  • Haha Abba that's what i'm worried about :p Although the money I thought I was due this month actually comes in August so that could help pay for it if he gets the grades ;)

Well yesterday evening we had some good news, we have been agreed a mortgage in principle. The bad news was it was around £10k under what we were hoping for which means there isn't an awful lot available to us in the price range we can afford. Not a total disaster but I feel quite down looking at what we can afford and when the time comes on to sell it if we buy in one of the areas we can afford will we ever be able to sell it on  worth thinking about as obviously I've had my house in Wales on the market so many times and it's never sold it worries me i'll make the same mistake again. If we rent then we will basically be paying out more money than we would paying a mortgage (can you believe that! And our mortgage rate is not excellent either because of our credit history). I'm really feeling torn as to what to do at the moment?! DH has told me we can move further out of the city than I was planning which is fine, but the house he looked at online last night was 50 miles away  bearing in mind DS1 is going for school places just south of the city so we need to be near by. He really infuriated me and told me it was tough basically and we'd have to take what we can get. If he expects me to be chauffeur to three kids in 3 different schools for the next couple of years as well as get a full time job and run the house (he won't be there as he's working away all week) then he can think again. Anyway, I wont throw the towel in just yet, I will go up for ds1's interview on Monday and see if I can get round some estate agents and leave my details. The mortgage broker basically said we are good to go, which scares me in itself! So for now I will try and look at the positives...we have been offered the mortgage :D something we thought would be impossible for the next couple of years!

Anyway onto daily matters, I don't intend on doing much today, so hoping for another NSD. I was invited to a party later with the kids so I might go, really not bothered though so won't tell the kids until I've decided ;) it's HS's AGM which is at a soft play so the kids will like it but I hate them they are so noisy they drive me nuts :p but might be a nice free treat anyway !

I hope everyone is well? I suppose I ought to go and do something now anyway............

Evening friends, I hope you've all had a good weekend. I had a NSD yesterday but today I filled up the petrol (ready for tomorrow) and DH went shopping for food for the week. He spent too much but that's because he bought for 7 days rather than the 5 I told him too :wall: so never mind it will even out hopefully :) I'm looking forward to tomorrow, I will get to see my sister whom I've not seen for around 18 months! We missed each other last summer when we both visited mum on different weeks :( I expect my eldest nephew is nearly taller than me now! The lady that I help out (I have her kids each morning and afternoon) has dropped round a lovely pot of daffodils and a bottle of wine today :T that was very nice and unexpected too! Think I may save the wine for my birthday next week! So next Friday is payday and before then I am due child benefit (tomorrow) which i'm hoping will get me through the next week without dipping into any funds. I was over on Steph's thread and she was talking about giving up kids' swimming lessons and i''ve been debating the same thing as their term times are different to school terms and i'm worried about 1- me paying and them not actually using the lessons as we will have moved (and no refunds) and 2-the money which will be needed elsewhere very soon for solicitors fees etc. However, I checked my ynab and I actually already had enough for the next term in there :T after checking term dates i'm certain we'll be around for the next one but not the one after that. So this month onwards the money will be directed elsewhere I think, either to top up other budgets or savings. Another dilemma- DH is going away next month and needs £200-300 for the seven weeks he's not here. I don't have any spare money at all from my budget if I get no tenancy money for the next couple of months whilst all the work on the house is being done so I think I will have to direct the swimming budget to him for march and april (not too impressed but he will get £15 a day extra for every day he's not here so I should be able to pay a lump sum to savings after he's back). Budget aside from these things is looking ok, there is no extra to be paying into savings though which is needed so we can afford solicitors fees etc without using credit cards (last resort) Hmmmmmmmmmmmm not sure if it's my computer or this site? But my post has half been deleted and all the gaps taken out and i'm having trouble now rectifying it (urgh) so will have to leave it as it is! Also having trouble getting smileys to work....anyone know how to get them to work for me?

  • Super busy day yesterday, lots of driving and sitting around but upside was I got to see my sister & nephews :T DH and I have booked in some house viewings on Friday so we are taking the kids out of school for the day and will travel up and squeeze in as many as we can. It'll be the first time the smaller ones have been up there since they were babies so they won't remember any of it. We're going to leave ds1 here on his own so he can get himself to school and back again and we will hopefully be home in time for dinner (take away night as it's pay day and my birthday!!) not looking forward to another massive long trip in one week but it's gotta be done at some point and DH goes away very soon so we'd like to get the ball rolling :) If nothing is suitable we'll hold off viewings until he's back in a couple of months.

DS1 got his place at the school yesterday so if he gets the grades he needs he will have a pick of schools if not we know he has one firm offer so i'm happy as both schools are good :) The interviewer said I should be very proud of him as he's such a lovely young man :) made me super happy until this afternoon when he came back from school in his usual (un)happy stroppy teenage self. Back to normal for me then!

£2 spends today on youth club. Only £10 spends yesterday as my sister paid for our lunch and parking but I gave her a tenner back as she doesn't have very much. Hoping for a nsd tomorrow and Thursday and Friday will be a new month :D

Best go as kids are due back now! x

  • We've now got 5 viewings for Friday, every single house is over budget (from £3k to £12 over budget  ) it's near on impossible to find anything at our budget with our credit rating. I'm determined to find a nice house and get it within our budget though, so watch this space ;) Our mortgage advisor has offered to put together something with our offer stating nearby sold house prices and why they should accept our lower offer so here's hoping that works lol.

I've been paid tenancy money and it's been moved straight to my savings we're around £345 away from £13k which will mean we have 20% deposit together when we reach that.

Nsd again. Tomorrow will be the same. It has to be as I've just cleaned the account out and moved it to the savings :rotfl: I've got a few quid in my purse for emergencies with food etc but I don't think we'll need it :)

DH has been home all week so I've not had time to catch up with everyone on here yet. I hope everyone is ok :)

  • How exciting!!! My friend has just had an offer accepted on a property. A slightly cheeky one..! So I am sure you can find something within budget. The estate agents seem to whack a contingency amount on top of what the place is worth. Don't ask, don't get... :D

Mine has been the spendiest SD ever. :( £54 spent... and lentils and spices and a mothers day gift to myself to show for it

    Hugs! xx
