Culture of getting engaged young/ quick

It would appear from all the posts here that there do not seem to be any set cycles and trends and patterns to getting engaged, married, separated and divorced.
My Dad was 26 and Mum was 20 when they got married in 1946. My Dad had to ask my Mum's Dad permission to marry her because she was under 21. They were married for 67 years before my Dad died. They had known each other since my Mum was 16 and got engaged when she was 19.
I met my wife when she was 11 and I was 21. We started dating when she was 17, got engaged when she was 18, married when she was 19, and became parents when she was 20. We celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary this year.
Most of my school friends were married in their early 20s but only about half of the marriages have survived. The only common factor really is that those that got engaged also got married, even if the marriage didn't last.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

We met at 14, got engaged at 18- went to university 200miles apart, and got married at 22. We've been married nearly 11 years and have 3 kids (and to squash a previous theory, we both have good careers and own a 7 bedroom house)
My friends from school are all moaning about the sleepless nights they're getting with their new babies and I'm filling in application forms for secondary school. There's no right or wrong way, as long as you're happy :-)0 -
Met my hubby to be when I was 17, I was still at school.
Put down a holding fee on a new build and got engaged in the same weekend when I was 19. Then went cap in hand to the Bank Manager on the Monday to pay for it all. Things were a lot simpler in the 80's !
Married at 21 and never regretted a second.
My Nana married in her teens, my parents married in their mid thirties.0 -
