  • Hey DFW!!

Loving the difference in sigs considering the overspend (totally worth it!) - You will make the money back in no time at all :D I have faith!

Grumpy teenagers... my nephew is one of those. I am surprised you managed to get yours out of the house. Mine (the one who took my bike) is permanently ensconced in his room on his gaming laptop/xbox. And his xmas present/savings are going towards an £800 gaming PC.. - I ought to start a 'teenage presents' fund now, to be able to keep up with this level of spending...

Sorry to hear DH is being a pain. I accidentally told Jellytot that daddy was a T*t earlier today. Feel very bad for that. But he was a t*t on the phone.. :o lol I suppose I am lucky he is teetotal but at the same time when I have a drink (usually 1 glass of cider once every few months!) he looks at me like a recovering alcoholic who has just had a bottle of vodka

Lots of love :D hope you're having a fab Sunday!
My DS1 is exactly the same re choosing the worst time to try to talk to me. He usually decides he needs to tell me a days worth of conversation the minute I tell him it's time for bed!

    Hi DFw, :hello:

    Just catching up..
Busy busy busy in your household, as usual. :)

Teenage boys are a law unto themselves:
One of mine spent three years in bed (he was perfectly agreeable and helpful whenever summoned, but always returned to his default position; prone, usually reading comics or drawing cartoons).
Two went through a 'mucky' stage; refusing to wash properly or change his underwear as often as he should. Solved that by sending him on holiday to a mate who had two teenage girls - a week later she complained he was spending so much time in the shower that she had to ask for an extra contribution to her utility bills! :rotfl:
Three teased Four unmercifully - until I lost it; dragged him by the collar to One and Two, and said the only way he'd learn was by being on the receiving end! All three of 'em were so shocked by what I was suggesting [as was I when I saw their expressions!] that the older two took Three off for a brotherly chat, which did result in him being much more mindful of his behaviour thereafter.
Four was an angel; can't remember any hassle from him at all.

    They're all different, aren't they? :cool2:

I'm so glad it's not just my ds that is so moody, uncommunicative and generally horrible to me :(!! I wonder sometimes what I did wrong to make him hate me so much (or act like he does anyway!). He insists on going to bed after us, does his homework alongside texting/messaging/watching a film and playing a game.........that is ALL of those at once. NOT just one distraction  he drives me insane!!! However his argument so far has been valid that it hasn't affected his grades so I guess I can't do much about it (grr!)

  • Aha we cross posted!!

I have done 2 loads of washing, but there isn't a breath of wind so it is just... hanging there. Sheets which always take so much room. At least it isn't towels or I would have to relent and put the heating on to do it. I've also done all of Jellytots ironing *fingers in ears about my own* so am feeling positively angelic! About to go and batch cook a few meals too :D :A

I managed to get it all dry -last load was hung all over the house overnight and thankfully was mostly dry this morning aside from pesky towels!

No washing today as rain has been threatening and it was so damp early from the fog that I decided to give it a miss! Will do the last load tomorrow (which by then will not be the last load :rotfl: it really is never ending!)

  • Afternoon all, I've spent the morning re-potting plants in the house. I did loads at the beginning of August and wasn't too happy with the results! There were flies all over the tops of them where the drainage wasn't very good. Thankfully none of the plants were dead so I have re-potted and split plants where I could :) I got 7 aloe veras from the parent plant (which is actually an offshoot from my mum's plant!) and I got 5 peace lilies from one pot :T I ran out of pots though so I could have actually got 8 peace lilies in all :T:D If they do well in their new pots I might be giving a few away for xmas :rotfl: However, currently they are all spread around, one in each bedroom, some in the front room & kitchen and my house is starting to now resemble a green house :o:p

Payday tomorrow and I did do my budget but I now need to have another look at it because DH has just this morning told me he needs £200 for his trip away this month  I wouldn't be quite so angry if he'd told me as soon as he found out so I could juggle savings etc but nope he decided to tell me now. Oh well, not much I can do now but go and see what i can cut so he can have it all tomorrow :wall:

Also painted up an old (and ready for the skip!) table it now looks lovely and I feel awful for nearly throwing it out :o:rotfl: It was the left over paint from doing the dresser/table/chairs and I still have paint left in the tin! It goes so far I will definitely be buying that brand again over h0mebase's own (which was rubbish and chipped on furniture) :T

Oooooh I've just glanced up and seen an old Money plant and now wondering if I can split that too......hmmm.....! Anyway best go just about to watch Downton catch up before school run :)

  • Ooh if you split the money tree, definitely give the babies away! My daddy has a huge one, and gave me one once. It worked!

Nice on the paint job on the furniture. I really need to do a couple of ikea wooden chests I have. There's nail varnish and crayolas and allsorts on the lids. Begging for a paint up, shabby chic! Was it a popular brand you bought? I've seen certain chalk paint brands sworn by!

School runs (nursery) were manic for me at 9am and pick up at 12. It was gonig to be a relief that tomorrow she is there 9-3 but then I found out I have the dentist at 12 and an Osteo appt at 6 :(

    Hope you got Downton watched!

  • Whew, I'm exhausted just reading all you've been up to.

:( to DH not telling you in advance about impending trip costs!

Money tree - I grew up hearing my Dad forever saying "money doesn't grow on trees you know". Therefore, I couldn't resist buying 'something' when I saw it and sent it to him.

'Something' was a flat polished stone with a number of little pebbles 'stood' up on the base with googly eyes and a twisted wire tree in the middle. The tree had coins of different currencies threaded hanging down from the wire branches. Carved into the base stone was 'Who says money doesn't grow on trees?"

    Take care.

My money tree was from my mum it's been sat on my book case for a couple of years now because she'd put a spider plant in with it and they hang down so to show it off I put it up there....and then promptly forgot about it :rotfl: I got it down this morning and took some leaves from the money plant that had fallen and have put them in other pots as I know they are super easy to grow from the leaves as they make their own roots....the actual plant itself looks to have 4 different bases but i'm not sure how to split them as they're all close together and i'd hate to kill it off :undecided Have also taken baby spider plants and potted them with other plants to see if they grow :T

The paint was @nnie $loan. I swear by it after using 3 different "own" brands from shops and having no where near the same results! My tin which I believe it a 1L size (??) has done 2 coats on 1 dresser, 1 table, 6 chairs and a table (side of the sofa size table). AND I still have a bit left :T Am thinking of painting the bathroom cupboard I have with it mixed with a touch of some other left over paint as not sure there is enough to do two coats of it. The colour I used was country grey. I've posted pics on fb but having trouble getting them on here again after forgetting my password to photo bucket :o:o.

Oh gosh your day sounded busy yesterday...I hope you got it all done (will pop to yours and everyone's diarys in a bit :) )

That is "standard" DH I can tell you now! I was mad but thought oh well, I will save probably £100 on food whilst he's not here :rotfl: I've transferred the money to him already as he leaves tomorrow!!!
Apparently he told me last week and yesterday. I didn't hear him  so was rather shocked this morning when I heard him telling the kids that Daddy was off to Canada tomorrow :eek: :o

:rotfl: hahaha!! to the money tree story my mother/father/nan/every person in my family!!! used that saying :rotfl::rotfl: They used to say.....do you see a money tree in my garden??? Is it invisible cos I sure don't see it??? money doesn't just grow on trees ya know :rotfl: Whatever! ;) Grow up with that state of mind and you'll always be poor is my opinion :D

  • My response as a kid was... I am looking at trees that make paper, so hand over a 5er instead of the £1 I was asking for, since they DO grow on trees ;)

And you're right, sometimes it is all about state of mind. The more I focus my mind to making money of affording something, the easier it becomes. :D

It was a busy day and now I feel utterly sh!te thanks to the flu jab so have to go to the dentist feeling like death. Deep joy.

Have a lovely afternoon and thanks for the paint tip!! It sounds lovely, the grey!! :D

  • Right well this morning i've cleaned the kitchen and window sills and pit up tonnes of fly paper. I don't agree with killing any animal/bug/etc but they were destroying my plants and probably laying eggs all over my window sill so had to put up the paper. Already caught around 20  they are just those teeny tiny flies that go on plants (not sure what their specific name is) but they were really bugging me I was forever cleaning them!

*Mmmmmmmmmmm* just sat here typing and got a whiff of my oil burner *Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm* smells good enough to eat :D

Anyway. Split the plants as I said in previous post and hopefully they will grow. If they do I will move again and put in their own pots. For now they are in pots with other baby plants (that I did yesterday).

I've also sanded down and varnished my kitchen table again. It was fine but I'd used a different varnish on the table to the chairs and I think I am being slightly OCD about it :o but the chairs had a sheen to them and the table was matt, so quick sand down and re-varnished and will do one more coat later. It should make it easy to clean anyway as it's more silky than the last one :).

Pay day today.....Whoa what's going on with me? It took me a few paragraphs to mention that :rotfl::rotfl:
I should be shopping but again i'm floored with unexplainable exhaustion :(. I called the dr's for blood test results and the receptionist said they are the same as last time....so borderline anaemia but nothing else  I'm confused as to why I am so tired all the time! It's not just normal tiredness it is pure exhaustion. I was in bed by 7pm last night, would have been earlier had my kids gone to bed earlier :rotfl: And I slept through solidly until 6.30 when DHs alarm went off! It does come and go but this particular "bout" (for want of a better word) has lasted for weeks now :( Everything aches, my throat is sore, glands are up and my body starts jerking with tiredness ...it's like when I was newly pregnant. That absolute exhausted state you are in for the first 3 months (if you are unlucky like me anyway...). Nothing i can do though I don't think. I eat pretty healthily I get exercise (albeit only walking and cycling) and I sleep well. I tried adding in more exercise thinking it would help and that made me so ill for days afterwards I felt dizzy & sick as well as exhausted!

Anyway I don't want to moan, I have lots of positives in my life too ....Number 1 being that I don't have to work a full time job. thank god hey, could you even imagine that with how I am feeling :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

So today I have to put some washing away. HAVE to. Not entirely sure where it all comes from but i have 4 LARGE washing baskets FULL of clean washing begging to be put away :o OOPS! Luckily DH had been doing washing with me whilst I was sort of out of action but he never ever ever puts it away. EVER. Never. Fact. He told me in fact, once, that we should just designate a corner of our room to pile it all and when we want something we can just go look for it there . Seriously! No wonder though as when I used to stay over at his mums house, way back when we were young lovers ;) his mother used to do the same! One chair in their front room was always covered in clean washing! Madness!

I also need to find some food for dinner. We have lots in but it is all odds & sods & nothing that will make a dinner. UNLESS of course I subject them to pasta, passata, ,herbs & chickpeas. I think they would rather have their hair pulled out and be tortured :o hmmm. I may get a take away as DH won't be here for the next few weeks.

I bought Odeon tickets to use this weekend thinking he was here but he won't be so one will go to waste. What a shame! I wonder when the expiry date is  Hopefully it's not soon and we can use them another time :) I think I will take kids anyway.

The open day we were going to with ds1 has been changed to a weekend we can't do in November :( so we actually will have to apply to all 3 schools/colleges now without seeing any!!! Arghh!

the photoshoot i'd booked in for which was £120 has been reduced to £85 :T:T She messaged me telling me she'd had an overwhelming response so could lower the price as she'd had to pay for props etc but has spread it evenly over all the people who had booked :T I like good news like that :D

Right need to make another tea, i've run out ;) I'll be back I need to catch up with some of you and this morning is the last morning of the week that is all mine to myself :A
