And ndg, hyperemesis sounds horrid! Have you had it this time, or just with Isaac? X
Not quite as bad this time, fortunately - I've managed to avoid ending up on a drip, whereas I had to go on one several times with Isaac. I've lost weight, and what I can eat is limited, but it's not quite as bad. It's a bit hard to remember that, though - it's all very well telling yourself that the leg you broke a few years ago hurt more than the sprained ankle you have now, but the ankle pain is present and the broken leg isn't!
It's very, very boring feeling queasy almost all the time, even when I'm not actually throwing up.
I'm now over 21 weeks (same as you, of course!) and I'm 10lb down on my weight in the summer. I don't actually look particularly pregnant yet, and my work suits still fit -although a bit oddly, because there is extra material around the bum and hips and tighter at the front.
The useless leaflet the GP gave me about morning sickness gives risk factors for hyperemesis - and I don't have a single one of them. I never, ever get travel sick, I can read in the back of a car or bus for hours, my BMI isn't very high, I'm not a teenage mother, not expecting a girl, or twins, I'm just very sick! The leaflet gave advice such as, "if a smell is causing nausea, move away from the source of the smell". That one had, oddly enough, occurred to me as a good idea all by my little self........much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I think the only numbers I have are emergency numbers, definitely do not have a number for a midwife. I'll double check tomorrow and ask at the doctors appointment I have for tomorrow (I think it's either a consultant or what most ladies get directly after their 12 week scan, since they "didn't have time" to speak to me about the scan when we had it).
My midwife booked my 16 week at My Booking In, it's on the back of my green book. But as they are no longer in date order (as had other appointments since) I didn't spot it. Luckily. She reminded me when we spoke today
Mrs TM - As you can guess I've done a lot of extra readings about the 12 week scan, the tests & the next tests. So what I think is that in a few top end hospitals and in private clinics you have the 12wk scan & bloods taken, wait an hr for them to do their tests, then get the result there & then. It's certainly not the common method. Hope that helps.I guess if you are consultant you'd still have the same appt schedule it might just be you see consultant for some of them? Or have extras? I'm sure someone else can confirm.
My friend was consultant care due to bmi being low but after a few seeing the consultant she got told to go back to midwife led care as it was a waste of time as there was nothing wrong with her or the baby.
So it may well change!
My. 1st consultant appointment was at 13 weeks. We know what a waste of time that was!Hi all,
I was told my by midwife at booking in that i would be consultant led due to my bmi (35). At my 12 week scan they told me that the guidelines had changed and it was only for a bmi of 40 or over that had to be consultant led so i was discharged without ever seeing a consultant!

That's really interesting, thank you for the detail. My husband keeps telling family etc that I've not had morning sickness... No dear, I've only thrown up a handful of times, but I've been constantly queesy for months, have had total aversion to many foods, have had a limited diet, and have lost at least 10lbs. I'm sure hypermesis must be much worse than what I've had though. Thank goodness for pickles, cheese & menthol sweets! Please forgive the badly spelt alias... Morning sickness is a dead silly name. My mother was only ever sick a few times in 4 pregnancies, but agreed with me that the queasiness isn't just a morning thing. In fact, I usually feel OK first thing, and get worse as the day goes on.
My main foods at the moment are yogurt, cream crackers and houmous....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Yes! Bump selfies!
Keep in mind, I crop out the back of my arm (my 'wings'!) and my rear end. Most of my weight is on my thighs and bum, so I did have a really good waist to hip ratio at least, even with being way larger than a 'normal' woman. :rotfl:RobotsinDisguse wrote: »My midwife booked my 16 week at My Booking In, it's on the back of my green book. There isn't any space anywhere in my booklet for appointments, but I received a slip of paper for appointments at my scan. All it has on it is my next scan...
I refused all of the tests at the scan, so if they are trying to talk to me about those, well, it will be a waste of time and a bus ticket!
Our hospital is a training hospital (always a good sign when doctors let their underlings practice on you...), so I think it's one of those test, wait an hour, talk about results places. I also think it's their practice to leave women as confused as possible so that they will hopefully follow everything that is told to them, even if it's wrong...
I will be going to this appointment alone (DH has to work & I have no local friends who can go), which is another tick in my high risk column. Kinda stupid, considering men don't get time off to go to their wives/girlfriends appointments!
Also, my book is white, has abbreviations and emergency only numbers on the back cover... You'd think with it being the NHS country wide, they'd have some sort of uniformity with some things.
As far as BMI goes, my booking in BMI was 48. I'm 5'3", so that skews things a bit.
Needless to say, I have a very low opinion of hospitals (individual staff can be great, but hospitals in general and I do not get along!).0 -
catloverbex - thanks for letting me know about Puddleducks but unfortunately the NCT group I've signed up to is on a Thursday night and I'm nowhere near the other one!
Will have to stick to the DVDs I think (we don't have Sky Claire) or wait until I'm off work properly. Mary - I convince myself that the walk from the car park to the office is also "exercise"!!!
Mrs TM - lovely bump pic! I must remember to take one of mine. My book is also white and the numbers are on the inside cover! [sigh]
AquamarineMonkey - so sorry to hear you've been bleeding again. It must still be stressful even though people are reassuring you about it. Hope today is better.
Afm, for some reason I've had the scan date wrong for months and it's actually this Friday not next week! Very pleased as I'll be 21 weeks exactly then. Will go find and update the list - we are definitely staying Team Yellow..0 -
This is the latest list I think? Some of these people may have moved on to the next thread?

Good luck for tomorrow sophiasmum!
I have an appointment at the hospital tomorrow with the psychiatric nurse which I'm a bit worried about - just don't know what to expect. I got referred as (as I've alluded to before) my birth mother had severe mental health issues (including what would now be diagnosed as serious PND). Makes me feel anxious about coming across as "normal"!!!! Not really sure what I/they are meant to get from this session and not allowed to take DH either..0 -
Mrs T - it's baffling how the nhs can vary so much. I've taken to sticking post it's in mine so I can find what I need to. Best of luck for today. I hope they respect you x
Becsxxx - yay at less waiting for your scan! I hope tomorow goes well for you. Please forgive the badly spelt alias... I am a long time contributor who needed to reclaim anonymity for health/job related posts.0 -

Good morning ladies, Just thought I would pop on whilst drinking my tea before I take the dog out and blitz the housework. Woke up this morning feeling like I had a great nights sleep last night for DH to tell me that each of the 4 times I got up for the loo I woke him up. Just shows how much I am becoming accustomed to waking up at night because I felt like it had been a great night sleep
Even getting the hang of falling straight back to sleep whenever my head hits the pillow. A skill that can on be of benefit was LO comes along xx
