Husband Problems

Hi I need some advice.

My husband was made redundant 18 months ago. He tired to find work for the first 6 with no success. He decided to become self-employed.

He invested around 10k from his redundancy in equipment. He is a good tradesman, but to date has not tried to find any customers.

I am now working 7 days a week, working two jobs. We have 3 children to support and debts to pay and of course other bills.

I am now so tired and frustrated, he has excuse after excuse as why he hasn't tried to get work. When I try to encourage him and tell him we need more money coming into the house, he replies I have worked 15 years and many weekends and goes in a "huff". I feel I am treading on eggshells around him.

I am also having to do the housework and cooking.

Please give me any advice as what to do?

Many thanks in advance.

If you are working 2 jobs and doing all the housework and cooking what on earth is he doing during the day?

So why are you doing the home stuff ? Don't do it -tell him he's at home -you are working so he can do it until he gets off his butt and finds customers.

I'd say if you want to be a house husband I expect all the shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry, DIY and gardening to be done. You've had a year of sitting on yer bum - get off it or you're divorced.

    what is his trade ?
  • Thanks, think I just needed to hear other peoples opinions.

His excuses are no one will buy, need other equipment (which I bought) it takes time, need a website.

I thought about leaving just really doubting myself.

Seriously, if the boot were on the other foot, if it were him working 2 jobs, what would his reaction be if you just walked the dog and watched tv?

You are out working 2 jobs, you don't have time to look after the house and cook, he does.

Tell him that as of now he is looking after the house and kids. Don't be taken for a mug.
  • If I didn't clean, shop, cook it wouldn't get done. I am so tired and emotional, he even stopped signing on as it was too stressful for him, he signed off after the JSA stopped but his stamp isn't being paid now.

Sorry don't want to say what trade as people may recognise me, sorry.
