    Morning :-)

Always known it as dinner and tea also. Feels odd to say lunch and dinner, though less odd reading It.

Also planning on not going anywhere today.DD1 has one of those imitation babies from her child development lesson, which has been up every two hours tonight. So needless to say we are shattered, as my bedroom is next to hers. DD2 has an attic room and has slept through it ... lucky thing.

another dinner and tea person here :) never really thought about it before.

lol about the baby, did you have to get up in the night to help? can't you take the batteries out! How realistic are they?

I have been ultra good and not done a top up shop this week but we are of to McDonalds for dinner :o so I suppose I had better add that cost on later.

Morning all - bit late to the game in October. I like to read everyones posts before posting my own, and real life has been a bit busy since coming back off holiday. :o

Came under budget in September, and have been keeping my receipts for October:

    1st Oct - £4 in Mr S
    2nd Oct - £1.10 in Mr S
    3rd Oct - £3.10 in Mr S
    4th Oct - 55p in Mr S
    5th Oct - £9.97 in Mr S

On the 1st, I also made use of a money off voucher for a Mr T delivery - my share came to £35

Total spends in October come to £53.72 so far...

Am aiming for £130 again this month.

Meal plan this week has been/will be:

Monday (I cooked): Tuna fishcakes (Mr S TTD I'm afraid) with the end of a bag of potatoes mashed and broccoli with sweet chilli sauce
Tuesday (I cooked): Chicken and peppers (getting wrinkly and needed using) with a soy/lime/rice wine/chilli sauce served with rice
    Wednesday (housemate cooked): Pasta bolognaise
Thursday (housemate cooked): Cajun/Paprika (didn't have enough cajun left) chicken with roasted tomatoes and onions
Friday (housemate cooked): Cod in a tomato/soy/thyme sauce served with mash (he bought ready made) and broccoli
Saturday (I cooked): Quick chicken madras with rice. Used paste I'm afraid, and some dessicated coconut as per the recipe (this needs using up from the cupboard since I don't make sweets anymore).
Today (treat day - shared): Pork chops cream, mustard and cider served with gnocchi and broccoli

So a lot of short cuts for us compared to usual....both spending the day studying for our respective new courses.

Long post (sorry!) - hope everyone is well.

Small spend on ys prawn pasta salads, fruit and veg and boots sandwiches, 4.00 and 2.00 on four packs asda oranges, 6 in pack for 50p. These are lovely oranges and will eat a couple but bought for drying for potpourri bags for school fundraisers.

I am so enjoying all this crafting as I gave up sewing and crafting because of failing eyesight now I have had cataracts removed I can see perfectly.

As I only have a table and chairs in the kitchen I don't really want to be bothered with cooking as would have to keep clearing away craft stuff. Think I will just have picnic type stuff and soup for this week.

I have no idea why the type has changed to slanted, I have a new computer and am struggling to get used to it, I have obviously pressed something but I don't know what.

  • Spent £6.45 on Saturday & £4.60 today. So, under budget for week 1. Still a long way to go but feel I've made a good start. Off to walk the dog in the sunshine then will do meal plan & shopping list. Got £12 off voucher for Mr S.
  • Oh dear, still another 19 days left of this months challenge for me and I've already spent £101.11 of my £220 budget :o

£14.35 spent yesterday, was round a friends for a catch up last night so took a bottle of wine and a few nibbles. Then went to the farm shop today so £25.26 spent there today on meat but that should be enough meat for at least 10 meals. Still need to go and do a proper weekly shop but going to try to do a meal plan and keep what I need to get to a minimum as I really need to reign in the spends

  • I've managed to stretch a weeks worth of shopping for ages, and still going strong thanks to mum and dad buying lots of tasty treats for me.

I did spend £6.65 on fruit and veg today, and have updated my signature to reflect

£29 spent today at Ald* funny how it all adds up! Got a load of chicken legs/drumsticks for the slow cooker.

Made falafel last week and popped it into the freezer, we have approx 2 weeks worth of food in now, will need to top up milk but hopefully not much else.

    Have a fab Sunday.

I have been ultra good and not done a top up shop this week but we are of to McDonalds for dinner :o so I suppose I had better add that cost on later.

It woke me up, so i did ask did she want any help, when she was getting a bit stressed. They look like a baby born but they make a more realistic noise; so they are a little authentic but not as much as I thought it would be for the price (apparently they cost £500 ). I don't think the batteries come out as the doll is set to come on and off at a certain time so apparently at 5pm or 6pm tonight it's due to go off. Certainly taught DD that she isn't ready for kids without the support of a partner and taught me, I am done with my part in populating society :rotfl:

In other news a NSD. Also, my Mum and her partner are paying us a visit so not sure what we will be having for tea tonight as I would normally be getting it on the go. Have to try and rustle up something quick.

  • £9 spend in Mr A on top up of milk bread etc as cupboards and freezer still bursting
  • Today was another NSD for me (so 2 out of 3 days so far as our "month" only started on Friday) My meal planning is going well and although we're flexible as to what day we eat it at least I now prioritise meals with perishable ingredients first. It also reminds me what I need to get out the freezer the night before. Yet another loaf of bread baked today which is saving us a fair bit as previously we were spending about £1.20 a loaf. We also had roast pork for dinner and although it was only a small £3 joint from mr s it was more than enough for the four of us (all adult size portions) I've also made a raspberry swirl cheesecake for pudding using YS digestives and basics cream cheese, basics lemons & basics eggs and it tasted fab. Tbh I rarely use anything other than basics ingredients for baking and we've never had any problems x
