Successful complaints about private parking tickets - how to get them cancelled!

Would you go back if you had parked completely across two bays, comfortably in excess of the allotted time, had not even used the supermarket and had been dealt with politely by the supermarket staff?
Which thread on here are you referencing?
We very rarely (and I mean almost never) see such daft parking. No more than someone driving their car into the supermarket foyer, then riding up and down the aisles in it to do their shopping.
Straw man/iron man, we're dealing with real life issues here and the vast majority of posters, as a worst case scenario, have 'committed' nothing more than absolutely minor indiscretions. Just lay into them and tell them to stump up to a private organisation looking to profit from their misfortune.
If you think their indiscretions are worthy of a £100 penalty, you are just as justified in condemnation by posting as such, as we are in trying to help posters fight their charge.
It's where I (and from experience, where others) stand. Sorry if that doesn't fit comfortably with your views on all this.
Belief, passion and commitment (after dealing with this stuff for so long) can often be so hard to define - and is perhaps where we stand apart. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I am not referencing a thread - nor did you with your example. They were both straw men.
In terms of "daft parking" there have been four cases which I referred to in my thread on ManCos that have appeared here in the last couple of weeks. Because people don't bring their issues to this forum doesn't mean they don't happen, either. I rather suspect that, in the sort of case I alluded to, many people would put their hands up, accept that they were in the wrong and pay the penalty.
And, I have never, ever said that the indiscretions are worthy of £100 penalty. Nor have I said, anywhere, people should just "stump up". I have no idea where you are coming from on that as I thought we were discussing the effect of PPCs on supermarkets. In terms of my "views" I agree with quite a bit of what is said about the current situation with PPCs and think you guys do a great service in assisting those who come here. Even, if sometimes, I have little sympathy with them. I do understand this is a "help" forum. I have been trying to do my bit in areas where I have some knowledge.
Belief, passion and commitment are important, I agree. Where we, perhaps, stand apart is that I have other issues which I feel much more strongly about than PPCs and I expend much of my energy and support there. For example the injustices and inequalities of the benefit system. That's my choice and no-one is right or wrong - we all have our own paths to follow.
Personally, I can't get as worked up and as passionate about the wrongs of PPCs as you and others here. My experiences within my own circles is that my friends and acquaintances would agree (and quite a few have had tickets from PPCs - mostly gym members). As I have said they are irritations but, generally, get forgotten over time.
Anyway I'll leave it (and this forum) there. I've always attempted to be polite and state my case without rancour or favour. But, it does, as BeamerGuy once said, seem that this place really is about us and them. And, just because I am not 100% "one of us" then I probably don't fit
Thanks to all here for some interesting and enjoyable discussions. I sincerely hope that the Greg Knight bill will find it's way through Parliament and that a robust and fair system for both parkers and Landlords/businesses etc who need some kind of parking control will soon be in place.0 -
Sorry to see you leave Neil but as you say, we do sit on the
other side of the fence
I have just returned from a fishing trip in Weymouth
and there is no free parking in any beach car park.
No sign of parking vermin, just council pay machines
and no sign of any wardens or ANPR
People were happily putting in their £1 coins
It was only if you went to a supermarket that the vermin
existed.
There was an out of town Tesco Express garage who had
signs up saying "90 mins" ... but, we all know the Tesco
wheeze, using their own staff to hold their customers
in contempt
YES, supermarkets will lose customers but they don't
know it yet, far too many supermarkets around now
reducing their profits and what they need is a new
baby boomer situation to secure their business in future
Maybe one will wake up and kick out the vermin and
advertise on TV that parking is 100% free, the rest
will follow
So, good luck with your headache, it's a case of introducing
parking vermin and suffer the problems thereafter or just
put up with the situation0 -
Hi I am very new to this! Sorry if this what everyone says and a repeat!
Just to let u know I am deaf and I got a parking charge notice by overstaying at south aylesford retail park because I was there for a birthday meal at nandos and there was a big group of us and food took ages to arrive and we lost track of time as we all were in nandos all that time as we got chatting away. It was on Sunday around 6.20pm to 9.50!! The car park was dead and not many cars and pretty sure there was nothing to say that Car park was 24 hour 7 days a week and normally Sunday is okay! Obviously not! But there was signs all over but I didn’t noticed it as was too distracted!
I want to ask you all if it’s worth appealing as I need a template to send off but I don’t know which one to use.... hope you all would kindly help me......
Kind Regards

Start by reading the Sticky thread for NEWBIES, then send the appeal template from The Keeper that you will find there.
Do not reveal the driver's identity when you appeal, unlike your post here which you should edit or delete to remove that information.
If you need further help, please start your own thread. This one you have posted in is for people who have already beaten the unregulated scam.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -

Lidl/Athena Parking Charge Cancelled in 1 Hour
I received a parking charge for parking 38 minutes over the alloted 90 minutes. I sent an email to Dispute.Resolution@lidl.co.uk and in one hour had a reply saying they would tell Athena to cancel the charge. The was at Lidl Royton where Lidl are also the land owner.
The emails I sent and the response are as follows:

Dear Mr Christian Härtnagel,
RE: Athena Parking Charge Notice: * *** *** ***
I have just received a Civil Parking Charge Notice for parking at LIDL Royton for 1 hour, 48 minutes. As you are both the landowner and the retail owner, I ask that you cancel this charge due to it being unfair, discriminatory and excessive as the car was was not full and therefore no losses were incurred.
We travelled to your store from the Chadderton branch to buy a women's jacket which was part of your 'Special Deals' promotion. The Chadderton branch had not received their stock so we were told to go to the Royton branch. The was a major inconvenience but we have experienced this poor management of the Chadderton store previously.
In the car we had an elderly friend who rarely leaves her house and we were taking her out for this shopping trip which she enjoyed very much. Due to her age and illnesses, she moves very slowly with her walking frame. We spent quite sometime at your store in Royton as it is the biggest Lidl we have ever seen and had items we had not seen in Chadderton. Even after using the check out, we returned to browse the clothes and fresh food items.
As we try and help our friend quite often, we clearly can't afford to shop at your Royton store any more due to the parking costs, but in this instance I ask that you get Athena ANPR Ltd to cancel the notice (Parking Charge Notice: * *** *** ***).
I have attached a photo of the Notice and also of my credit card statement which shows the shopping we did at Royton (sorry I cannot locate the receipt itself). Please also note the amount of shopping we do at your stores round were we live. We are frequent LIDL shoppers and use more than one store. I trust you can sympathise with a dedicated LIDL customer
Your. help in this matter is appreciated.
Yours faithfully

Dear Mr .....
Re: Parking Charge
Thank you for your email addressed to our CEO. I have been asked to respond to you on his behalf.
As you are probably aware, Lidl UK GmbH is a national retailer. As such, we have stores in locations with limited parking space and in common with many of our competitors, our store car parks are abused to a significant and detrimental extent. We have therefore judged it necessary to take measures so that our stores parking facilities are available first and foremost to our customers.
In order to ensure that sufficient parking spaces are available at all times to our customers, Lidl employs third party contractors to monitor and control our car parks. So far, this service has proved reliable and effective in reducing car park abuse and in freeing up spaces for our customers.
In light of your comments, I have contacted the Car Park Management Company and have requested that this charge be cancelled. Your comments regarding our parking restrictions have been noted and passed to the relevant department for their information.
Thank you again for contacting us.
Yours sincerely,
For and on behalf of Lidl UK GmbH
Leonie Faulds

I hope this may help any other unfortunates like me. Good luck0 -
