I also don't tip the delivery person.

None of them have hung around long enough to get one right enough - they bring the bags to the door and then they are gone. If I had the same driver (we get Tesco deliveries most weeks) for any length of time I would probably tip them at Christmas time.

Besides if it wasn't for my deliveries he wouldn't be getting a wage!!
I feel that spending on average £5 per delivery x 40 weeks (being conservative) £200 a year for delivey is enough without another £40-£80 per year. I wouldn't mind giving them £5 or £10 at Christmas but as I said we very rareky get the same driver twice.

As others have said its unfair to tip the driver when the pickers, shelf stackers etc dont get a tip. After all they all play a part in my shopping arriving at my door.

It never really crossed my mind to tip either. The Tesco guys usually ask if i want the shopping bought in or not, but i prefer to do it myself. The one time I got them to do it was the day after I had given birth so i could hardly walk:rotfl: he bought my shopping in np for me then :-)

I think if I had the same delivery person on a more regular basis i would think about tipping, but I can;t remember seeing the same one twice and I get two deliveries a month so I don't tip

Tipping is so embarrassing and awkward. I am always skint as it is, and often tipping is not really something I can afford. And with 6 kids I never seem to have spare change! For deliveries it has never occured to me, this is mainly because I have paid to have it delivered and if the cost of that (sometimes £6) and I added a tip (say £3) then it would've cost me £9 to not do my own shopping! I would therefore save money by doing it myself....
I hate tipping in restaurants (and I have worked in 1 myself) as a) they get paid the same as anyone else in that sort of job (most of which do not get 'tip' top ups) and b) sadly these days on the whole the service is appalling. If someone has really been lovely I tip, but if I genuinely think they have not really bothered then I remove the discretionary tip. Personally I think it is outrageous that places add a 10% tip to you bill. It is downright rude. Surely we can make our own minds up as to whether the service was worthy of a tip! And for the record (I am not really mean!) the last 2 times we ate out I gave the chap a tip.
I feel bad because I dont tip the pizza man, mainly due to the fact I paid online with a card and don't have any cash!
