If looking at pushchairs, you should go to somewhere and yes push a few around. I know it sounds daft, but DO check that it will fit in the boot of your car. I have more than one friend who didn't check and it doesn't fit! :rotfl:

Think about colours available. What you want to carry in it as well as the baby, how big the storage is, can you easily hang a changing bag on it. Is the handle adjustable as my hubby is 6ft and I'm 5ft4 so we prefer different heights. How easy will it be to put up and down. It took us 10 mins and a you tube video outside the hospital the first time we had to put ours down as we had both gone totally blank. :rotfl: :rotfl: do you want one that is a pram then adapts into a pushchair or just a pushchair (baby should be completely flat for the first so many weeks/mnths to aid spinal development - sorry cant recall how many). Do you want to be able to put your car seat straight onto the frame for quick stops. This can save a lot of time in moving to baby from car seat to pushchair and back again. Not all car seats fit all pushchairs. They're all specific so worth checking out the choice for the pushchair you choose. Do you want the baby to be using it at a older age (ie. will the seat move all the way to 90 degrees) as the child will want to be sitting up and looking around easily or would you plan on getting a stroller when they're a bit older.

    Hope this helps someone. :)

For DD1 we just got a Maclaren stroller. It can go flat for newborns, it folds really small (and you can do it one-handed), and it's light enough for me to lift up and down into the boot of my car while holding a baby.

Downsides: It's not a fancy travel system, so you need a car seat too, and it's forward facing.

But if you want an MSE option, I would definitely recommend it. After two years of pretty constant use, it's still going strong and is going to be used again for baby number 2.

It's funny that you've been talking about prams/travel systems today. Even though hubbie and I came down with stinking colds last night, didn't sleep well and are both grotty today, we stuck to our plans to look at travel systems. However I didn't find the staff that helpful in the shop. I know I want a lay flat baby carrier, forward and rear facing pushchair and a car seat that can connect. Plus my boot should be fine for most models and they all tend to adjust to fit my very tall hubbie. I figure we'll buy a cheap stroller when we want something light, slim and that folds one handed when using public transport. When I asked the difference between the various brands and models I was told 'not much, just budget' and couldn't really get much else. I love the look of the Silvercross Wayfarer, it moved beautifully, is easy to use and I read a fantastic review that was very detailed. However how is a bugaboo different, is it worth the extra money compared to a McLaren, why should I buy the Wayfarer and not the other Sivercross models, etc????

Does anyone just not feel pregnant? I'm 15+4 and if it was for my little tiny bump and complete exhaustion I just feel normal...it unnerves me a bit!
Are you kidding!!! Since I was 8 weeks there has not been a single moment that I HAVEN'T felt pregnant! I'm conscious of it every waking moment, even when falling asleep or sat at my desk. I'm beginning to wonder if that's normal as I didn't expect to feel so rough or have so many twinges, aches, pains, nausea, indigestion, etc, throughout the whole pregnancy. Perhaps part of it is my age. :rotfl:

I was waddling off the tube on Friday night, feeling liked I'd been kicked in the buttocks, struggling to walk properly and having to take very small steps again, when I began to think 'maybe everyone in their second trimester doesn't have this'? So I googled my symptoms and something called Pelvic Girdle Pain came up. It apparently used to be called SPD too and it sounds horrid. Does anyone else have this or know anything about it?

    I've been Money Tipped!
Thanks twigpig! Maybe I know what I want more than I thought! I want a carrycot and pushchair option plus had to fit Maxi Cosi Cabriofix. Has to be light enough for me to lift in & out of boot (the bugaboo is winning here!). We have tried out all 3 that we like & there are very few differences!

Going to try them in our boot this week but doubt it'll make much difference as we have a Golf & trading my fiesta for either a golf plus or a touran (we have a huge dog too!)

I've had some bad pains in my hips & what feels like the muscle right in my bum, but think it's mainly been caused from me bending over half the day to be sick and then lying on the couch.

Since the vomiting had decreased the pains got better, when it was bad DH did these horrible stretching exercises on my legs but it did work.

However I noticed yesterday the pain had come back in my bum and hips a bit so I'm now wondering if it's something else causing it this time!

I get really out of breathe too.

I think it's just that I'm not being violently sick every half hour I don't feel as gp anymore but now I think about it I'm still burping 24/7, horrible digestion pains, the hip pain, really thirsty... Lol!

I bought the Quinny Buzz 3 which does what you want.

We went for to Kiddicare & were a bit (OK a lot) baffled by the choice. Also when we were told that the 2013 model was £185 more than the 2012 model on the basis of some minor (& in our opinion irrelevant) differences we were shocked.

I had read up on the Maxi Cosi car seat too & so this was our start point. Managed to buy it for £53 from Boots when Prince George was born & offers were on.

As baby hasn't arrived yet, I can't confirm that I am happy with the choice in operational use, but I am happy so far.

Kiddicare do price match, but I bought the Quinny on line from the following place & it was delivered promptly.

I wanted the carrycot too as personally I don't like to see tiny babies looking lost in big pram seats, but was also mindful of the fact that it won't get too much use as they are not tiny for long.

I managed to pick one up on ebay for £20 & it's in perfect condition (would have been £165 new).

I have also bought the iso fix bases second hand on e bay/ gumtree.

I feel quite :money:with the purchases, but don't feel I have compromised on what I wanted. Personally I can't see the point of some of the really expensive brands - although realise I could have bought cheaper & it's each to their own.

    Happy shopping!

Lovely to hear you've been eating more Claire! :T

With the 'knowing' what you're having- I was hoping for a girl but knew deep down it was a boy! Kept trying to convince myself otherwise but wasn't surprised at all when we saw his danglies on the screen! :p

Will see you in a week on the Big Girl thread TL!

Speaking of big, I feel like I'm growing every day! Last night was really uncomfortable. :o He'd been kicking and squirming all day long, OH could see him moving he was that active so he must have been making space!

Spent a long time on a train on Saturday and me must have liked it (or hated it?!) as he wriggled the whole time! :)

Hope your OH was extra super nice to you after all that nonsense Con! I got home after my day out on Saturday late, about 10.20pm expecting OH to be in as he'd not mentioned anything about going out, he crawled in drunk at 12.15! I refused to say hello to him even though he woke me up and came in for a cuddle! Made him look after me yesterday and go out even though he was hungover as I refuse to ruin my Sunday for his bad head! :p He did say yesterday that he's 'so over' getting drunk now, it's not worth the pain! Have to agree with him, I miss having a couple of drinks but I do not miss getting really drunk and feeling terrible for 2 days afterwards! :)

I got really overwhelmed with pram buying but went into a shop with OH, who tried them all and chose the Oyster so we went with that eventually as it was on my radar anyway from friends raving about it and it was nice and light and easy to move around. It's also easy to customise and can face either way. I love it already. :) We chose the Britax car seat as honestly, it was displayed next to the Oyster in the shop and we'd lost the will to live by that point but as we were with OH's parents who were buying the whole system we had to make a choice. It had the travel system attachments anyway (think you buy them separately for the Maxi Cosi?) and was a bit cheaper even though it looked the same as a Maxi Cosi, as far as I can tell, it looks like a decent little car seat. :) Only downside we've found with having a travel system is that we've got a lot of big stuff hanging around now, the carrycot is on the frame but we're having to store the stroller bit, and vice versa when we switch! :o

One thing I would say about pushchairs is don't discount second hand ones.

I bought DDs new travel system from mothercare and paid £270 for it in the sale. As it had my precious baby in it - it was always looked after very well. It had the odd scuff marks, but just general use nothing too bad. I sold it for £40 the other week so someone got a massive bargain.

I was going to keep it for new baby, but I saw a yellow one (my fave colour!) on the local selling site and fell completely in love. That plus the fact that the old one was just slightly too big for both mine and DHs boot - the parcel shelf would have needed to be off when we put it in.

Mine is also a quinny buzz TTC  It came with the forward/rear facing pushchair, the frame, the car sear, the carry cot, all cosy toes and raincover etc and its in near enough perfect condition. I paid £175 for it all and couldn't be any happier with it.

With DD being my first baby, I wanted everything new and to look at everything in the shops etc. But this time round I am so much happier to buy second hand and save some money. I still look round shops and have a play with anything I think I might want to buy - but I definitely try and save money where ever I can this time round.

One of my friends is a bit of a pram-oholic and I think she had 11 prams for her DD. So she was forever losing money on them - and when she sold them on they really did have hardly any use!!

Good luck with choosing your prams ladies

We were told the same by two different sales assistants both of whom were very helpful and knowledgable. They basically said that if a travel system/buggy had all the features you were looking for then it came down to aesthetics and budget.

I liked the Silvercross and that is what I went for because we found one locally that was preloved and came with all the bells and whistles for a fraction of the price.

Car seat wise we have gone for a fixed birth to 4 years seat as when I had my DD I really hurt my back constantly lifting the car seat in and out and decided not to do that again.
