  • Spend of £24.38 in Ald! last night, but ~£5 of that wasn't on my list, stuff was just too appealing :S However I'm well stocked up now, so shouldn't need to go shopping again until next week (famous last words), but not going to tempt fate, I'll hold off declaring my final spend until tomorrow!

Annoyingly I had to spend 69p on mints to get enough change to pay for the car parking, but apart from that, no other spends :o So we managed on £208.07, which I'm pleased about for our first month of doing this :T
November GC: £50.55/£130. October GC: £72.60/£150
September GC: £131.27/£170. July GC: £62.48/£80. May GC: £135.00/£150
April GC: £201.91/£140. March GC: £194.98/£200. January GC: £111.41/£200.

    Hello,

£53.58/£65 was my result for October although £11.65 of groceries have not been used yet.

It was useful to cut spending by using up "food stocks" purchased before October alongside a few acquired in October. Nevertheless, my aims to reduce time in the kitchen and only create a few new recipes did not seem any less. Also, to only buy healthy food was okay but needs improving. Anyway, I enjoyed the challenge so thanks to the organisers and for your posts.

mommyof4 - I noticed your pet food query. Check/ask on the "November 2013 Grocery Challenge" or "Pets & Pets Care" forums?
  • Yesterday was a NSD for me. I'm also going to count today a NSD because I didn't buy anything included in GC. Had lovely lunch out with DH. I'll take this out of entertainment budget when I start one (probably after Christmas). Only 2 more days of October challenge to go. Already thinking about budget for November. Have a nice weekend everyone.

Spends today - need to add to sig.
    Had a busy day.
Doctors this morning - lost more weight - go back in 6 weeks for another weigh in. Had all the non invasive tests to try and discover cause of weight loss. Up to me if I go down the invasive investigations route.
Cleaning and moving furniture this afternoon so had easy dinner. HM Shepherd's Pie + whoops sprouts, brocolli and carrots.

  • Well, I have to cancel my NSD for yesterday. Bought posh sausages from a specialist shop for DH when we were out. I forgot all about them yesterday because there was no receipt. I've tried to get in the habit of putting all receipts in my purse. So one less NSD & £5.03 (treat for DH) for yesterday.
    Today I had spends in M&S (£5.72) and Ice**d (£3.10).

I made Salmon Fishcakes tonight - we ate one each so 10 to go in the freezer. The salmon was whoops and the cooked mashed potato left over from making Shepherd's Pie. My Cauliflower Cheese tasted fine but my sauce would not thicken - made it in MW. Caulis were whoops. We had HM wedges as well.

  • Here's my last spend of my first month. £7.65 in Mr T on Sunday.
That makes a total of £573.70 for my first attempt. Still a lot of money but I kept within my budget so I'm pleased with that. :T

I'm also pleased that I've managed to hold on to my receipts so I can add up as I go along and I feel a bit more in control of my spending. So I'm going to have another go and will meet up with everyone again in November.
