  • Morning!

Thanks so much lilt i'll look out for it :D

And I grew up in the country so we were always outside getting dirty and playing with mud, worms, frogs and whatever else we could find :rotfl: I do now feel sorry for my mum having to wash all the clothes though after having to do it myself!

Well yesterday I spent all morning and most of lunch helping my friend scrub her house. I confess though I gave up an hour before hand over, it was just too dirty, too many things needed doing and my friend's hubby spent more time shouting at her & smoking than helping  I did more than him and it wasn't my house so an hour before deadline I basically went home on the premise that I was collecting something for her and didn't go back until the last minute I was really quite cross with her DH and his attitude. Their house was a pigsty, no two ways about it and they didn't give enough time to get it all done. The long and short of it is they got charged nearly £2,000 on handover :eek::eek: Which makes me think if I am moving anytime before summer I should start getting my house back to how it needs to be as that sort of charge would bankrupt us :eek:!

So today, ds2 has a little party this afternoon, I knocked him up a knights outfit (FB friends can see my valiant effort on there ;) ) out of an old towel, some cardboard, felt and tin foil :rotfl: ....DD has a concert with her school choir, so she's gone in with packed lunch and her hair looking pretty and i'll pick her up at normal time and we have to be back to the concert hall at 6.30 pm for show number 2. DH has been delayed, his plane has only just landed, I am so glad I didn't tell the kids he'd be here this morning as they'd have been gutted to wake up to no daddy and me trying to explain about flight delays .

I was paid some tenancy money yesterday :j Not the full amount as they've obviously started on the list of jobs that need doing, but it was a surprise as I didn't think i'd get any this month :j I've left some in my bank as DH might need some to get petrol to drive to his game tomorrow, and the rest has gone over to the ISA. I got food shopping in yesterday which came to around £70 and i'm wondering if I can stretch it to next Tuesday (pay day)....if not I know I have a few quid spare in the bank now so that's good :T I've kept shtum about my tenancy money though as friend with the rather large bill of £2000 is begging around for money from people (she's just fallen out with her mum for this reason I think) and I feel obliged to offer to lend some if I know that she knows that i've got money (does this make sense :rotfl::rotfl:) So if I keep quiet about it I don't feel obliged.

My sister has offered to put my ds1 up for his first term at school in September (the new school) if we haven't found anywhere to live by then :T so it means we don't have to rush buying so much now which is good, i'm not fussed about moving the other two half way through a term (although ideally i'd like for them to start off a new school at the beginning of a term to make friends).

So basically this week is a flurry of Pre-Easter-School type things, trying not to spend lots of money & roll on PAYDAY!! :rotfl:

After searching the new format i have finally found you. I knew the army were strict at handover as friends just come out but £2000. She would have spent less surely getting in professional cleaners although i am sure your cleaning was a great help. Good news on tenancy money and the offer from your family to put your DS up for the first term :)

I totally agree which is why i've always said we're getting the cleaners in :rotfl: and my house isn't a total disaster

I've not spoken to my sister yet as she was going to check with her OH it would be ok first but i'm sure it will, and it's worst case scenario anyway if we haven't found somewhere.

So DH got home yesterday at midday and we went out for some lunch which was nice, we got some more tickets for the show DD was in too and he surprised the kids at pick up time :) DD was great in the show and she was sat right near the front so we had a good view of her :) However at 9pm getting home time both smaller children were grumpy and SO tired! So this morning both have blood shot eyes are tearful and not very happy! I've sent them to school in the hope they will pick up a bit but it wouldn't surprise me if I get a call saying they've fallen asleep in lessons :rotfl::rotfl: my kids are usually in bed ASLEEP by 7.30 latest :rotfl: it was just a bit too late for them lol

Today is just as busy as i've got my volunteering this morning (11am) and i need to take the dog out first. Then as soon as i'm finished with my lady there is an assembly at the school I need to be at and then it's pick up time and straight over to DS1 school for a talk (although ds1 doesn't have a clue what the talk is about and the letter was very ambiguous so that will be a nice surprise :wall: ). DH should be back by dinner time as he left this morning at 5am for his rugby game and he'll be gone again by tomorrow morning I think :(. Thankfully tomorrow is the kids last day as I am exhausted so they must be too :rotfl: Oh and tomorrow is an easter bonnet parade so am hoping the sun is shining like it is today for that!

Won't be a NSD as I will need to buy teas in with homestart family as she's bought them the last 3 times as I never bring my purse with me :o Not to get out of paying :rotfl: it's just that we usually go into the coffee shop on a spur of the moment thing on our walk but that's happened three times in a row so I will be prepared this time and I will buy them as I feel bad that's she's done it every time :( (even though she insists I "pay" her enough in company!)

SO busy few days and I am looking forward to my Easter break even though DH won't be here. :(:)

I hope the sun is shining where you all are it certainly is here which makes a nice change from the cold weather we've had recently :)

  • Glad you managed some quality time with DH and he got to see DD in the show.

I'm so jealous that your lot break up tomorrow - mine don't finish until next Thursday. I'm really looking forward to them being off, especially after the issues I've had with DS1. Enjoy Xx

I've been following your progress, I admit to skipping some of all three threads (insert embarrassed smiley). You've done amazingly well to turn everything around and save so much in quite a short space of time - although it probably doesn't feel like it.

I too was gobsmackled at the £2000. A relative of mine died at home and we had to get the real pro-cleaners/fumigators in before we could hand the flat back to the Housing assoc. that cost £900, so the Army are onto a bloomin' good thing!

Please keep posting and good luck with the house buying/job-hunting. A former neighbour of ours is ex-army and when he left he and his wife bought a cleaning co. Franchise specialising in post tenancy cleaning (may be a bit close to home for you!!!) but what I'm trying, badly, to say is they are doing really well in three years and have just taken on more staff. Not that your hubby would want to do this and it costs but I am sure he will find something good. Stop press - just thinking back to my relative, perhaps opening a cleaning franchise and advertising to army or RAF personnel might be interesting, there's an airbase in Lincs. Isn't there? BritMil Fit? Personal trainer- bootcamps etc. Just rambling now!!!

Think £2000 is a bit excessive unless the place was beyond repair xx

I remember getting charged twice in the many moves that I did whilst married to the ex but on both occasions we weren't moving into a forces house which I argued with them about as I felt we were being penalised for not moving into their quarters xx

I bet yours go back a week later though so next term will be shorter for you?? AT least I hope so for your sake! Everyone needs a holiday from school routine every now and then :) I was so pleased DH got back on yesterday in particular as DD was chuffed to have her daddy there watching :A

Hi Greenone! I can't believe you've even read most of the threads! Thank you for coming out of lurkdom to say hello :D The army certainly are on to a good thing so the spiel they give you about giving you cheap rent they get back really at the end of the tenancy if you don't keep the house immaculate for them :eek: shocking really i'm pretty scared to leave mine now :rotfl:

As for jobs....DH's got a few friends who've gone down the PT and bootcamp route so it's something he's thought about, they can sell themselves pretty well from the careers they've had here and never seem to be short of business :) I am open to any sort of work when I move, i'm not fussy nor a work snob and have done all sorts of jobs in my time. I like to call myself a Jill of all trades :rotfl: And yes lincs is RAF mainly the village I grew up in was a couple of miles away from where they kept the lancaster bomber & red arrows for many years I loved watching them in the sky :)

£2k had me nearly dropping from a heart attack from shock. I cannot imagine how my friend felt. We'd painted the entire house between us from top to bottom. I'm no Constable or Michaelangelo but I'm not totally useless with a paint brush either and they basically said to her they couldn't accept it as it wasn't to a professional standard. I've heard of this [STRIKE]witch[/STRIKE] woman being harsh round here but never personally knew anyone to cross her path until now and now I realise all the other stories i've heard must actually be true!!! I guess I may have to factor in a painter & decorator as well as a cleaner :eek::eek:

  • Evening! So busy day, spent all of it out until around 3.40 pm when dd came home for 5 mins with me to get changed before we went out again. HS lady bought the teas whilst I was in the toilet and refused to take any money :(:) I was quite relieved after as I am pretty broke till pay day but I feel very guilty i've told her I get expenses and that's what they're there for but she insisted I put it in my petrol tank instead (in fact it went to the isa the other day lol) ...DS1's gcse meeting we thought was 30 mins, turns out it was 90 mins and I had DS2 & DD with me and they were BORED!!!!! The 4 small penguin type bars did nothing but fuel them with sugar (school boy error on my part! Mental note to pick up Oranges or apples next time in a hurry!!) and when the lady asked if there were any questions DS2 put his hand up :wall: he wanted to tell her that boxes are made from cardboard :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: oh sheesh!! That was a loooooooooooong afternoon I can tell you! So after that it was 6.30 ish and kids were starving- apparently. So we got a chippy on the way home - so the money I saved on tea and a slice of cake in the cafe I spent anyway :rotfl:

DS1 is super stressed by everything, there were lots of kids there just so blas! about everything and so unbothered by their looming GCSEs that I did feel quite proud of ds1 in the fact that he is bothered (probably because both schools he wants to go to expect A-C in nearly everything) and he is doing all his coursework, revision & going to revision sessions. I can't wait until it's all over though as he's so tetchy about everything at the moment! And as he's a boy he won't talk about how he's feeling, of course!

Got my landlord statements today from letting agency, money reduced from the tenancy money wasn't for a job it was for the annual boiler inspection  so they can't have yet started on any of the jobs yet??

DH left at 5am for his rugby match which they won, and he's not yet left there yet to come home so kids will be well asleep when he does turn up and then he may have left before they get up again tomorrow :( then he won't be home until 26th April. Army life sucks sometimes!

Right need to tuck the kids in now, they've only just finished their dinners and chilled out bless them they're exhausted! DS2's teacher called me in this afternoon to tell me DS2 had fallen off several things in p.e and hurt himself and that he wasn't quite right :rotfl: he's clumsy but not that bad usually. I can't believe one late night can do that to him.....so this is late night number 2 what will he be like tomorrow I wonder!!

  • DH got home around 9pm, he'd been drinking after the game and so wanted to carry on out in town with his friends, I told him to do whatever he wanted to do so off he went out. I hate it when he's had a drink and would rather not be around him anyway but I was pretty upset that the money i'd given him for petrol (one of his friends drove to the match ) he then went and spent on alcohol. He crawled in at 2.30 and woke me up and then slept through his alarm which woke me up three times. I'm really not happy I think he's acted really selfishly and childishly :( He had one evening left to spend with me and he chose his friends and a pub. It's upset me a lot. Anyway he left at 4.30 am this morning after I woke him several times. I am exhausted today now. He's also told me he plans on cashing a cheque for several hundred dollars over there so he can go visit some family (he needs to get on a plane) I understand it's his money but I am at the end of my tether with his selfishness. We've got £20 left to last until pay day and he wastes that in a couple of hours in a pub. If I don't buy a house this year I will be moving one way or the other I will be renting instead. I've had enough of being here waiting for him all the time. And after waiting he chooses to be with someone else. I could cry right now :(

I've had the kids easter bonnet competition this morning that made me annoyed too as most of the kids' parents had made the hats not the children themselves. The ones that won clearly weren't made by the children. All the kids that had made their own looked devastated as they'd spent hours sticking things on (my kids included) I think to make it fair they should make the hats in school time and all do it themselves. Perhaps it's just me being in a grump though :(

So this afternoon i'm in doing nothing now until the school run. Then it's the madness of swimming day and rushing to get there. Humph, i'm in such a grump. No sleep didn't help at all either!
