SFD number 14 :) I'm right on track to get 20 by 31st October :) Figured I need to only spend on 1 day in 3 to meet the target and I'm right on the money.

Had a very MSE day as sent off eB4y item, posted using postage allowance so cost me nothing :) Bought human, dog and cat food using N3ct4r points to last until payday (Friday) when my money totals restart.

Had a bit of a down moment today as my friend has just had an offer accepted on a gorgeous house. She is single and so good with her money that she is now moving into this lovely house which is stunning inside. I'm just jealous but wish I had been better with my money and could afford a stunning house. Oh well, you live and learn!

Yikes, I've just listed my uke, ski jacket and games console on my f@cebook local selling group. Never listed on it before so have no idea how my items will fair, or if they will be acknowledged at all. It would take a lot of hassle out of having to sell/post items/ work out fees on eb@y! I've got a game that I will sell on eb@y still as it looks like I could make about £10 from it (after fees) if it sells and it would be easy to post...Ski jacket will move to eb@y if no interest on fb and console will go to C3X shop...not sure what I'd do about the uke as it's very awkward to post.

Anyways, I am now hitting SFD 15 today! Yay!

    Donation: £0/£3

Had a SFD yesterday but not today. Needed bananas, grapes and bread, but that should hopefully see us to Thursday. Another lunch to work day today so that's me in double figures for both SFD and lunches:T. Proud of the achievement so far as it's our first month on this challenge and 10 days to go.

Phew another Monday down, one more this month to go. A SFD for me today.

Its starting to come up to the time of year I hate, lots of awful memories and feelings that just make me want to shuffle away and hide from the world. Can't wait for my holiday at xmas-new year to run away from it all! Not very mse but its my annual treat to get me through the thrifty journey. Bit of a while to go till then though!
  • Evening all.

I'm disappointed in myself today as have had another spendy day. I bought the new winter coat I wanted (which had 25% off) today - but I could have bought it over the weekend when I had spendy days too. It's a purchase I am glad I made as it's a full length waterproof coat which will stand me in good stead for the winter.

I also bought some doughnuts for the office today - I got offered promotion last week (I am on a temporary contract) so accepted and started the new job today (in the same office). It means another £55.50 per week (before deductions), and in 12 weeks time I get another pay rise of a similar amount. I get paid a week in arrears so it will be next Friday before I see what difference it makes to my pay packet.

I have also signed up to do a temporary contract with the same agency and it could mean a nice sum of money being paid just before Christmas.

Fingers crossed I can get a few more SFDs under my belt before the weekend. I know I am not going to get 20 SFDs this month but I hopefully will do better than I did last month. I also know where I have gone awry with my budgets so will plan better for November (which is only next week - eek:eek:).

NSK - am I right in thinking if you make a purchase entirely with vouchers/points it counts as an SFD?

Here are my latest totals (I have remembered to put them all on the same message tonight):

    Food - £98.87/£80
    Misc - £432.92/£150:eek::eek::eek:
    Petrol - £15.08/£50 :j
    Food bank - £2.56/£3.00
    Car tax - £175/£175
    Money made - £28/£100
    SFD - 10/20

Have a good Tuesday everyone and will check in again tomorrow.
  • Well yesterday was a sfd :) added to my sig.i wont make the 20, but with better planning next month i should get somewhere. Now that im back driving, and back in charge of shopping etc, i dont need to depend on dh.

Still amazed i'm within every budget! After having baby i kept our budget at £200, and included, nappies, cleaning products, etc. my weekly shops have been around £30, helped by the fact weve been eating what weve got before buying more, but my freezer still has soo much food, and also the cupboards are still full...

Looking forward to see what dec brings, however i suspect xmas shopping will be a big part for most people and possibly cause us chaos!
Still here..... but working on that!

    Good Morning all....

I am going to get some wordage down then look back at all the entries. The office is quiet at the moment so I find it's easier to get some typing done first as reading on the sly is easier...

SO.. yesterday was a lovely SFD. My friend bought me some juice at Pret a Manger.. we chatted a lot and I went straight home ( took about 45 minutes ), onto the bike and out of the house within ten minutes to catch my friend at the cinema who is OBSESSED with Arnie Swach-what's-his-face. I had to go with her...bless.... then home for 2100 to make foodage for today ( think I went over board ) and then showered, wrote an email to a man-friend ( oooo-er ) and then hit the sack at 2330.

My well rounded excuse for not logging in last night..FORGIVE ME??..:rotfl:

I actually felt a little sorry for Arnia and Sly.. both getting on in years, Sly could barely turn his trunk of a neck in some scenes but they clearly love each other the big chunks and the movie was amusing although entirely predicatable.

HUNGER GAMES ON THURSDAY!!!! Anyone else read the books, is totally excited and kinda thinks they are Katniss Everdeen?? Okay the first few letters of my first and last name come up with "Katnes" so I honest to goodness think I am her.....(kidding)...

My cakey bakey treats are working well. I feel that since I made so many of them I technically don't need them all. Although my vegan peanut butter cookies are not as crunchy as I would have liked...I am still going to eat them don't worry.

Siouxsie you are spot on. It "might" be the same name this year with a 2013 in there. for those of you who don't know when Siousxie popped to my personal thread and made a comment about "battening down the hatches" I thought it was a good idea for us to get right down to absolute basics - that was my toughest month EVER as I was learning a new way to life. I think I only had 5 spends days that month.. honestly it was so tough. But here we are a year later and look at us - we've made new friends!! lol!

Right.... enough of these witterings... hope everyone is alive and kicking. The October Awakening is nearly into it's last week of play - best I get something together for November then eh?..:T:T:T

    Onwards and Upwards!!!

EDIT; - People seem to be getting despondant. Lillian if you want to bow out then you can but I think you need to stick with us now and see what can be garnered from the last 10 days of the month. Then start afresh in November. Perhaps its the time of the year where dark days encourage dark thoughts. I know this is hard, trust me I do.. but we can get through to the end together!!

NSK - It is tough trying to stick at something you really are not enjoying anymore. However, I think you should reward yourself once you hit that glorious DFD! Even something small to keep you going until you pack up and chuck that backpack on! May be a 'luxury' that you have deprived yourself of throughout the last year? My little reward for myself will be returning to my Zumba/Street dance classes.

Brilliant brilliant brilliant idea. I literally haven't even considered it. I hav always wanted to do linyhop classes or some sort of dance or pole fitness!! Something where I can just have fun while learning a new skill. The one good thing with this new position at work is he flexibility of changing shifts each week so I could keep to a schedule. Ooooh I am excited now!!

it was more frustration at the bigger things - that we can't afford to buy a house, that we won't have a holiday or be able to make choices about having a family and so on that got to me today. Seeing my siblings at the weekend (with their big houses and lovely children) didn't help me feel good. I know I earn more than either of them, and their partners, but here we are in our little rented house with no way of affording a family. I think I was also feeling sore as a big chunk of it was not my debt and that I didn't even have the fun getting it!

I remember having this same conversation with Abundant a while ago as his siblings are kinda in the same spectrum ( hope you don't mind me saying Mr A...)..

You can never know what happens behind closed doors and how a house is made a home. You never know how much debt your sisters/brothers have that they don't think is "real" debt so they are ignoring it. You can never tell whether in their perfect little house that they are actually happy with each other.

Never covet what someone else has as you almost covet how they got to where they are. That might not be something you want to wish on yourself.

As for not getting any fun from the debt does that mean it's all OH's...? We have to take things as they are.. it's a temporary issue that yes might consume you for a while but will stand you in good stead to never go there again.

How long is your DMP for? If not the OH's debt is it an ex? I am not sure if you have mentioned it before and I don't want to pry I just want to tell you it can be done!!!

Is she single? Perhaps there are aspects of your life she wants or envies. Like I said above, don't envy someone else. Make the best of what you can be rather than covet what someone else has worked hard for. She might think a house is her only option in life and that in itself is a little sad.... don't look back on what coulda have been. Look forward to what will be. x
