Yep tofu is, think there is a knack to cooking it, it has to be cooked just right.0 -
Never had it but cant imagine it being nice at all, neither do any of us like quorn even though tried it three times.
Spends today in the butchers and also Morri$ons so now up to £30.38.
Our meal tonight was the veg left over from last week - a rather sad looking carrot, one leek, 5 rather wrinkled mushrooms, small piece of onion and a couple of broccoli florets. This was all cooked off then put into a dish with some cheese sauce and covered with some left over grated cheese and breadcrumbs. We had it with some tomatoes and a chunk of crusty bread. Was'nt the best meal we ever had but we ate it and it used all the bits that were on their way to the bin.

I actually like Quorn, but will not be attempting to try this again!GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £89.90/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. Hmm, a few naughty spends today!! I agreed yesterday to do some overtime at work today, and got there ridiculously early so went to the shop and got croissants for everyone and a couple of other bits - spent £5.49, but still have croissants for brekkie tomorrow and bought some flavoured latte sachets and have them for when I have the urge for an expensive coffee!
I had some vouchers to use in the next couple of days at a specific store, and it was on the way home from work, so I went in there. It was ridiculously busy, so I ended up giving up on the list and putting stuff into the trolley (and forgetting lightbulbs in the process!!) Got a lot of fresh veg, bread, and some other bits, and spent £31.15 on groceries, which is after the vouchers I used.
That makes £36.64 spent today, so turned out to be an expensive day of overtime!!!MFW 2016 #32 £1574.66/£1500:j:j0 -

There must be, as it was like slop and the recipe said hard tofu ... hard it was not!GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £89.90/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. I feed quorn once to a confirmed meat eater, made a chilli to disguise it as much as I could. He did realise something wasn't quite right and accused me of buying cheap mince :rotfl: but he never knew there was no meat in it. - I did tell him a few weeks later0 -
Went out today for first time this week and got 5 meals in morrisy for £13. 3 gammon joints, 1 tray of nice looking stewing steak and 4 chicken pies which were 79p for two. Might stretch it a bit more if I can, veg mixed in the stewing steak and poured over mash, and hopefully two meals or 1 meal and sandwiches out of each gammon joint. Also been on the lookout for a huge stewing pot and found one in homecheapies for £7.99 and found the same thing (well almost!) in dun*** mill for £32! This means that I can now bulk cook and freeze, instead of it all being eaten the second I make it!

Morning :-)
Always known it as dinner and tea also. Feels odd to say lunch and dinner, though less odd reading It.
Also planning on not going anywhere today.DD1 has one of those imitation babies from her child development lesson, which has been up every two hours tonight. So needless to say we are shattered, as my bedroom is next to hers. DD2 has an attic room and has slept through it ... lucky thing.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £89.90/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month.
