    Hi

We've lived off chip butties and toast for 2 days because that was all we had until pay day.

When we first moved in together we lived next door to OH brother and his wife so we took turns sharing the electric (it cut the heating bill in half) one evening in their flat and then one in ours.

    Oh happy days:rotfl: :rotfl:

Many years ago I rented a flat above a shop, it had no heating, windows didn't quite reach the bottom of the window frame, was basically cold, damp and miserable. This flat shared an entrance with the shop through a shared hallway. After a few weeks I realised that there was a plug socket in the hall, so I ran an extension cable up to the flat and stuck a radiator in each room (at the landlords expense) I felt guilty for about a minute because he was a miserable old sod who wouldn't repair anything and only ever grunted at me on (overpriced) rent day.

I also lived off tomato ketchup for 3 days because I had no money for food at all, just a plate with ketchup on. I tried adding water to make soup out of it but that wasn't my finest kitchen hour.

    I've got a bad one

OH best friend was getting married and we were skint so we were stuck for a present. They had a voucher gift list at a shopping centre which OH parents had phoned and added too.

OH phoned up pretending to be his dad and got our names added on to the gift and no-one (in laws anyway) was any the wiser.

I did scrape £1 together in 10p and 5ps to go to iceland for 15 eggs and made all sorts of eggs for lunch and dinner for a few days.

Also invited ourselves to MIL for dinner 3 days in a row to avoid wasting our food.

Offered to work in family take away to take advantage of free meal for me and some leftover to take home to OH.

When I was at uni I had no money so me and a friend used to offer to cook for people if they'd feed us too. Only we'd make the food they gave us to cook go a long way and keep some of it for the next day. We justified it at the time!
