrates so that's been sent off to the hospital for further analysis. I might have an infection which could explain why I've been feeling so rough. Should get the results next week or maybe sooner if it's something that needs to be treated quickly. Scan is still almost 4 weeks away, can't wait! Won't see the midwife until 28 weeks now, although I do have a couple of consultant appointments before then.
  • becsxxx sorry to hear you've been so poorly :( could the sweating
be an after effect of being ill? like your body sweating it out haha. although my friend who had a baby last year told me she sweated loads more than normal in her pregnancy.

I'm feeling rubbish today, got a horrible cold, cough and sore throat. usually you would just dose yourself up wouldn't you but when I went to the chemist this morning everything said not suitable for pregnant women on it! was meant to be doing a 12 hour shift today but somebody at work offered to do my late visit for me, I was so grateful I cried! at home in bed now.

exactly one week to my scan, arghhh...
  • Welcome Derby :)

Hugs to all those feeling carppy. Can I join the feeling pants club? I've had such an awful headache there was no way I could have gone to work today. I feel really guilty about it though. I've heard headaches are pretty common in pregnancy but hope I'm not going to keep getting them like this. It's really debilitating and it's not like I can just reach for the cocodamol.

Re telling others. We have finally told both mine and OH's parents. Both of them took it much better than I expected and I feel really relieved to have fessed up. I really don't want to tell people at work though. I know I won't be able to hide it for much longer but I'm hoping to hold off till the 20 week scan.

You can use saline nasal sprays - found in the baby health section, you can sniff karvol on a tissue - found in same bit, and you can take strepsils that arent the like extra medicated kind - just the normal honey and lemon ones. There is also a cough syrup you can get in boots which has no like medication in it just honey and lemon flavour.

thank you! very helpful. I looked at strepsils today but they only had the extra medicated ones so I'll have another look tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure I felt a bit of movement before! a few little kicks? at first I wasn't sure then it happened a few more times and I thought this is not what I usually feel! eeee exciting :)

Ooh thanks. So I'm not abnormal :) Most of the people I know either announced on or before 12 weeks. Apart from an old school friend who only put it on Facebook when he was holding his child! But I don't know his wife so she might have said of course.

fiery - ooh exciting! I had wondered how I'd know so may be that'll be it, something new.

  • Well if you're abnormal Robots that makes two of us :) I think it's normal to want to hold off a bit when it's not been straightforward, and you've had more stress than most x

How exciting that you felt movement Firey.
