Please excuse me if I am missing the point here, however, am I not correct in saying that you DO NOT purchase Clubcard vouchers - these are a loyalty bonus from Tesco and come in the form of "Vouchers" - not a gift card that you purchase. Retailers are not obliged to provide vouchers for customers for loyalty and therefore they have the same approach as "money off" vouchers which retailers offer to entice customers to purchase either branded products from their store or a store of their choice - these all have expiry dates (to the best of my knowledge).

I would fully understand someones frustration at a Gift Voucher which was purchased with cash not being honoured after a period of time, however, the Clubcard scheme does not operate under the same genre - more like "money off" coupons or vouchers.

You may argue back that you pay "hiked up" prices at Tesco and are "entitled" to clubcard points, but you do have a choice of store to shop in and if the Clubcard Scheme is not beneficial to you then don't spend your money in Tesco - simples!!

I, personally, think the Clubcard loyalty rewards is fantastic and has enabled me to purchase items that I would not normally be able to afford or give my children vouchers to treat themselves to a Pizza Express or a Day Out" !

Next time you get a "money off" coupon in a magazine, allow it to expire and take it to Aldi, Lidl, Waitrose, Morrisons and let us know how many of them accept the voucher - would be interesting.

Now, I will get off my soap box and go purchase my Hudl using my Clubcard Loyalty vouchers - could never have afforded it otherwise!

What, you've just trawled through all my posts, to check that - how bizarre. But then why should I criticise Tesco - I'm not a member of the anti-Tesco brigade.
I try to give relevant information to those in need - if that's not for you fine.

I've got no need to trawl through your posts because every time somebody criticises Tesco on MSE you leap onto the thread and defend Tesco to the hilt.

You're a member of the pro-Tesco brigade because you work for them but try to give the impression you are an independent thinker with that ridiculous signature.

Incidentally I've never seen you defending Tesco's competitors with the zealotry you show for your Lords and Masters.

I have shopped on many occasion in Lidl and Aldi (very British names!) - and never have I noticed a 30% saving on my bill!

I was delighted to be able to hand £40 of Pizza Express vouchers to my son to put towards his birthday treat for his friends and it cost me .......... £10 of "loyalty" vouchers - now there's a winner!!

I have absolutely NO ISSUES with my personal shopping data being used - why should I? They don't have my bank details, nor my identity, nor my vital statistics (well - maybe my jeans size from the "affordable" jeans I buy at Tesco) but hey, whats the problem in that - helps me get the vouchers I can use instead of receiving £5 off a bottle of whisky that I would NEVER purchase! Every voucher I receive is relevant to the items I purchase - FANTASTIC IDEA Tesco - another thing you get right.

Keep up the good work Tesco and me and my family will continue to reap the benefits - sometimes a little extra on the weekly shopping bill rewards itself in other ways - :T:T:T:T

The customers of Tesco's Covent Garden store certainly got a little extra - rotting rodent corpses and an unbearable smell.

    Today's Telegraph:

Tesco profits fall as sales slide around the world

Tesco, Britain's biggest retailer, has reported a fall in like-for-like sales across all its ten international businesses in the first half of the year, prompting a sharp decline in profits.

So Tesco's UK sales continue to fall (when you exclude new stores) - Aldi sales, meanwhile are up 40% in a year.

Customers (ex-customers, actually) have seen through all its fake pricing, fake product claims and its other deceitful practices and are leaving a sinking ship.

Better watch out for your job, Catman - you could soon be working for Aldi! :)

    Just a quick tip.

If a voucher is nearing expiry, find the cheapest item on Tesco Direct and buy it using your voucher for click n collect. The balance over the value of the item is re-credited to your clubcard account as points.

I think you will find they have covered that one as well now.

"Relevant sections of the terms and conditions can be found below, for the full terms and conditions please visit:
Reward tokens cannot be transferred, bought, sold or in any way traded. They cannot be exchanged or reissued. Details can be found on the reverse of the tokens or at tesco.com/rewards (please copy and paste the link)
Clubcard accounts, cards, key fobs, coupons, points and vouchers cannot be transferred, bought, sold or in any way traded.

    Tesco Freetime may refuse (at all times acting reasonably) any Clubcard reward order where there is evidence of abuse or attempted abuse of the Clubcard Scheme or where the customer has not acted as a consumer. To avoid any doubt, abuse includes, but is not limited to;
    a. having Clubcard accounts in fictitious names,
    b. having multiple Clubcard accounts or multiple addresses, multiple memberships of a Clubcard club,
    c. claiming points not earned from their own transactions,
    d. exceeding the maximum points earned limit,
    e. making multiple purchases that breach the terms and conditions associated with the product offer,
    f. the returning of goods for a refund and keeping the Clubcard points earned from the purchase,
    g. the breaching of any terms of the Clubcard scheme,
    h. redeeming Clubcard vouchers for the sole purpose of extending the life of the Clubcard points by submitting vouchers where the value of the reward would give a refund of more than 50% in points change."

Out of interest - did the £10 off voucher from Ikea have an expiry date?

Yes, but my post was about customer service and benefits which come free.

The voucher was not earned with points so is not comparable anyway .

(Something strange happening with the quotes here!!)

Not sure of the relevance of this - thought the discussion was about expired Clubcard vouchers????

I think it's become a little wider than that now, because some posters are suggesting that Tesco is somehow a 'better' supermarket chain than the discounters.

It very clearly isn't - indeed I'd argue that it's very much inferior to Aldi and Lidl in many ways. The rodents at the Covent Garden store were no surprise. I have photos of dead rats outside our local Tesco but Tesco weren't remotely interested - presumably it's normal for Tesco.

I wouldn't like to say what I have experienced outside the Aldi store that I have visited - the areas they choose to locate to say it all!

You're a bit out of date. They've moved considerably upmarket, with nice, bright, large new stores in very good locations. Ours opened right next door to Tesco and took away a large part of its trade within a year.

    East Anglian Daily Times:

The retailer is increasingly opening in affluent locations such as Chancellor George Osborne’s constituency in Knutsford, Cheshire, with its 500th UK store due to open in Bury St Edmunds next month.
