Hi i hope you dont mind me coming in here to ask a question, have been looking around the boards and decided to ask here first. I desperately need to find some way of feeding my pets a bit cheaper. I have three cats (1 is a kitten, 1 is elderly we think?) and three dogs, 2 are large. All rescued. At the moment it is costing me a fortune. Cats dont seem to like own brand tins and they make one cat vomit, that is why we are assuming she is elderly(vet is unsure). We are giving them tesco own brand sachets to 2 cats and iams us the only thing the other cat seems interested in. Dogs have large tin and mixer between them at the moment. Currently costing approx £26.49 a week!!! ANY suggestions gratefully received. Thank you

Well October has basically been a write-off due to me struggling to keep track! I think I finished the month £14 under my adjusted budget though, so pleased with that :-) also despite losing track of the number of NSDs I have had, I know I had more than last month, so also pleased with that! Hoping to keep on top of things better next month! So, declaring at £236/ £250! See you in November!

Oh NO WAY was this a write off, you came in under budget, you had more NSDs than last month, that says to me success.

So OK you didn't keep track of the paperwork, who cares, the name of the game is saving money not keeping accounts. I used to get in a terrible muddle with losing receipts, losing my spending notebook, forgetting I had bought stuff on my debit card. I got really fed up with it so changed to using cash. Now I put my budget in a separate purse and know exactly what I have spent and what is left is what I have saved (or not)

Give yourself a big well done for this.

I knew i would end up having to go shopping before October ended! Spent £15.53 last night. Daughter had a friend over today to do joint science homework with almost no notice, Had to feed her due to the time she could come and the time we had to kick her out, and had to have a hot meal at lunch time due to going to my mum for tea later. I was planning on smoked fish crumble, but it only just does 4 of us even bulked out with potato and veg, plus I wasn't sure she would like it, so decided to get a chicken to roast. I was planning to do this next week anyway cos I want to use the carcass to make stock and then Christmas dinner gravy and freeze it. Also bought pots, and some cider for DH cos he was at home ironing the mountain of stuff that has built up over the past week. Can't get ground almonds anywhere!

Also bought (from a different budget) two pots of Garnier face cream - £4.49 a pot, 2 for £4!

So I am declaring now - almost on budget, so pleased with myself. Means I have spent less this month that for most months this year, plus I have 2 freezers stuffed full, and weight gain all round due to too much apple cake!

I have found myself spending more time in the kitchen so other jobs have fallen by the wayside, but a lot of that was spent peeling apples, and I have just collected the last of them, so one more cake to go and that will be it for this year.

I've also spent more time shopping, but I reckon that will improve as I get a feel for what to buy in each shop.

My other aim was that the family don't notice a difference - well they noticed an increase in cake but apart from that they seem quite happy, so I think that is a result too!
    May spend - £291.40/£320.00
    June spend - £106.40/£320.00
