Why is everyone so eager to sell.

I thought shares were a long term investment. Or at least that's what keeps being bleated on here

I see what you did there.

She called up to ask where her email was, got told she wouldn't hear until the 21st as it was a certificated holding not a nominee account.

They transferred her to someone to try and sort it as it's definitely not what we selected but spent so long on hold she had to hang up and go back to work...

Weird as several people who chose the certificate have received the shareholder reference number email.

Yes there is. You are the one confused. You should have received an email with your entitlement.

Amount applied for: xxx Number of shares allocated to you: 227 Value of shares allocated to you: £749.10 Refund amount: xxx

I've not received this E-mail so I am not confused, just stating the facts from my experience.

I received a total of three E-mails which were as follows

    - Initial E-mail confirming my application when I first applied last week

    - Second E-mail I detailed above which I received on Friday 11th(this one went into my junk mail)

    - Third E-mail I received today confirming my investor number and details of how to sell my shares. This did not contain any mention of how many shares I actually had

Because people bought specifically for a short term profit rather than a long term investment.
  • Is someone able to clarify - if I ring up now to sell.. will I get a price around that available now.. or will it be a price between now and 9am... I don't get where the price I will get comes from...
  • I have only had two emails, one with a share offer number and one that links back to the government website stating that if you asked for < 10k of shares then you get 749.1 worth otherwise you get nil.

I have not had any emails indicating what I have been given or how much of a refund I am entitled too, I asked for 1k originally.

Anyone else get an email confirming what they will be refunded and what they were allocated?

This is the same as me.. now just waiting for the shareholder reference number email.. and waiting..
  • I received this email literally five minutes ago.
Following your application in the Royal Mail Share Offer, we have pleasure in providing you with confirmation of the amount you have applied for, the number of Ordinary Shares allocated to you based on a Final Offer Price of £3.30 per share, the value of the Ordinary Shares allocated to you based on the Offer Price and any refund amount if applicable.

Amount applied for: £4000.00 Number of shares allocated to you: 227 Value of shares allocated to you: £749.10 Refund amount: £3250.90

They must still be sending them out.

If the folks on here are anything to go by, it seems as if people who want to sell outweigh those who want to buy... but, so far at least, the price stays up.

    What does that tell us?

Really. I hope I don't spot anyone making a quick buck who then later goes on to lecture people on here that investing is for the long term

Very strange, from the questions in this thread it seems you must be in the minority. I never received any kind of statement such as this, although I do now have my shareholder reference number..

that email was received just an hour or so ago by me.

So the sequence was - email on Friday to all saying that you'll get zip if applied for over £10k and 227 if you applied for less.

Email this morning with shareholder reference.

Email this afternoon detailing the allocation, cost and refund.
