Why is everyone so eager to sell.

I thought shares were a long term investment. Or at least that's what keeps being bleated on here

They are, but £750's not a lot of shares and for many people is a small annoying holding.

Long term RMG will be owned by a foreign company like all the other utilities that were sold off.

If the folks on here are anything to go by, it seems as if people who want to sell outweigh those who want to buy... but, so far at least, the price stays up.

    What does that tell us?

Nothing because the majority of shares are owned by institutions so all those 227 shares private investors are selling are chicken feed compared to the hundreds of thousands that hedge funds, pension funds, unit trusts etc are snapping up.
  • Martmonk - same for me. I applied on the last day, and my surname starts with S, so I think it's random.
Have sold online at £4.81, so I'm happy :) Now to wait for the cheque!

Really. I hope I don't spot anyone making a quick buck who then later goes on to lecture people on here that investing is for the long term

There's nothing wrong with investing for the long term and taking up the opportunity to make a quick buck. The share price of RM was always going to rise in the first few days due to the demand but the outlook for the medium to long term is less certain.

Is someone able to clarify - if I ring up now to sell.. will I get a price around that available now.. or will it be a price between now and 9am... I don't get where the price I will get comes from...

    I refer you once again to the prospectus and also to my earlier post;

[QUOTE=All those who keep asking about how to sell and complaining that 3pm is too long to wait these are your options - as advised in the prospectus you read before buying.

I'll be sure to dig this out on the forum when the opportunity arises!

Don't think that statement features in Tim Hales book.

What are the chances that our cheques arrive by UK Mail or TNT?

Thank you so much carcuscrae for your amazing help, time and effort.

Re the above link, is there a way to put this on as an icon on your menu bar at all, do you know, please?

Also, do you use Shareview as a general sharedealer? I used to use it just for my work shares, and have never considered it for general dealing (used to use iii for other sharedealing until they wanted a monthly usage fee).

Thanks, again, for your super help.

I'd agree, although they may rise significanly when RMG enters the FTSE 100 and all the FTSE100 trackers are forced to buy them.

    However happy with my gain...
