Same here con, my scan is on 28th and it's dragging. Everyone is asking me if I've felt any movement yet and because I haven't I just worry (even though I've heard the heartbeat and my midwife said I probably wouldn't feel anything until around 20 weeks but still...) I still get stretching type twinges and it hurts when I sneeze and I'm not holding my belly! My cat keeps wanting to stand on my tummy a lot but it usually manage to move her to a different position and she just snuggles in!!
my cat does the same, he always wants to lie on my tummy but he does that nesting thing they do and it's not comfortable ! Between him and the dog i'm driven insane, today the dog tried to lie on me... which if he was a chihuahua or something would be fine... hes a 40kilo odd German Shepherd !! :rotfl:0 -
I have planned to finish up work on the 28th Feb, due 29th March so assuming I don't go early that gives me a full month..... anyone who has had a baby before, do you feel this would be enough time ? I don't have a very mobile work, I do admin computer work/work on phones. I drive to work so not much walking either.0

If Rocky tries to climb on my belly I say 'paws off baby please' and he moves, although I'm sure he has no idea what I'm saying lol
Mrs Bunny congrats on healthy scan and team blue!
Con I'm going at 36 weeks as a colleague really struggled driving the ten minutes to work in her third trimester and I live 30 miles away lol plus there's a family habit of having first babies early- sister and 2 cousins were 6 weeks early, niece was 3 weeks, so only just full term.
Can't believe I'm 24 weeks on Sunday, time has really flown since the 19 week scan! She's getting really strong and I can't help but think of those two years of trying after our mc, dreaming of being able to feel my baby kick. It's worth every moment of heartacheLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6

Congrats on the scan MrsBunny, and finding out its a boy. How exciting!
Love your last line TeamLowe especially x
Interesting reading about maternity leave, I've just had my letter through and can't make heads or tails of it. I work in a school, support role for 40 weeks per year but am paid over 52 weeks so don't know how holidays etc come into it. Wish they would just make the form easier to understand especially with my baby brain at the moment!
I also had my letter through today stating we are low risk for Downs which I'm really pleased about. It's amazing how you just go through pregnancy thinking 'Once we've had this done (scan/blood test/ every other test you can have) I will chill more' then the next thing comes up.
Hope everyone else is doing well and planning a nice weekend0 -
Congrats on a healthy scan mrs bunny!
I ate a Nandos takeaway this evening!!! The first dinner I've eaten, since 6 weeks pg so about the start of August! Still feeling nauseous & just had a Mars bar to try to keep the feeling away but it was good not to have a cake or ice cream or worse nothing for dinner & lying in bed being sick, as I have been the past 2 months lol!0 -
So if you don't go back you only get the accrued holiday but if you do go back you get the full amount?
.
No, by departure date I meant the date you terminate your employment. So I would assume you would accrue leave throughout your maternity leave up until the date you are no longer employed. If you never return to the office there is no chance to take it therefore I think they would have no option but to pay it but I might be wrong. When would you give your notice letter? Towards the end of your AML? What I really don't know is what affect it has whether you hand in your notice towards the end of your OML compared to towards the end of your AML.
I intend to return to work either full time or 4 days a week, depending on bills, childcare and the status of hubbie's job. Out if interest, does anyone else have to give 3 months when resigning?Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -

Hmm, I'll play it by ear can take it early if need be, I have booked the 1st-28th as annual leave so actual maternity isn't starting til my due date but it shouldn't be too hard to move things about if need be. I'm a 10 min drive to work, I can get a bus if need be but that means a 10 min walk at the other end and in the winter... so hopefully I will be okay to drive!
I'm 16 weeks atm, 4 months feels a lot. Especially when I haven't bought a thing... will start buying after next scan. Got our results back from the scan and bloods today, low risk of DS so that's set my mind at ease a bit... if we were at high risk I wouldn't have done any further testing but don't need to worry about that now .
Home alone tonight ( well with cat and dog LOL ) other half is at his friends house for a drink.... not looking forwards to him coming home drunk lol.0 -

Ah I see. So I should get most of my holiday then added on somehow. I guess they would have to pay it which would be fine with me!
My old job I had a 3 month notice period. It was annoying as by the time 2 months came around people would really resent still being there and did not put much effort in. When I left though it was after my miscarriage & they let me go with no notice luckily when I said I'd decided to leave & do something different & was basically a mess.
When some other people left they negotiated it to be a bit shorter.0 -
I'm pretty sure annual leave accrues for everyone, but bank holidays are different. It depends on exactly how hey are written into your contract. If your actual terms and conditions say you get x days plus x bank holidays, then they will accrue. If they're not specifically mentioned, they probably won't. There's plenty of companies that won't let you accrue them. It's also fairly standard that if your holidays fall into a new year or term, the company ask that you take you holidays before returning to work. For me, this means, as soon as my smp runs out at 9 months, ill start using the leave I have and that will cover 3 months for me so I won't need to move to no pay whilst off. It would be nice to have the year and then use my holidays, but we just couldn't afford that. Means ill take just under 12 months off and return in March 2015 with that full years holidays untouched.
Squirrel - think it was you talking about sneezing and holding tummy. I have to do this sometimes especially if I'm lying down or it really hurts. Lol
Mrs bunny - congrats on being team blue. Pretty sure we're going to stay team yellow again this time.TTC #3..........0 -

Kynthia I have a notice period where I can only notice to leave at certain points in the year. Don't know how that works with maternity but I'm not going back xFirst baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/140
