Morning all.. just wanted to say thank you to Andrar for posting about the pain of losing both parents and how difficult this time of year is. I am glad to hear this thread helps you though, we are like a computerised invisible family and I love it. Big hugs to you Andrar.. x x x“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0

Just getting annoyed for being screened out of surveys involving alcoholic beverages while pregnant or nursing. It's not like it's illegal to drink then.
Anyway, today should be SFD 16. Miserable day and got completely soaked on the cycle to work. It wasn't meant to rain till 9. The weather forecasts are so unreliable nowadays :rotfl:
Enjoy your holidays traveller
MsrGSR well done for reaching the 20 SFDs already.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -

I watched one of those programmes once. I think that works better in the states as the coupons here aren't good enough. Plus here they are usually for branded items I wouldn't buy anyway, could get cheaper unbranded or your menu would entirely rely on what coupons are available. Or was that programme in the UK? What channel was it on?
Another annoying thing. Just checked my credit card and Amazon started taking money. On Amazon my gift balance still shows £30 so they for some reason didn't apply the vouchers to my recent order :mad:DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Thanks Thriftylass
I hope the weather gets better too. It is awful at the moment

I know what you mean about coupons. When we are in the states, I shamelessly go armed with coupons and rewards cards for meals, shopping ect and pay very little for stuff! Here, you really have to hunt for any kind of coupon stacking ectI do love being frugal though. I assume it's the one on TLC? I didn't know there is one based here.

Hi, if you go to the Ask A Manager site and search for "food police", you'll find handy hints to deal with those sort of people. Putting up with that nonsense for 5 years? you deserve a medal....

Have decided to give you all a laugh at my daftness... so we have been doing this October Challenge for TWENTY-FIVE days and today, I was thinking about getting some petrol in my car.
Now, the realisation has hit me that I only have £37 in my bank yet I have not put any petrol in this month at all (hooray for new local job).
Ah... so I had £180 food budget, £50 fuel allowance, £10 beauty budget so that is £240 in total (following me so far??).
Well I get £400 a month and on the 1st of the month I went to the bank and removed £220 of it, putting £20 in my "holiday" pot and giving the other £200 to my dad without a second thought.
Erm... I forgot to add in everything else and only kept £180 for the month. (completely ignoring the fuel and beauty budget in my maths)
So lesson learned for next month... remember to add all your budgets together.
Spoke to my Dad and as I am not on the "red light", he won't give me the money back. The response being "you have over quarter of a tank left, if I give you this money you will just spend it on something else" Ah, he knows me so well.
:rotfl:
Hope this has given everyone a wee giggle.
p.s: spend day yesterday but I am sorry as it was a junk spend. Before embarking on this challenge I bought some beautiful new glasses (they have coloured bases/stems and were £10 a set so I bought the tall tumblers, the champagne glasses and the wine glasses). We went back in yesterday and they had coffee glasses which looked amazing... so I bought them for a tenner too.
The challenge will be if I can refrain from buying the matching bowls but I am taking mum today so I might drop "santa" some hints.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91
Savings: £0/£64000 -
Hi Guys and Gals,
Forgot my actual check in yesterday- SFD. Working from home then evening visiting a friend for a catch up and hot chocolate at hers and also to meet her gorgeous husky/ malamute pup!! *Squeeee* :heart2:
Another SFD today as well- night in planned.
SFD Total= 19 (I have broken my personal record!) :T
Tomorrow will be a spend day as I need to get a new Tax disc- boooo. But should hit my 20 SFDs target on Sunday as there are no planned spends.
On my drive home from work today, I have realised that since partaking in NSK's challenges I have inadvertently quit caffeinated coffee and Diet Coke. Both of which I felt I *had* to have a daily fix of! I actually have no cravings for either. I only have the one cup of caffeinated tea a day- for me that is pretty darn good! No longer a caffeine fiend! Once I've used up my lovely Tesc0 Value tea bags I will be opting for decaff one's- I don't think they do a value variety of these though, which is a shame. But I suppose some nice decaff one's will be a reward for quitting the daily caffeinated tea fix.
Eeeeek, T-Minus 3 days until Pay Day! And then just a month to go after that (assuming my lil rust bucket broom broom does not decide to mess around as my car fund this month is paying for Mr Tax Disc).
Hope you all have a spiffing weekend!
Andrar - Sending you lots and lots of love!:coffee:
