  • Well I've had an awful afternoon, I've been in tears for most of it, not good when you need to do a school run and sit in a swimming pool which is super crowded in the viewing area and run around after kids and do dinner :(. I did get the cupboard finished. I took down the shelves we'd put up and filled them in, sanded them down and painted it all. I couldn't make a decision on whether to sell the sewing machine which is rarely used, nor the knitting stuff which I hardly touch. I've also unknowingly thrown out all the knitting patterns to make my blanket squares :(. So anyway the cupboard's done but i've had my mind elsewhere so didn't throw much out because I wasn't in the right frame to be doing it. DH and I have had words again and i'm so tempted to just pack my bags and move right now I can't even express to him how unhappy I am without him jumping down my throat and telling me that all I think about is myself.

It has been a NSD but I wish i'd bought some chocolate, wine or some other junk to help me through another lonely boring evening on my own. Bah, i'm full of self pity this afternoon aren't I. Sorry :o.

To make things worse DS1 is crying his eyes out upstairs and won't let me in to talk to him :(:( Between the pair of us I just don't know what to do. He was in a mood this morning but this afternoon he's just not happy and I hate seeing him like that I feel so helpless. I really hope it's just a girl or a bit of stress and not depression like I have.

Anyway I think DH is now back a week later than planned so there was me thinking I only had a few more days on my own but nope I have at least one whole week left by the sounds of it. Being an army wife is S*** for 90% of the time!

    Hi DFW321

Sorry you had such a terrible afternoon yesterday. Hope you are feeling a lot better today. You sound very lonely. Isn't there anyone nearby that you can have a good chat to?

    Have a dodgy hug. :grouphug:

DS1 seems to have perked up a little this morning, he just looks very sad though. He has a rugby dinner do tonight, I now wish I'd made more of an effort and bought myself a ticket and got a babysitter in so I could have gone with him for a bit of one to one time. Too late now though as tickets have sold out so I hope he cheers up there a little. As for the flight delays, who knows. I give up with the army to be honest, I never believe a word they say until it happens. I just hope it's not delayed any further than the extra week :(

Thank you Dolphin, dodgy hugs accepted here :) I am lonely and so many of my friends have moved on I do feel very out of the loop here. I can't be bothered to make new friends though, as awful as that sounds. I've made dozens in my time here and all have moved away. Even one of my neighbours (well behind me) has just packed up and moved, we moved in on the same week so she'd been here as long as me and it was nice to see a familiar face every day but there will be someone along soon to replace her, another new face to add to the sea of them already here!

So the dog met the new neighbour today, talking of neighbours, and he spent five whole minutes growling and barking at them :o. He never ever does this but any one that goes into that garden now gets associated (I suppose) in his mind with the old neighbour and her dog. He growls at anyone who goes in there. Poor thing, he got really quite agitated and upset. As the sun is heating up he's been spending time just laid at the end of the garden whilst i'm doing the housework so I expect he'll bump into them a fair few times now i've taken down the old fence! I think the new neighbours think he's vicious from all his barking and growling :o:rotfl: he's never hurt a fly! he won't even bark at the blooming cats that come and poop in our garden !

So I haven't done any cleaning today or decluttering, i've had an awful headache since yesterday and feel so stressed. I ended up nearly in tears at the playground this morning and my friend took me off to McDs for a cuppa which was nice. It was nice just to leave the estate to be honest and get a reality check that there is life outside of here! So I feel more refreshed now and cheered up :) but jobs are on the back burner. I've done the DW and WM (that's just finished so will hang out in a mo) and I will tidy up the kids toys in a second but think that will be about it!

My friend has just gone into a DMP and was asking me for advice the other day before entering into it. I tried to sort of give her MSE advice but I think she was set on the dmp in her mind. She could've cut back on things and been broke for a few months (been there done that could've helped with the whys, hows and suchlike) but I think she's just not very good with money. I guess we all have to find our own way. I expect she will take out more payday loans though before long :(. It made me feel thankful that that chapter in my life is done (permanently I hope) and that I have savings. Hopefully she will do the same, get rid of the debt and get herself an emergency fund :)

I've put the tv on and it is on some sort of ghost hunt thing, it's bright daylight here and i'm still too scared to watch :o what a wimp! On that note I think I will go hang the washing out

  • Afternoon all, going to drop ds1 off soon and pop into a£da on the way back! I've been craving chocolate for days and I'm giving in! Not a nsd anyway as ds2 climbed out of the garden over the fence and ordered himself an Ice-cream from the van  lil monster! I had to let him have it as the man was in the middle of making the twin, double scoop, sprinkles and syrup on top when I got there...he'd got £2 out of his wallet to pay for it himself lol. I bought one for ds1, dd and myself too!
I'll also give ds money for a cab later to get home. I'm quite worried about this but I have to keep reminding myself he's 17 this year and I should loosen the apron strings a little :o !!

    Morning DFW,

Poor you sounds like you've had an awful few days, hopefully you're feeling brighter now. Did DS1 enjoy the night out?

I did have to laugh at DS2 climbing over the fence to the ice cream van :rotfl:. Only because my DD2 did it last year and was actually sat on the kerb in her dressing gown tucking into an icecream when I caught her. It was only because she was poorly that I said no and she obviously thought she knew better... less than an hour later so was throwing it back up ... kids who'd have them ha!! xx

  • Sorry to hear things have been rough for you, hope the chocolate helped! I also hope DS1 had a great night and is feeling better too.

When we were staying in Wensleydale we went swimming in Catterick. As soon as we got near I just knew it was an army estate from the look of the houses and the 'feel' of the place. I think you wives are all just as brave as your men and it's no wonder it all gets too much sometimes. (Reading that back, I hope that doesn't sound patronising!).

I can sympathise with the ice cream incident! When we were at Lightwater Valley, DS2 helped himself to some pick and mix - with his fingers so there was no way it could be put back!! It was £4 for a tiny tub of pick and mix and I could have cried at the thought of having to fork out that. Luckily the guy in the shop just laughed and said he could have the bits he'd selected for free. DS2 still got very wrong though and I don't think he actually enjoyed eating his heist!!

Oh :( I am so sorry I haven't been around as an ear to bend!!

What an awful few days between MIL and then DH and his rubbish flight and super selfish nature. It is just men believe me, all the same. But I honestly do not know how you do it in terms of being an army wife. I threatened my best friend when I was 16 and he was 18 that if he went into the navy I would never ever speak to him again. He didn't. It was an escape route out of being homeless for him basically, and instead my mum got him a job which he excelled in, moved on from and now works for a world renowned company all over the country and earns about 3x the navy salary he could have got ;) every cloud.

Aways my point was, you are 20x the woman I could ever be for dealing with the kids on your own for so much, for moving around following him, for making friends only to have them sent to bl00dy Cyprus or Germany or wherever else anyone feels like making them all go, and leaving you alone.

My sister lives on RAF Cranwell and over the years has had friends come and go and come and go. She used to have a really busy social life and I envied it at first, but it was just a never-ending succession of different faces. Now, the one family she really got on well with who moved away a while back, came back again and her hubby has a permanent position based there so they are fast friends now :) but it is a very lonely estate really. shedloads of women and kids and men in uniform with big guns at either end of her village

I hope DS1 has a good evening; I am sure it was just girl related... but stress over exams etc is probably heightening it for him. I am sure he will snap out of it soon. In a couple of months it will all be over and he will be fine :)

You keep your chin up Mrs. And do what is best for you and the kids. S0d his lordship and the MIL from hell. You're the only one there all the time, how the hell would they know enough to have an opinion hmm? Whatever they say just isn't relevant. Like my dad complaining about rubbish goalkeepers. I always ask him if he thinks he could do better in the circumstances with split second timing ;) the answer is usually a load of fluff. :rotfl:

    Much love xxxx
