That's interesting about the differing signs at Kingswood retail Park in Hull. Can you show us the pics of the signs that say £80 and £85 and state when the pics were taken please? It could help someone if a court claim is based around that place. The Parking Prankster may want to blog about it too as it isn't the first time PE have had such an issue (one of their many losses in court was over a sign that said £90 and another one said £100).PRIVATE 'PCN'? Just wanted to say thanks for all the helpful advice on fighting PCNs. Having read through the newbie thread plus lots of posts I sent off the appeal template letter to UKCPS and as a result they have cancelled the PCN posted on the windscreen at Forbury Retail Park, Reading. Thanks guys for the time you take to post such great help and advice.0

Hi All.
Just received a PCN for an overstay (over the 'allowed' 90 mins) at a McDonalds in Shirley, Solihull.
The car is registered to a lease company so I am not the registered keeper.
I contacted the local Manager at the McDonalds restaurant and within 5 mins I had an e.mail copying me in with an e.mail they sent to MET Parking Services, asking them to cancel the parking fine (quoting the PCN number and Car Reg).
I also contacted the lease hire company stating NOT to pay the fine as their covering letter to me stated they would pay on any subsequent notice from MET and then re-charge me!
So my learning is in the 1st instance to contact the retailer (store/shop/cinema/hotel etc) .
Hope this is of help.0 -
We've just received a letter to confirm that our PCN issued by Parkingeye has been cancelled thanks to the help that we got from this forum. We sent a letter to Parkingeye which was cut and paste from this forum and they have written to confirm that they are now cancelling our £100 fine. :T:j:beer: thank you!0

Well done - it was never a 'fine' though - twas a scam, a fake PCN from a nasty aggressive firm.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

My email to CEL was slightly different to the one now in the sticky, but included the first five points plus a comment about the PCN being more than 14 days after the alleged offence.
CEL have written confirming cancellation. Thank you:j0 -
I just want to say a big thank you for all the great advice that is on the site. It has saved me £100.
Yesterday I received a PCN from Parking Eye notifying me that I owed them £100 for parking for too long at the Welcome Break South Mimms service station.
My situation, like many others I've read here, was that I entered the car park when it was pitch black and I was tired from driving. I genuinely never saw the sign upon entry or at any other time. I slept for a few hours in my car and then went into the services for some food and coffee.
This morning I sent a complaint email to the contact address that I found on the Welcome Break website for South Mimms, having spent 10 minutes trying to call them. I also CC'd the Starbucks customer service email address as I'd seen that others had been successful going down this route with this particular service station.
In my email I told them that if I didn't have a response inside 24 hours my next step would be to try to get an answer through their social media channels.
The good news is that I didn't have to do that and didn't even have to start the appeals procedure. I've just had a very polite email from the South Mimms Site Finance Manager saying he has asked Parking Eye to cancel the ticket.
WooHoo!!!
If it would help I'd be happy to post the message that I sent them and the email addresses I used (not sure what the forum rules are on sharing emails).
By the way, the Starbucks Customer Service team responded even more quickly with an offer to investigate, so good for them0 -
Good work. But I wouldn't pop the cork on the champagne until you get written confirmation from PE. Don't forget it's PE who is alleging you owe them money, not the MSA.
That said, PE are pretty good at getting their paperwork 'right' when the Principal orders a a cancellation. But they operate on an industrial scale and things can fall between two stools, so do keep your eye on this and if you've heard nothing more in around 10 days get back on to the MSA, and let us know. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Thanks for the heads-up!
I've got the email from the Finance Manager so if I haven't heard anything from PE in the next 10 days I'll give them a call to make sure everything has gone through ok.
I'll be sure to post an update either way.0
