You'll be surprised what a difference a few little changes will make. Read all the tips on these posts and decide which will best work for you. Maybe make a menu, do a stocktake etc.

When I was in real financial problems I worked out how much I could spend a week, made a list, stuck to the list and only shopped once a week. If you run out - you run out. Just adjust the following week but NEVER go over your weekly budget.

Try to stay out of major SMs. Use pound shops, Al*i, Li*l, F/Foods and Icel*nd and any other cheap shops you have. If you can, grow your own and NEVER throw anything away except real rubbish. Freeze all left overs and use them to make soups. Freeze bread when you buy and defrost as you need.

Once you get into the habit you can then adjust how, and when you shop and start adding in bulk buys. GOOD LUCK

What can you do with a glut of cauli's ??

    NSD for me today

We had 1 for dinner veg. Will make cauliflower cheese.

Few spends taking me up to £178.02 and just two days left so will be another good month. Hope not to spend tomorrow but will be shopping on Thursday.
Had to fight to get two small apple & blackberry crumbles into the freezer. Will be finishing the large one off tomorrow.

    Good morning,

Just today and tomorrow left now and I am still under the set £65. Milk and winter planning still account for most of my spends. I expect to go out one or two of these remaining days. Nevertheless, I am very unlikely to spend much.

Can't believe it, only £3.61 over budget, thats our best month to date! And that includes buying meat from the butcher for a change instead of all at the supermarket. We do have a few sneaky takeaways, however we take them for our own monthly spare cash as I count them as luxuries. Even still I am very pleased! Off to the November challenge as I get paid tomorrow and today will be a NSD.

Good luck for everyone else this month :)

  • Hi Everyone,

I'm reconciling my Oct budget today and I've managed to come in under budget. I'm very pleased. :) It's a combination of reducing my pasta mountain (so increasing my NSD) and using this forum as a way of keeping myself accountable.

So to keep up the good work I'm now popping over the Nov grocery forum. See you over there.

    Thanks Everyone
