  • :rotfl: Granny I used to do that too! It always back fired on me though because my sisters would get a chocolate each morning and id already eaten mine (usually in November when my mum gave the advent calender to me to put in my room ) :o:rotfl:

CR all quiet on the dog front, she's totally destroyed their lush green grass  rather than mine I hasten to add...I'm not that spiteful :p she's also started tunnelling under the fence but I've not said anything, DH is home tomorrow and he's not particularly impressed with how they've spoken to me so if the dog gets under he can deal with it not me :D

  • Warning, bit of a rant so feel free to skip!

Well where do I start? Nothing ever seems to run smoothly in the DF house does it . So I'll start with DH, he isn't home yet, his flight was delayed and he might be home tomorrow now -but i'll be the last to know no doubt...! So then yesterday my internet went off, not sure what was wrong with it but they got an engineer out today so pretty quick :T they've given me a new box to plug in and it's working but veeeeeeeeeeery slowly  so not entirely sure it's been fixed properly?!

Yesterday I also lost one of the children I look after. :(:(:wall:. She came out after school and met me (the 10yr old) said something about being worried about having forgotten something. I was in the middle of talking to a teacher so asked her to hold on. I turned around less than 10 seconds later and she'd gone :(. We searched the playground (both infants and jnrs) also went home, then to the shop, then back to her school. I called her mum who in turn called the police at around the 50 minute mark.

There was a Christmas fete on in her school hall so it was absolutely rammed solid, I asked the head teacher to look for her as well as anyone else I knew in there. We couldn't find her anywhere and I was so worried :( I was extremely grateful to the smaller kids teacher who happened to be there with her son and she watched my 4 other kids and my friends 2 whilst we went off on another search. The head teacher by this point was getting worried too, he told me he'd searched the school grounds so he was going to have a drive around and see if he could see her. An hour or so had passed by this point. Honestly my heart was in my mouth and I can't tell you what I was thinking had happened :( it was awful and I never want it to happen again.

The teacher who had been sat with the kids asked if we'd been around the side of the building because there was a walk way and you can see in all the classrooms. My friend went off and I stood there on the phone to her mum explaining what we'd done to find her and what had happened, she was obviously in tears and distraught. She had left work but it takes her 40 minutes to get home. My friend came running back from around the side of the school having found her, in a classroom with 2 other girls and a teacher.
    Dance practice.
I was fuming, happy, angry, having mild heart failure all at the same time. I went in and demanded she get dressed and come out (they had just finished anyway) she burst into tears, the teacher pointed out it wasn't her fault and got defensive towards me so I got pretty upset actually and pointed out that we'd just spent 60 minutes looking for her after she ran off without telling me where she'd gone. Her mother was worried, the police had been rung and perhaps she ought to stop standing there standing up for her and go and ring the head teacher to come back because he too had gone out looking for her .

I feel like i'm to blame and I wonder what on earth I must have done to deserve all this bad karma coming my way. It has been non stop these last few weeks and I am still not over this little incident. The most annoying thing is when I tried to talk to her about it and make sure she knew the protocol for making sure I had heard, knew where she was etc etc she just burst in to tears as if she'd had the hard end of the deal. I found it very hard to have any sympathy and left her crying in my front room (wailing actually and shouting at all the other kids if they went near her) until her mum turned up. I'm so not interested in drama queens. I treated her the same as I would have done my own if they had done that to me and I told her mum this. Her mum spent 20 minutes telling me it wasn't my fault. I don't really believe this though, she insists she told me and I just never heard her (I don't have very good hearing anyway) so I guess I'm partially to blame :( so fed up now and really am regretting taking the job but you know how it is, needs must and to move out of here we need savings.

I also am quite angry at the head though, he assured me he'd searched the classrooms which he clearly hadn't the panic could have been over and done with in 10 minutes if he'd done as he'd said. But oh well it's done now and I hope it doesn't happen again.

I also opened my wine last night felt I deserved a glass and after 2 small ones I was sick everywhere. It was awful and I feel so terrible today now. SO that is my update, very dismal and nothing exciting, sorry, do find it quite cathartic writing it all down though!

I am pretty sure you have done nothing to deserve all this upset recently. I cant make up my mind if i would feel worse if i was in charge of someone elses child or if one of my own had vanished. Either way it is a horrible experience that i hope you never have to repeat. Also hope the other children have seen how upset you got and they then will twice before wandering off. Glad she was found safe though. Really hope things improve once hubby home :)

  • Aw Hun, what a day you had!! I agree, I don't know whether it is worse to lose one of your own or someone elses! I think you should believe your friend when she said she doesn't blame you though.

Hope DH gets home soon Xx

Don't blame yourself, it can happen to anyone. I lost DS on the beach once, he was under 7 at the time, had walked down to the sea with DD and just disappeared. It was awful, he was found, after what felt like hours, having wandered down the beach to watch the puppet show without telling his sister. It had to be one of the most frightening times of my life. To top it all I had a parking ticket when I got back to my car late because of it.

I don't think you have bad karma, I just think things are magnified because you are dealing with it all on your own.

like Lucky says believe your friend when she says she doesn't blame you and treat yourself with the same kindness too.

hope OH gets home nice and early tomorrow and provides you with a shoulder of support

  • Morning and thank you all for popping in... my Internet went off again right after posting:eek:! I've managed to pop in on a few diaries over the last few days when I've been out and about and waiting around for kids etc but it's finally back on now so can hopefully get on here at some point and see how you all are. ..Granny I just posted on your diary and then it disappeared :o I hope I didn't post elsewhere by accident as I'm on my phone and find it tricky to do anything :o:rotfl:

    DH is home :T

The car got a flat tyre, the iron completely broke, ds1 has completely outgrown his shoes to the point his feet are poking out so we have to buy new today and the broadband broke as I said which meant another engineer who was here for over an hour trying to do it   im hoping this is the end of my bad luck now!

Christmas shopping for the kids is done :) and in budget :T but we still can't decide on what to get our siblings I'm thinking a token gift of food or wine (his family aren't big drinkers though! ) and he's thinking hampers each of around £20 each. No chance! Off to a Christmas fair today will see if we can find something there ;)

I'll be back later if the internet holds up :)

Enjoy the fair OHs are strange aren't they £20 each

I'm not buying for extended family this year. My list is DGC, DD, DS and DDIL plus DMIL, DF and DM with my 2 parents just having something small to show I thought of them. DDs present needs to be posted today and that alone will cost £20+ but she's worth it. I bought for her throughout the year and am super pleased with her box

Each year, Christmas and birthday I put a small box together for her with lots of small bits, mascara, face cream, lip balm etc. this year DS asked me to knit the DGC Xmas stockings and my 1st go ended up too small but rather cute - think 2 year old thigh length sock. Instead of unravelling it I decided to fill it up with DD stuff and even if I say so myself it's amazing.

    Enjoy your day

I brought my xmas deccies down last weekend as I remembered some of them where on their last legs last xmas. All acceptable deccies and xmas trees are now up and twinkling brightly.

Usually I'm the mad woman going around shouting to turn off lights, switch off unused charges and tv,s playing to themselves, to save money on our electric bills but come xmas decs I have as many lit up as possible.

I love a good clean of a house and the glass of wine at the end of the day to recover. :)x
