A warning on Tesco Clubcard points and vouchers - 'expired' vouchers policy change

Am I missing the point here?
Surely, just use the vouchers before the expiry dates?
I dont see why tesco should give you more than 2 years, that seems generous enough to me?
I get quite a few Luncheon vouchers for surveys and they usually have a years date on them so I just make sure that I use them within the year.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Yes, I'm afraid you're entirely missing the point.
1 Why is it 'generous' of Tesco to take back money that you've rightfully earned after 2 years? There's no need at all for a time limit. Imagine the reaction if banknotes had a time limit!
2 It's the same with Luncheon Vouchers or gift vouchers generally. They've been paid for in some way or other, the companies have had the cash, and there's no earthly need (apart from greed) for any time limit on usage.
3 People make mistakes and miss deadlines. Some also prefer to save for a larger item that takes a while to save up for. The old system allowed for that, and allowed customers to renew vouchers. The new system doesn't.
It's just another example of the hard-nosed Tesco mentality that's aimed at fleecing its customers - remember the recent strawberries mispricing prosecution? And the horsemeat?

When did Tesco Clubcard vouchers become money? They are vouchers, and bonus vouchers at that.
It is certainly not money rightfully earned.0 -

Sorry I totally disagree, Tesco vouchers are just a bonus for you they are not actual money rightfully earned in my opinion.
If people choose to shop at Tesco and then let vouchers expire, its the fault of the shopper and not Tesco.
2 years is more than fair, they email people to remind them that the vouchers are about to expire and also email a few times before they expire to remind the customer to use them, what more can they do?
If people really find that a 2 year window to use the vouchers is unfair then I would suggest they vote with their feet and shop elsewhere.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I'm so glad I dont shop at Tesco for the sole purpose of collecting vouchers\points. I cannot imagine such an expiry policy on 2 Yr old vouchers is going to cause much of a dent in their customer statistics.
I frequent Asda, Lidl and Aldi on occasions, but the bulk of my shopping is done at Tesco. Points or vouchers are the very last on my list, if I can be bothered to deal with them at all. Even my money off saving receipts end up in the bin. I guess I am not shop savvy enough to collect them.

Already done, long ago.
When they revamped the Clubcard scheme to reduce the value of the points some time back I took a long hard look at the scheme and decided that a tiny percentage back through Clubcard really wasn't worth having, compared with savings of around 30% with Aldi. What Aldi don't sell is easily obtainable from Waitrose, and Waitrose (for just a little more than Tesco) is streets ahead on both quality and customer service. Much nicer customers, too.
Tesco's now the shop of last resort in this neck of the woods. Horrible store, not very nice staff, and the Aldi that opened next door to it has taken a large chunk of its trade. Waitrose took a chunk too, when that opened. At least the Tesco store is a lot less crowded than it used to be!0 -
But you don't have to shop at Tesco to gain points. I get most of mine for using my Tesco credit card and also via my utilities company.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

2 Years is adequate...how much more time do people need? I use mine at Cafe Rouge and RAC membership.
You can shop at Sainsbury's for Nectar points instead otherwise.0 -

Two years might be adequate for you, but it isn't for a lot of people. Just try getting enough together for something larger, such as a holiday.
Can you give me one good reason for any time limit at all (other than Tesco's desire to claw back money)?0
