  • Sorted out two bills now for ID :T:T Just need DH to print them off but if he can't i've saved them to my computer and will just email them to the mortgage broker who can print them off at his end if need be (thankfully we know him and he's kind enough to do this for us!).

I've got a banging headache and i'm not sure if it's hormones or stress. Or both? Have taken a couple of paracetomol and hope it will go soon! I popped into town with a friend and treated myself to a gr3ggs (bout £3 :money:) and picked up an @rgos catalogue whilst there so I can start totting up how much we will need to save for wardrobes etc as everything is fitted here in the army housing and nothing will be in the new house  I also need a cooker as that's not ours here. Might be helpful to make this list now I think so I can start looking around for cheap and cheerful to tide us over until we can afford better :) .

Not got many jobs done have literally been trying to sort out bills and eating and drinking tea :o Oops. I'm off to meditate now as well so nothing will get done then either :rotfl: ah well. Thankfully the mortgage broker is a man so he shouldn't be too fussed about the state of the house :rotfl:

Bless your dad, what a hero :D

There is no oven in the new house then? Could you maybe get some of those metal clothes rails until you are able to get wardrobes at the new place? They are about £10 online and you can sell them on afterwards..

I hope the meeting with the mortgage broker went well!! :) xx

  • Good Morning!

DH has gone for 3 weeks now then back for 3 days (in which time we might not see him) then away for another 3 and half weeks. SO we might not see him until end of April now.

Had major hiccups with the house again. The mortgage offer was dropped again :( By £8,000 this time (so in all we need close to 10k extra) . Absoutely gutted, and I had a bit of a melt down over it all especially as time was ticking to get it sorted for when DH goes away. Mortgage broker called to say another company was looking good to take us on for the same amount as our original offer so we went with that and popped to the library and printed off the mortgage application (dh needed to sign everything before he went) we heard back later that day that it was all off :( and so we only had the original mortgage company to decide on. This people is what happens when you trash your credit file! ! ! ! So I had another melt down over and envisaged my life in army barracks forever more and cried for nearly 3 hours. Then I decided to give my dad a call and beg for money. On the premise that it is paid back I must add.... He said he could get half the amount needed together in 4-6 weeks (£4k) so we were half way there with nowhere else to turn. DH called every member of his family and managed to borrow another £1,000. So we're now £3-5,000 short (depending on how much solicitors cost us). We've decided to go with it and that if worst comes to worst we will put it on the credit card. I know this is a cardinal sin on this site but the house is excellent value and I also value my sanity. We looked at options of pulling out and buying something we can afford comfortably but it basically meant half the house in an awful area and it made me cry again!!! (it is wrong time of month too i'd like to add I don't think i'm usually this tearful?) So yes we're going with it. One saving grace is that DH is away for the seven weeks. He will be paid extra for that time which should equate to around £1,000 after tax. That's a small way to where we need to be. I can empty out accounts with emergency funds and rental funds (I will have to leave the car fund for insurance) but that is nearly £1,000 again so it's doable and I'm hoping it will all be worth it when we have space to finally swing a cat (I'm against animal abuse but you see my point) and the kids have their own space too. It might mean i'm joining you all again for a short while as I will be paying back family members asap for their generosity as i'd hate to think they are going without to help me. (I don't think they are as I wouldn't have accepted it otherwise but you get my drift).

SO i've had an emotional rollercoaster of a week really and it's not over with yet I doubt. We've already said to the mortgage broker though that if anything else crops up we will have to walk away we've had to find nearly 10k extra in one week. I've now made myself sick on top of the stress because of how emotional and crazy I was getting myself (sore throat, exhaustion, aching)! But there is good news, everything is signed I have all the ID printed off and ready to go and hopefully our part (aside from handing over money) should be done for now. Mortgage broker is coming over on Monday evening for everything we've gathered together and signed and I expect to hear no more bad news. It may just finish me off otherwise

I am due another policy in August/September time like last years. Now last year's one was just short of £5k so if we get similar again we can immediately pay back my dad and DH's brother. Then we will just have the CC to get rid of. That money was always there for my DS1 as I took out the policy when he was a child. I feel awful now for taking it for the house but at the same time he doesn't know about it and he will be getting the biggest room in the house, i've spent tens of £1,000s on privately schooling him which the other two won't get and he wants for nothing...........ok I still feel bad. In fact I feel even worse for putting all that as that was my choice not his. The money was always going to be for his first car & driving lessons. Perhaps DH and I can still find a way to do this for him though albeit it won't be a lump sum  Gosh I like to over think everything don't I.

Anyway I hope EVERYONE has had a better week than me with my ups and downs! Mine has truly been the worst week this year so far and i'm hoping that's it for me now......and the kids have already been asking "when is dad back...." this is going to be a long month or two isn't it :eek:

There is actually an oven! we're unsure if it works and it was basically so crusted up we couldn't even open it  after our new revelations which i've just posted about DH and I have decided to pay a professional oven cleaner to do it (My asthma means it's dh's job usually and let's face it he doesn't do the best job...) and I hope it'll be worth the money! We were just going to get a bog standard cheap one but I think it might be better if we go with what's there ....only cleaner. There's no cupboards in bedrooms at all which is probably why they all looked so big now I come to think of it :rotfl: And yes I also had the thought of rails or those canvass type wardrobes for now as my friend is having same issue after leaving army housing too and has bought 2 of them and they look big enough and sturdy enough for the kids :). I also wanted new carpets because of my allergies but we've (I actually :o ) decided again to get professional carpet cleaners in to remove all traces of the pet hair. To be fair it wasn't filthy but I could smell a dog had been in there and was itching and scratching all the way round (as I did in every house actually :o:o ) The dust didn't help as I have allergies to that too :rotfl:. But anyway where there is a will there is a way!

Do I remember rightly that you know the area where i'm moving too? If you want i'll send you a link to the house that we are still, all being well, buying!

  • So in a bid to save as many pennies as we can I've decided we're going on a bit of an MSE diet. No treats, no days out for the foreseeable unless it's with passes we already own or less than a tenner! Basic food now that DH isn't here (he's the one who constantly complains about eating the same thing every night...I actually think the kids will love beans on toast and omelettes ;) ) I've already paid for the swimming lessons now so they will continue and i've promised DD i'd go see her in a concert so that's £14 for tickets (unless I can get DS2 to sit on my lap then it will be £7 :money: ) No more toiletries unless everything is used up and eating from the cupboards & freezers before shopping....Everything else is pretty much cut back anyway it is just food, kids clubs and petrol that are my biggest outgoings! So let the savings commence I guess and even if the house doesn't go through my savings will have been bolstered somewhat ;):rotfl:

  • Sorry to hear your latest news and the emotional upset it has caused. Sounds like you have a plan now though and are geared up for the 'fight'. Fingers crossed it all goes well for you from here on in.

Maybe you could enter competitions to win things for the new house?! Xx

  • Thanks Lucky! If only the timing had all been a bit better I don't think I would have felt under such pressure

I think I might have a chest infection OR my new inhalers aren't doing their job very well. I've been wheezy for days now and my chest is hurting when I breathe. Think I best try and get to drs tomorrow to see what's wrong.

Had a busy day today which I could have done without but hey ho the jobs had to be done at some point and hopefully I can have an easy-ish week! Did the food shop, pet food shop as dog only had a few biscuits left. Took DS1 to rugby match (which he won :T) and walked the dog up and down the pitch at the same time so didn't need to walk him after :rotfl:. Food shop was £72.84 :T:T budget was £120 but as we're pulling strings I thought that could be beaten and I was right :T. I'll wait until the end of the month to do any big transfers but i've just put £40 odd pound over to the ISA which was the rest of the food budget I didn't use. I've got £20 in cash (the lady whose kids I look after dropped it round to me with a bunch of tulips :) she's lovely!) so that will cover any extra fruit or veg we might need and also the kids clubs tomorrow and Tuesday.

Tax credits have still to go in for the month which i'm hoping I can transfer straight to house fund as well as child benefits. I know we have a huge amount to find but i'm determined!

Signature has been amended with new amounts to find. SO I need another £1400 for the deposit. And around £2000 for stamp duty, mortgage advisor fees, solicitors etc. DH's brother in law has said they can lend up to £1000 if we need it so i'll keep them in mind before using the CC. So £3400 to go............... Game on!
