Morning!!!
My laptop is dying a slow death but i've got it working for now :T so a quick update. I've tried to get on on my phone so I can keep up with the goings ons, especially thinking of KJ and a few others atm. Unfortunately with my phone I've got fat fingers I think and every time I try to click on the see more threads bit i accidentally hit the adverts for elsewhere on the site and keep being directed to those places insteadso can only click on the top few diaries that have been recently added to :rotfl: sill fat fingers!
This morning I've checked my email because I have the same problem on my phone for the emails too :rotfl: I had an email from my gas/elec supplier telling me my bill has changed so I immediately got my  head on and called up, to be told that all of their other customers were on the phones and that they were very busy and would I like to hold ! 20 minutes later........I was :mad::mad: from listening to their silly music! Then the man threw me by being nice, how can I be mean when they are practically smiling down the phoneand then he told me my bill had decreased (???????? when does this ever happen!) So I ended the conversation by also smiling down the phone :rotfl:! The bill had reduced from £96 (gas & elec) to £50 :eek::eek::eek: But we decided this was silly and my bill would be huge in a few months after all the heating I would be using so we agreed on £80 :T £16 less still than I had :T:beer:. My  head has gone and i'm now
.
Tax credits have come in and I usually put straight into savings towards next months money but we're brokei've bought far too many bottles of wine to see me through the holidays thus far, and oh yes, that's right it's not even the holidays yet . Ho Hum. I hate winter and have been feeling very blue (my fingers are actually blue:rotfl:) AND here's the confessions.........wine (already mentioned), chocolate especially those yummy yule logs
, a pair of new boots, a few new tops, extra xmas presents not budgeted for
. BUT in true DFW style I got a great bargain on the clothes and boots! I went into the department store thinking of spending between £50-100 on a good pair of knee high boots, well I found a pair of £110 boots in the reduced cos the zip was dodgy. So I spent 30 minutes or so perusing the clothing section and constantly trying the 'broken' zip. Not broken! So put them on and walked around a bit, still not broken. Was now confused so went and asked someone how they were broken, and the sales assistant couldn't see how they were broken too  so I picked a few tops up that I did need (all 50% off don't worry
) and went to the changing room and tried them on again :rotfl: i'd already worn them in and couldn't find a fault so thought :j £110 pair for £55 :T went off to buy them, picked up 2 jumpers for DH for his xmas pressie (40% off :T and buy one get one half price:T) and paid, the entire bill came to £105
but I had 4 tops, 1 dress, 1 pair of lovely italian boots and 2 jumpers :j. Checked bill and the boots had gone through at £17 :eek::eek::eek::beer:. There was an offer on in the shop for 30% off everything in that section but I had assumed it wouldn't be for the faulty items and so I had actually got the 50% off cos of the fault and then 30% off too
I was very happy! And now have lovely waterproof boots :T
Kids break up over Thursday and Friday and DH isn't sure when he breaks up, so far he's been working all hours and i'm not happy as this morning I found out lots of men that came back at the same time as him were put straight on to xmas leave but him and a few others were made to work right up to xmas. Not impressed!
Neighbour called DH out yesterday to chat to him about the dog, he apologised to my DH and then went on to say can my children not feed his dog through the fence and poke her with sticks. I'm so not happy. Number 1 I should have gotten the apology. Number 2 my children haven't been outside with food since October, well before they brought the dog home?! Number 3 we have no sticks in the garden for them to be poking the ruddy dog with . I feel like DH only got the apology so they could throw a few more digs in!!!!!!! DH is such a pushover and didn't say anything, no wonder they didn't call me out cos I would have told them what for :mad::mad:! Ruddy liars!!!!! Get a proper fence instead of a few pallets and then my children won't go anywhere near the damned fence!!!!!! *rant over*
Still need to buy xmas food, week one after payday I spent £120 on food but week 2& 3 (this week) i've only spent around £80 for both weeks we've been eating out of stores & freezers and popped to farm shop for bits. But because i've not spent a lot i'm happy to spend a bit more for the holidaysso will do a meal planner and see what yummy foods we can eat
. Money will come from the tax credits though as i've spent everything else
!
No news on the letting the house out. He's not got back to me, I find letting agents so slack! I've asked him to find someone to do the work on the house that needed doing so waiting to hear back now. I can't find my landlords gas safety inspection, the last tenant had it and isn't answering me :wall: so I think I will have to just pay for this again and hopefully the house will be ready for new year now.
Think i've nattered on enough anyway  so will leave it therehope everyone is ok xx

Afternoon DFW!
Yay to your gas bill being reduced but glad you got on the phone and made it more realistic. Annoys me when they do that and lower it too much.
Double yay to the department store bargains, you deserve those things, youve gone without for long enough.
Grrrr to the neighbour, he obviously called DH out as he knew he was lying and knew he wouldnt get away with it with you!
Cant believe some of the men got put on holiday leave and some didnt, thats hardly fair is it! How do they decide who gets what leave?

Brilliant news about the energy bill and practically free boots

Grrrr to neighbour and slack letting agents though. XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Hello
Well the neighbours have caused a fall out between me and DH today. I honestly feel like i'm in the wrong now and very confused. The neighbour walked past us both this morning on the school run and made a point of saying Hello to DH and completely blanked me. DH said hello and smiled and that was it I went absolutely nuts. I honestly feel like he's stabbing me in the back doing this. He thinks i'm over reacting and so we've fallen out. I absolutely hate living here and I really need a plan to get out very soon or I think I will just go mad (well madder than I already am!)
I also had a bit of an annual melt down yesterday over presents (or lack of in my eyes) and the price of the food shoppingwe spent £190 in a1di and sainbug:( £30 was probably on alcohol, £20 on snacky bits, £20 on crackers, small stocking fillers (food bits) and the rest on the weekly shop as well as xmas day/ xmas eve shop. I've totally blown the budget now and spent all the food money for the year and also have no petrol money left to get to MIL, my mums, my dads between boxing day and the 29th
. I'm not happy. DH thinks we didn't spend enough and reckons people probably spend up to £500 :eek::eek::eek:. No way?! Because of the overspend I have had to take out the money that i'd put in the emergency fund this month so have hardly saved a penny. So not happy!
I've been on the phone to the DPS this morning and I have to start a single claim process as the tenant hasn't replied to them about the claim i've already done for the deposit. Why can nothing ever be easy. I've emailed her again and probably won't get a reply. I've told her i've knocked off a week's rent but charged her for the carpets to be cleaned and that if she releases the money to me she only owes £400 (or thereabouts) will see what she says. That money would be very handy right now to top up accounts and also the petrol fund. I still need to do a spreadsheet for 2014. I've lost the template that I had for 2013 so will have to start all over again and i'm so computer illiterate that I'm putting if off as it will take me ages
Anyway aside from one present which didn't turn up (it had best do before xmas eve ) we're all done now. Oh actually I lie. We still need money for fresh stuff for xmas day. Haha, where shall I borrow that money from? The empty car fund, the nearly empty rental fund or the emergency fund which is also looking quite bare now :eek::eek:.

poor you. you dont sound like you have the xmas spirit at the moment. DH is probably trying to keep peace (as this is what my OH would have done too) as he didnt want to cause a scene - little did he realise (as they dont generally think before acting - that it would upset you.
I have bought most of our food and it really doesnt look like a lot, but we are out for several days so didnt want too much. I was lucky to have a mr s voucher for £35 and we dont drink so didnt need alcohol. OH bought me a sack of spuds when he was at the local chippy ( you caught me we had takeaway the other day). Spent more than planned over this month though and i think its quite normal even for those of us trying to budget and be good.
Hopefully you are now on speaking terms with OH and will get to enjoy the holidays.Me, DD1 20, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190 -

Good things today! (Let's be positive eh)
My eldest got a letter from school commending him on excellent attendance, participation and effort in class and sports and he's the pupil of the term in his house
The last present turned up today:T
I've found some money for petrol although not a lot so hoping it's enough without raiding banks savings again!
I'm also thinking about setting myself a target for savings next year as I'm desperate to move. Had a little look at the frugal living challenge and might take the plunge...Mortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. J- £103.27, F- £115, M- £91.50, A- £100, M- £200, J- £200. I agree with SLM - it's a man thing - they will see that it is better to be speaking to the neighbours than not plus of course he was not there during the worst of it so won't really know how upset you were (although you would have thought he could have got the message from all the telephone messages you left)I also had a bit of an annual melt down yesterday over presents (or lack of in my eyes) and the price of the food shoppingwe spent £190 in a1di and sainbug:( £30 was probably on alcohol, £20 on snacky bits, £20 on crackers, small stocking fillers (food bits) and the rest on the weekly shop as well as xmas day/ xmas eve shop. I am also having a silent melt-down about all the money that has been spent - I darent mention it to DH otherwise he will stress and then he gets a bad head and that's all we need to ruin Xmas.
I guess I will have to cancel some DD's - my issue is that I had £400 so if the cat hadn't swallowed a stone and had to have emergency treatment I would not be spending this months wages on Xmas stuff!! :mad:I've been on the phone to the DPS this morning and I have to start a single claim process as the tenant hasn't replied to them about the claim i've already done for the deposit. Why can nothing ever be easy. I've emailed her again and probably won't get a reply. That money would be very handy right now to top up accounts and also the petrol fund
I have done a single claim process for a tenant I helped who's landlord's letting agent (hopefully you follow) was arrested by the police and his agency folded but DPS won't allow anyone else to discuss the deposit even though I offered to give them the landlords name (landlord not bothered either) so I did the claim for the tenant and then she had to see a solicitor to sign an affadvit thing that basically said she believed she was due all the deposit back but if in the future the agent came back she would be liable - it only cost her £5:T and she got £600 back:T
