Aqua I love your swimming costume! I dont know if work have to give time offfor aquanatal, I was thinking more of evening ones but I know what you're saying about time.

Mrshappy, was it time of your life?
  • neverdespairgirl - you're lucky having a small bump especially with it being your second. Did you get your figure back after Isaac was born? I never did after having DS, all my friends have though.

Robots - I think it depends what I'm wearing as to how big my bump looks, in work clothes I can just about hide it, although they're all getting a bit tight now, but in my swimsuit there's no hiding it as it's skintight.

wangdoodle - it's actually a pre-pregnancy swimsuit, not my best one either. I have one from Bravissimo that has underwiring in, but couldn't find it when we were packing yesterday morning. I think the one I'm wearing there is from Primark - it was an emergency purchase when we went away one weekend and I realised I'd left my Bravissimo one at home. Hopefully they'll both still fit when I go on my Sun holidays in March. I don't think 14 weeks is too early to be getting maternity clothes, I'm already wearing some of my maternity stuff from last time. I think I'm just going to buy some smart baggy tops a couple of sizes too big from a website for larger ladies, a nice pair of flat boots and wear them with maternity leggings once my current clothes stop fitting. It's a struggle for me getting maternity clothes as I was a size 20 when I got pregnant this time. We have a casual dress policy at work so I'll be going for comfort!

I think I've mentioned before I've been told I'm going to get very big very quickly! Unfortunately because I have damaged stomach muscles (which I was told would require surgery and the same recovery time as a hysterectomy if I wanted them fixed) there's no holding my bump back, it's massive for 15 weeks I know, but I never fully lost my bump from DS with the muscles setting apart permanently. I don't suppose it helps that I never lost my babyweight from my first pregnancy either, so there's extra fat on top. I don't mind though, the end result is definitely worth it.
I won't be having the surgery to fix them, it was hard enough recovering from an emergency c-section, I wouldn't willingly put myself through abdominal surgery, I'd rather look pregnant the rest of my life! Although some of my friends have said if I have a c-section again can I not ask that they fix my muscles while there in there :rotfl:I'm hoping for a natural birth this time though.

Sorry to hear about your gran mrshappy, I hope the hospital are taking good care of her. It's no wonder you're feeling emotional. Your bump is lovely, nice and neat for halfway through!
  • aquamarinemonkey that's very interesting to hear about your stomach muscles, I appreciate you writing it out. I'd also be v interested & appreciative to hear anything else you have to say on the matter. I should tell you why.

When I was born my intestines kept popping out my belly button, an umbilical hemorrhage I think it's called. Several times the Dr "popped them back in with his thumb" according to my mum, & apparently he said I could have surgery when older. I was 6 weeks prem, born by c-section due to mum getting pre-eclampsia.

So even when I weighed 7.2st for a long time aged 16-19, at 5ft6, and you could see my ribs I was that thin, I still had a 'Buddha belly' below my belly button.

I'm now a size 16-18 & I've focused on 'core strength' exercises for the last 2 years and have far less compensatory backache, but am still worried about any ill effects for carrying a child / labour.

It was one of the reasons I was referred to the consultant. Who proceeded to tell me I was wrong, as if I hadn't had surgery there was nothing wring with me. She refused to even look at me.

So that's why my bump can look v different depending on how I stand etc. And why I was so curious to hear of you having similar, for whatever reason. Sorry to waffle on.:o

  • neverdespairgirl - you're lucky having a small bump especially with it being your second. Did you get your figure back after Isaac was born? I never did after having DS, all my friends have though.

I did get my pre-pregnancy figure back pretty quickly, although I'm sure that's partly because I didn't put on any weight other than the actual baby and fluid, through being so sick all the way through. I was only 5lb heavier at the end of my pregnancy than I had been before it, even though Isaac himself was 8lb.

But "getting my figure back" in some ways is putting it a bit too high, because I didn't exactly have a great figure to start with! I've always been a little overweight, not massively, but never had a glamour-girl figure anyway.

My mother said she showed earlier with each of her 4, but she had stomach muscles cut when I was born (I'm the oldest) as it was a crash c-section, where they just hack their way in ASAP and grab the baby out, and so it's my fault she never could have a flat stomach again......

I'm quite looking forward to appearing definitely pregnant, as opposed to my current "I ate all the pies" look. OH says it's obvious to him, but then, he sees more of me and knows me better than average (I hope!)
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.
  • Im another who is not really showing on DD3. Im looking 'fat' now but can easily disguise it. Im thinking its just the way I carry as was the same on previous pregnancies - when I took DD2 along to her sisters toddler group at 1 week old, the leaders there were shocked as they hadn't realised I was pregnant!!! Think Ive said before - I had loads of growth scans in both pregnancies as my bump betrays the size of the baby! Ill have to post a pic up :)
  • had such a vivid dream last night that I found out I was having a girl. when I woke up I was dying to text my OH and tell him ha. he's on a stag do in krakow with his friends. I absolutely can't wait until my scan. my OH's mum has repeated millions of times how 'there's no girls in our family, it'll be a boy' that I'd secretly love to prove her wrong. I'll be happy with either though! just keep thinking about girls all the time! wondering if it's a sign ha.

    forgive my ramblings :)
  • Mrshappy story to hear about your Gran. Hope she's being looked after well. Lovely bump you've got there.

Aquamarinemonkey thanks for the info. I'm definitely going to need a new cozzie, I reckon I'll be massive by June and all I have now are bikinis!

Neverdespairgirl I'm the same, just look like I've had a pie frenzy! I've put on about 5lbs already though so I'll probably be massive by the summer.

Sophiasmum sounds like you have good stomach muscles there!

I have a really strong feeling we're having a girl too fireyfirenze but I think that's just my OHs wishful thinking! Can't wait to find out but I've got ages to go and even then we're going to have to sit on it because my mum (who I still haven't told I'm pregnant!!) will go nuts if it's not a surprise.

Just an fyi, if anyone still has any Dettol or Mum&Me vouchers from their Bounty packs, Sainsbury's is having a sale on both at the moment.

If you have the £1 off dettol surface cleanser spray voucher you can get it for free, as well as a 36 count pack of the dettol cleansing surface wipes for free with the £1 off voucher.

Dd3 eh? Go on you know you want to find out! ;)

I've got my next scan date, 17 feb (will be 28 weeks then!)

I dont know if any of you are buying nappies yet but I bought a big box of Cheeky Bots from tesco on offer today, 196 for £15, worksout at 7.7p each  might be worth checking out, I'm planning to stockpile them so it doesn't cost too much when im on maternity leave.

We went to the carboot again today and my son chose alovely little hello kitty rattle doll for the baby and I got a really pretty purple monsoon dress for £2 :T

then we went round tesco with some coupons and got some good savings, including a huge bottke of Robinson's squash which was half price from tesco£3.65 to £1.82 and I had a 95p off coupon :T this moneysaving is getting addictive!

Mrshappy, how is your grandma today? Xxx

I'm off to edinburgh this week to celebrate my husband's 40th and we're treating it as our last couples escape too before the little one arrives. loads of lovely things planned.

in exciting news, this evening DH felt the baby move through my tummy for the first time! i started crying (as per!) because it's so nice to share it with him at last

hope you are all doing really well x
