A warning on Tesco Clubcard points and vouchers - 'expired' vouchers policy change

If only that were the case. It isn't the tone - it's just pure luck that the customer remembered to contact them within a very short time of the expiry.
Confirming ......... the customer FORGOT - the responsiblity is that of the customers' - if they received their vouchers on time and had checked e-mails reminding them of expiry dates then a courteous call to Tesco to request an extension on their "hard earned" vouchers would allow the Tesco Staff to further extend them for 2 years (at their discretion) - simples
I don't think Tesco are isolated in not "honouring" expired vouchers - where do they draw the line?
I can't imagine many high street retail stores allowing you to use an expired credit note or vouchers - what would be the point in having an expiry date?
Credit notes and gift vouchers should not IMO have an expiry date.
It is just a way of the retailer making money out of those that forget to use them.0 -
That's the kind of service I have always had from Tesco anytime I have had issues - that is why I remain loyal to them. Perhaps its the tone in which the customer addresses the issue as opposed to the issue itself - manners cost nothing! Thats great news that you got another 2 years - go Tesco! :T:T:T:T:T
Some of the staff should remember that!.........
Last time I was at Tesco and asked at Customer services if they still gave the bonus club card points when you spent £50 on gift vouchers she looked at me as if I was mad and told me they had never done such a thing. I told her I had done this before she gave me filthy look and told me I could not have done as they have never done this.
I walked out without buying them and rang Tesco when I got home. Yes they still do this I was told and they would speak to the manager about staff training.
So Tesco lost out both in a sale and got a disgruntled customer.0 -

Other people have not been so lucky and have been told that they cannot extend them.
Most likely depends who you get on the other end of the phone.0 -
There is bound to be at least a few inadequately trained staff members who don't know EVERYTHING!!
Granted, she didn't need to give you a look as if you were "mad" - (that's your interpretation.
I think Tesco employ around 530,000 people so fair to say, they will never have 100% on customer service. We only ever hear the bad service people get and I am happy to say I have had nothing but excellent customer service from Tesco Stores, Tesco Direct and Tesco Bank - thats why I continue to shop and bank with them!0 -

Indeed, what is the point of Tesco putting an expiry date on Clubcard points? The only possible reason is to allow Tesco to profit from customers who fail to redeem - there can be no other reason.
I don't share your enthusiasm for Tesco - I see it as a greedy, grasping, rapacious company that will stop at nothing in its relentless pursuit of profits. And that includes clawing back these hard-earned points.0 -

This is not the first time I have had a bad experience from "inadequately" trained staff.
I have been told that double the difference does not apply to reduced goods - yes it does according to HO.
I have had to wait for 'a manager' to do a refund when something was priced wrong on the shelf. She had to contact him three times and we were kept waiting for 15minutes.
When I ordered something on the double up exchange my emails with the codes never arrived. I had to contact them to find out why. My order was chosen at random for "security reasons" to not be released and she could release it now......
I could go on........
Customer service IMO is not what it used to be.0 -
If you look on any of your cash vouchers there will be a 'valid until .....' date, for example the last ones sent out will say '31st Aug 2015' that is two years from date of issue.
I always just threw then away as I was planning to change them up to something else online. I just assumed it was like building up nectar points!
Oh well I know now and shall spend them all soon. I was hoping for tescos double clubcard exchange to use them so I could the money saved towards a holiday0 -
Hard earned?
Hard earned? Certainly - in the sense that you've paid around 30% more for your Tesco products compared with Aldi and Lidl, AND handed Tesco a whole heap of free personal marketing information which is extremely valuable to them. It's sufficiently valuable to fund the entire Clubcard scheme, but they still insist on an expiry date and profiting still further by clawing back the meagre savings made by their cheated customers.0 -
To the best of my knowledge you've never criticised Tesco on MSE, which shows how pointless your signature is.
What, you've just trawled through all my posts, to check that - how bizarre. But then why should I criticise Tesco - I'm not a member of the anti-Tesco brigade.
I try to give relevant information to those in need - if that's not for you fine.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0
