I'll have a look on payday
ds1's laptop needs fixing too though which is another expense. I guess worst case scenario is we put less into savings this month to get caught up on what we have bought

Well DH thinks he can fix DS1's laptop so he's going to try and do that later. He's just popped out for me to the butchers to get the month's shopping. It means borrowing more money from the emergency funds but it's all budgeted for so on payday (Monday) I will pay that straight back
I've added October's meal plan to page 1 of this diary for my reference as well as anyone else who wants to be (un)inspired :rotfl: I've kept meals Monday-Thursday very basic and cheap as that is when I have 8 mouths to feed  Over the last month I've noticed that I've been tweaking the plan as I was going along and taking out the meat wherever possible
partly due to cost and partly due to the kids generally leaving the meat but always gobbling up things like JP, mash, Veg & generally non-meat items! Why waste my money I thought! SO mainly same meals over those days each week. Very repetitive but very cheap (and the sausages which have been demanded on nearly every day this last month have made an appearance every week
they are very nice butcher's sausages with apple & pork so I can see why they kept asking :rotfl:)
My ds2 & dd are outside playing in the mud. >Literally playing IN the mud ....They also have an old cardboard box that transported ds1 bike to our house. It is currently covered in mud and chalk and grass :rotfl:. They are making a snail trail (on closer inspection there are a dozen snails on there too . Oh well, they are happy I guess :rotfl:
So meal plan done, house quickly cleaned and hoovered & banking done for today. Not a NSD after all but it does save me driving to the farm on Monday for the meat, and I wanted to stay in so I don't miss my bike delivery:D.
Fajitas for dinner. Not on our meal plan but it's nice to deviate once in a while (or every other day like I did this month :rotfl:) I have done the plan though so I know I have enough meat & I will make sure I have enough veg/dried/tinned stuff and then I can basically make what I like so long as it's no extra cost
DH has also cut the dog's hair this morning so he's done now for the winter and saved us £30it's a bit of a bodge in some places but it grows back ok (I know because it's the same place he bodges each time lol) and the bare skin bit should be covered in a couple of weeks time :rotfl:.
Now off to write the dried food shopping list as I will need to do that on Monday or Tuesday
P.s did I say the choc fudge cake turned out yummy although I def prefer butter to oil in cakes (naughty!) and it had manuka honey so was almost healthyMORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. From what I've read of you, you'd be perfect for Home Start! What a good organisation to help too, I've met lots of people through my job who have had support from them.
I don't think boys are ever too old for bikes. My 27 year old boyfriend still merrily bikes his way to football on a Sunday. They're so MSE too.Barclaycard [STRIKE] £2770 [/STRIKE] now £2690.
O/D £500. Weight loss: 12/28lbsSavings owed [STRIKE] £3000 [/STRIKE] now £2250

Ah thank youI've still not heard back from them so I hope they think so too ... I'm doing the nhs health champions course next month so that's something else I can help volunteer with if the home start falls through

On the bike subject my bike arrived yesterday :j dh put it together and ds1 and I went out so I could show him a safe route to school using bike paths. Well half way there his handle bars literally fell off  we just happened to be near a cycle shop (what luck!) So we popped in and they were very nice, especially considering i'd left my purse at homethey fixed all the bits dh had done wrong
and gave me a speech on how it was better to buy locally from people who knew what they were doing and that also ds could have picked a bigger bmx than he had currently. Hmmm oh well I tried to get him to choose a different bike altogether but he's so stubborn he refused so I will make him use the bmx now that he has! So in my sons case his bikes have gotten smaller and slower (no gears!) Lol :rotfl:

I think we were talking about a different type of bike, DFW. ... I used to have a Triumph Bonneville before our son was born.
Mrs. K. has still got a BSA tucked away in the garage.
LOL re. the BMX, until your post I didn't realise that kids still wanted them. :rotfl:2018 totals:

Ds wants an upgrade to an american muscle car when he is 17.....I told him he'd best start saving now then
if I have to drive a 12 year old volvo I'm certainly not buying him anything better

:rotfl: Whilst not an American muscle car, a classic is a good (MSE) first car: very cheap to service, run, insure and most likely free to tax.2018 totals:
