Hello there all!
Some inward fighting amongst DH and I over the finances. Still not really resolved. I suppose he has a bit of envy as has been mentioned by others. But his in in going out for a meal or drink. He likes doing it and I am not really bothered/would rather spend money elsewhere. He still says £30 isn't enough for him a week in order to entertain (buy beer and go to the pub), but I really struggle, not that I would deny him money, but I see £150 on the budget this month for his weekly pocket money. Seems a lot to me really. He's still fighting with me over the finances. I think he has some resentment and blames me for the situation when the truth is I led the spending but he was a willing participant in it.
I think it must be the day for it! My OH is being a pain in the bum about money today and its really grated on me.
The background is...a lot of my debt is from over spending on joint items like food and vets bills, or me 'lending' him money. But as soon as its spent, he forgets about it. I know most of this is my fault as I usually say yes when he asks to borrow money, but I just want him to wake up and live within his pay packet (instead of his, mine and then some!).
Tomorrow is payday and he wants me to have his bank card and give him an allowance, which is fine (until he gets mardy when I tell him he can't have all the money he wants as he doesn't have it in the first place!) As I'm controlling his money, I told him that I'll first pay myself the money he borrowed from me this month, but his response was a rather nonchalant "if you want!" Then I asked if he knew how much he'd borrowed and he said no! I felt like shaking him until he turned into a normal human being! grrrrr

andrar, thank you for sharing. Hugs
My Oh also used to live on the edge of his 1.5k OD and borrow money from me every month for nearly 9 years. Gosh it feels silly admitting I let that happen. He never planned ahead or saved. Luckily it didn't end in too much debt. A few factors like buying a house together, having a child and getting engaged changed him luckily. He's still learning and I havent told him about here, but he's "on the mend" :rotfl:
Also we split the bills now in a way that I'm responsible for groceries and savings and he more for the fixed bills. We are meant to spend both about the same % of our income on it and the rest is spending money, however I tend to save mine too.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Andrar - thanks for sharing and hugs to you. We all have our bad times and mine is in January.
NSK - I did a survey in the summer for V Opinions which paid out £164, and I have been reaping the benefits since. I have bought jeans, bras, dressing gown and onesie from M&S, and I have another £30 of B00ts vouchers to use, in addition to over £50 still in my V Opinions account which I am saving for a 'rainy day'. My B00ts vouchers will come in handy for a monthly stock up of toothpaste, mouthwash and tampons. Yesterday I also bought seasickness bands for my trip to France tomorrow night. I just hope the weather clears up before then!
Today is SFD number 13. Packed lunch for work, and tea from the kitchen cupboard. Have already made tomorrow's lunch and tea will be out of the freezer.
Will check in again tomorrow.0 -

Done ok with the food budget so far but can do better. Looked at my freezer tonight and thought it definitely needs defrosting to fit the christmas goose in. So I need to take the "eat everything before buying more" rule a bit more serious next month and eat it empty.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250

Well, the good news I guess is that I didn't spend anything on toys yesterday.
There was only half an aisle of toys and it was absolutely rammed. I was looking for something for an almost two year old and there just wasn't anything that shouted it was ideal for him, but still time left for that.
I did also just about come in on my food shopping budget. I was aiming for £30 and I spent £30.97. The bad news is that I went over my budget on clothes. I didn't intend to, didn't intend to buy any clothes but, I am going out on Saturday, pre-planned outing, and I thought I'd look for a new top. Then I saw a new jumper, which I really could do with as I got rid of a lot of winter clothes in the spring, and then failed dramatically on a new pair of trousers. Hey, at least I will look good on Saturday!
I'm a little disappointed I went over the budget, but the over will be taken out of what's left of the food budget.
Was adding everything up last night and with all my spends and what was left of all my budgets, I was 94p up. Then I realised that I had one of those, your shopping would have been this much cheaper vouchers, that they take off the total after everything else, so in my spreadsheet I had to pay that in, so to speak. I'm now 3p short, but I can live with that, because I think I lost a pence or two pulling my keys out of my pocket.Feb NST #4

Well I did it, 20 SFD for the month. Blimey, probably my biggest achievement after the not buying toiletries.
Already sat and budgeted for this month. £200 for food this month, spent £60 where I work and £30 where hubby works so the remainder will go in the cash tin for anything else. Also budgetted for petrol, stuff I need for the children and £50 for anything else leaving a healthy amount in.
Will there be a November Awakening? If so I'm in. I've even paid my debts for this month. BOOM.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Morning all! I'm in a good mood this morning as i'm on leave for 6 days
You'd think i was off abroad, i'm so happy
I did spend yesterday on fruit, bread and a whoopsie cheescake. I normally run low around now, so it is a planned spend, plus trying to kick the choccy habit:o
The weather is pants at the moment, but the plus to that is i'll happily stay in, so a nsd :T I may take the litle one to Harrods-he loves the Animal kingdom there-completely free! We may also do my version of the London sight seeing bus. I live in North London. We jump on the 19 bus, which goes through the touristy parts-the travelcard which i have to buy anyway covers it, so together with a packed lunch, a nice, free day out :T
Have a good day everyone-6 days to go and we have all done so well!
NSK-Thank you for getting me in the mind frame where I cannot wait till payday to pay off my CC's.I keep thinking how quick a year goes and am really looking forward to sticking this out and dealing with it :T:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0
