She isn't great Mary, it's very sad, but she is being well looked after. Thanks for asking.

Hope you have a lovely time in Edinburgh becs, will you be doing any touristy stuff or just chilling out? x
  • Robots the damage to my stomach was done duing my last pregnancy due to various complications, and I think trying to recover was made worse by having to have an emergency c-section as I couldn't exercise for a long time after the birth to try and get my muscles to close. I did ask the midwife if it would cause problems with the pregnancy this time round, but she said no as the muscles would have to seperate anyway in late pregnancy. The only difference I've found this time is that thw pain in my pelvis has started already - it was about 17 weeks last time, funnily enough my stomach itself doesn't hurt, but then I guess it wouldn't as the muscles are stretched already! I did ask if there's any chance they'll go back automatically after this pregnancy, but the midwife said that they won't. Oh well, I guess that was wishful thinking.

Neverdespairgirl - I too didnt have the figure of a supermodel prio to my first pregnancy. I'm not too bothered by the damage done to my body now though as there are more important things in life than looking perfect and I'd rather have DS and be damaged, than be without him. I had a category 1 c-section as there was an immediate threat to baby's life. He had 7 minutes left to live (we read the notes afterwards despite knowing we shouldn't have). but they had him out much faster than that. I think in such circumstances the priority is on saving the baby, not on the damage that is being caused to the mother, but I'm so grateful they did save him.

Sophiasmum - I suppose everybody carries differently. I have friends that didn't even show until very late on and then were back into their pre-pregnancy jeans within days of giving birth.

firey - I wonder if your dream was a premonition? Mind you you've got a 50 per cent change of being right! Are you going to find out at your scan or are you staying team yellow?

wangdoodle - I also think I'm having a girl this time as the pregnancy has been so different to my first, and easier in most ways apart from the getting huge quickly. We're hoping to find out as we did with DS. I don't mind whether it's a girl or a boy though as I can see the advantages of both, I just have a feeling it's a girl.

Hope all is going well with you Mrs_T_M

Mary - how come you are having a scan at 28 weeks? Are you under consultant care too?

Have a lovely time in Edinburgh becs. It's amazing once other people can feel your baby move too isn't it!

We decided to have a drive out to Cheshire Oaks today - I wanted to get some tops for work, I've decided to just go a size up due to the struggle with finding plus size maternity. Got a lovely top in M&S which I think really suits me and has plenty of room for me to grow into. I also came away with a carrier bag full of Lindt chocolate - oops! I was hoping to get more tops, but I will only buy them if they really suit me and have room for me to grow and the others I found just didn't suit the bump. The top was about half price too so moneysaving! We had a quick look in the Mama and Papas outlet there but they didn't have a maternity range.

Sorry to hear that; it must be very difficult for you all.

I've booked a lovely hotel with a spa so we can chill out I'd we want, but also hoping to see the major sights and do a bit of shoppibg! Have booked a Michelin star place for his birthday lunch - exciting!

AquamarineMonkey, I'm doing well. Thank you for asking. Nothing really going on here until the scan on 29 January. :)

I think that's pretty similar to my own birth - they called it a "crash c-section", which they did in an almighty hurry after my heart beat fell through the floor. As my mother went on to have 3 more children, it didn't put her off for life, and I don't think she really did blame me for her severed stomach muscles lol. I was very late - due on 12th month, born on 31st!

I've felt rubbish this weekend - some sort of random viral infection, headache, swollen glands, sore throat, slight temperature. I've spent a lot of it resting, and fortunately, I'm not in court tomorrow.

Mrs Happy - I'm sorry your gran isn't well.

Becsxxx - awe that's lovely about your husband. I can't wait for that. Enjoy Edinborough.

Aqua - thanks for even more info, I'm somewhat put at ease by you saying your midwife reassured you there'd be no issue as they separate later anyway. It's still a week till my next midwife appointment & seems like forever till the consultant appointment.

Mrs T - I'm not sure if you said about groups on this thread or the other, but a friend has suggested I go along to the local mums&tots group in a few weeks. I thought it was a daft idea, but she explained I could help make tea/squash, meet the ladies, make some friends and most importantly know where I'm going, what the facilities are and feel comfortable Without the added stress of brining a newborn! So I actually thought it was very sensible advice.

As for me, I've had a wonderful weekend. It's my 33rd birthday on tues but husband is working till late, so we went to Stamford, walked around Burghly House grounds (for free!) and took me for afternoon tea in their Orangerie, it was so lovely :)

Then yesterday a friend shared her birthday present with me for my birthday (!) and took me to the local independent cinema for a live broadcast from the Bolshoi
Ballet from Moscow! It was stunningly beautiful! I've never seen ballet before but was entranced.
