People deal with problems in their own way, if the OP didn't want to bring chemo into so what? Back in June I found a lump and a saga started. I mentioned it two or three times when I was in shock, but would be surprised if anyone can find me mentioning it since early July, this is from memory I haven't actually gone back and checked. It isn't something I want to go on about but understand why some people feel differently, I did for a week or so.

I asked for the thread to be locked/pulled last evening and received an acknowledgement that it will be looked at when the mods have time.

Obviously the mods are all volunteers and these things take time.

But hopefully, it will be. Sad that it has to happen - but as someone once said "there's none as deaf as those who won't listen".

thanks, let's hope between us all it will be locked.
  • I agree that the OP does not need to tell us her life story in the first post, but then she should not expect people to be sympathetic towards her having cancer, if they do not know she has cancer. They are not mind readers.

A very dear family friend has just died of a brain tumour, not yet 60, he wasn't able to have any chemo , even though he had cancer, it was too far advanced by the time it was diagnosed.

I actually think the person on this thread who has been most unpleasant is the OP. I'll be gracious and put this down to stress, but nevertheless they need to go back and look at their own posts. AND acknowledge the ones like my own, that have tried to help them.

excuse me, I did not need to tell anyone about my condition never asked for any sympathy, it was a post on page 11 that made joke about chemo being free that raised the subject, if you care to look back and you will see all my posts have been to defend insinuations and nastiness against me, if you agree with those uncalled for comments, then I can only say you are not being very christian

This is exactly why this thread needs to be shut down, OP you are simply making yourself look ignorant

I tried to give you some good advice earlier in the thread and agreed that you did not need to give your life history. However, I also pointed out that if a post about chemotherapy upset you, then I'm sure the person who posted it would not have done if they knew you had cancer. They did not know so therefore it was not aimed at you, they did not intend it to upset you

I think I'll give up now, I have actually tried to be of help and still get accused of not behaving in a Christian manner. I think that perhaps you just have a massive chip on your shoulder and see offence where none is intended.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Have you discussed your intentions with your children? What do they say? The thing I find utterly shocking here is that OP's children could not be getting very angry and cross with their mum for what she is considering doing.

It was bad enough when I thought you were just thinking of old age, but now that you are bringing up cancer, I just find it sick that you would think of your children before yourself and that they could not do everything to make you see otherwise.

thanks for saying so, I did receive the information very early on, nice social worker informed me of the criteria rules etc, thats all I asked for, it should have stopped then....all posts after then were initiated from others, I only replied in defense or correcting and for goodness sake why as all this talk of cancer come into it, I only mentioned chemo in answer to a post totally out of order, no where have I ever brought my condition into debate
trouble with these forums you only can read brief snippets of a persons situation and then think you know everything.
these sites are very dangerous and do boarder on cyber bullying, thought that was unique to the social sites the youngsters use
