The new iPhone or iPhones!

  • I was very dissapointed with the upgrade. The 5C is just an iPhone 5 with a plastic case and has ios7 on it.

What you should do if you have an iPhone 5 is buy a plastic case. Upgrade the software to ios7 and then you pretty much have an iPhone 5C. The only thing good about the iPhone 5S is the finger print scanner. That to me is not a good incentive to sell my iPhone 5 and upgrade to an S.

Very dissapointed. The only reason people will buy them is just so they can say 'yeah I have an iPhone 5S'. Its just going to be bragging rights over everybody. I would rather keep the money in my bank!

May as well just wait until next year for when the 6 comes out.

I want apple to make an iPhone with a giant screen like Samsung, I'm surprised they haven't.

I believe they want to preserve 'the ability to comfortably use the phone with one hand.'
either that or save money on screens whilst milking the Ibuyers fro all they can
I'll stick with my HTC One ;)
  • As a moneysaver, the 2nd hand market will now be flooded with mint 4s and 5 handsets. As well as suppliers' surplus stock for brand new ones. Won't it?

I don't think it will be because people will surly see the iPhone and think its not that much better and hopefully stick with there phone they have now. Maybe a lot of 4 and a few 4s' will become availble but I think the a lot of people with the five will keep hold of it.

Many queries on the tech press about the value of 64-bit for under 4GB of RAM. Could even be a hindrance. Be good to see when the proper analytics are released.

To be honest, we've more or less reached a bit of a technology plateau with smartphones. The incremental releases we'll see tonight, and on other occasions with Samsung/Google, are pretty minor and not that significant.

Maybe the phone will be a bit slimmer, a bit faster, a bit cheaper, a bit bigger, a bit less power hungry. Maybe we'll get RFID capability. Who knows... but I think it will be underwhelming...

These were my thoughts even a year ago. They haven't changed. I'm right with you. Much as a I love my 6th generation iPhone (erroneously called the "iPhone 5) I admit that it was a disappointment. Apple have always been revolutionary. Maybe we're spoiled but I expected a revolution with the 6th gen iPhone and was hoping for it from the 7th gen. Maybe Apple aren't at fault and there isn't really much more that can be done with 'phones. I think Apple and Samsung are down to competing on speed, screen size and quality and camera quality. Nothing more.

iOS 7 is more important (and free) than the new hardware to be honest.

All this said, I'm a technophile. One way or another I'll be getting a 7th gen premium iPhone. Maybe "mug" is the right word?
  • Just saw an excellent presentation from Apple which is under the Apple section via an Apple tv if you have one. It's prob on YouTube now too.
Anyway...both phones should be out by end of month (5c around 18th, 5s the 23rd). They both look great. Both will be faster with the A7 chip, and theres another chip m7 for graphics (I think) in the 5s. There are quite a lot of changes both physically, graphically, and internally along with Pages,Keynote,Numbers,iPhoto,iMovie all included for free. iOs7 will be out at same time. Prices with a two year contract are iPhone 4 -free, 5c-$99, and 5s-$199 <- for 16 Gb and up from those prices for more Gb. But I don't know what that will translate to in £.
