Hope you had a lovely honeymoon! We've had mixed weather to be honest, lots of thunder & lightening and rain storms but they mainly seem to be coming later on in the evening/night so still ok during the day :T

  • Evening all!

DH & I have spent the day putting up a new fence. The neighbours in one final (??? I hope) bid to upset the peace took theirs down and they are no where near going yet. The bamboo that we had up was literally pulled down by them as they took theirs down even though we had ensured we hadn't attached ours to theirs, what they didn't pull down their dog tried to eat or knock over. Ho hum. I'm not going to get into an argument over it. I took ours down this morning and the bamboo was ok still thankfully, if slightly battered, so we laid it on the grass ready to repair later on. Neighbours decided this was an act of spite on our behalf I think and threw the dog out to jump all over the small fence left and basically bug us and our dog (dogs hate each other). So anyway we went and spent around £150 on fence posts, some trellis to attach to the pots and act as a stand for the bamboo and cable ties & nails & cement. Lots of money but the bamboo that we could have just repaired would have been knocked down in a strong wind. Their dog jumping on it this morning proved that to us  it was knocking our bird feeder & all the plant pots next to the bamboo over. Did they tell it off? Of course not so we just got on and did fixed the fence. I was shot some mighty b1tchy looks and smirks when we took our fence down :rotfl: she obviously thought we were leaving it like that so she stood on her doorway with hands on hips giving me dirty looks. Funny really :rotfl: I did have a little giggle when I got inside (can you imagine if I had done it to her face :p ) SO lots of money spent, a whole day wasted really and the fence on our side looks no different to before  however it will now last the winter and the cold and the wind! (AND we are leaving next year so only one winter to get it through! :j)

There was £100 for the household budget & £25 for the garden. I spent all of that and then some on it so have had to jiggle the budgets slightly to include it all in.

My gas and electricity supplier have changed over :T I tried to get my refund back from EDF as I am £150 in credit. I can't get to it until the new company send some sort of thing to say it's all been done to them (??? I got confused with just what they are waiting for?! ) So I will wait until next week and then call them again for it. The money was earmarked for the ISA but we've just spent exactly that on sorting the fence out so not sure whether we can get through the summer without it :(

MIL is coming over tomorrow until I don't know when  She just sort of suggested that she come till she fancied going home  This could be fun hey!

I went to see my mother at the weekend and my sister. Spent £20 in Iceland on their food as it's the only shop near by to their house. I was nearly ill with the food purchased :( truly disgusting! Thinking of writing an email complaining but what good would it do!?! I really can't believe people eat that and think of it as food (it was their chinese ready meals & pizzas for the kids.) Mum has a teeny kitchen and trying to cook for 8 is a nightmare as there is only 1 work surface to do everything on so I opted for ready meals which we never eat...can see why now! I was so stressed when I left her house from trying to cook it, feed everyone (I always get lumbered with the cooking when I go there :( ) and my sisters & my kids running amok that I slept until 12pm the next day when I finally got home! We also didn't leave till midnight so that probably helped my tiredness :rotfl: DH & DS1 had gone a few roads down to help his brother move so I had the two smaller kids to look after. Stress, stress, stress. I won't be visiting for a while yet I can tell you.

So summer wise we haven't done a lot yet.....I want to fit in a couple of day trips to London as ds2 is obsessed with dinosaurs atm so I thought the natural history would be a great choice! Also wanted to go to Olympic park & take the kids to the palace so I will try and do these things before DH goes back to work but his mother has booked this week and next week his sister is staying in a caravan near the beach (near us) and we are meeting up with her a lot and then I think DH is going back to work shortly after. I feel a little ----> at doing the trips to London myself with the kids! :rotfl:

So tomorrow we have a library trip planned to get the reading challenge out of the way (shhh don't tell the kids I said that, I make it sound like the most exciting thing ever to them :rotfl:) and I was thinking about a trip to the nature reserve. Both are free and within 5 miles of us and the kids got some great books for their birthdays with all the types of trees/birds/bugs/flowers etc and I thought it might be fun to go tick some off :)

Right well I think i've off loaded enough for now, I feel better for it :D I will try and get on more often but ds1 hogs the laptop all day long and my phone charger is not working very well so I don't go on the internet very much with it. I only managed to get on here now because dh & DS1 have gone to rugby training so I nabbed it quickly!

Hope everyone is well :) tata for now :D
  • Afternoon!

The car is in for the service & MOT I've uncrossed fingers, arms and eyes to type on here and then I'll resume service until we hear back from the garage :rotfl:. I know the exhaust is hanging off (literally) one light on the front has gone and keeps breaking so we know it's not just a blown bulb. On the way to the garage this morning my warning light flashed up that a brake light had also gone  and there is some funny squeaking noise (could just be age though ) tyres may also need replacing, so we will see.......I'm praying it won't have too many expensive things wrong with it as we only want the darned thing for another year and then plan on using DH's bonus next year to upgrade!

DD spent her birthday money this morning on another pair of sparkly shoes from am@zon, she's turning into a little TOWIE person :eek::eek: quick move us out of Essex!!! DS2 didn't want anything from the toy shop and wants to spend it all on icecream

We went to the nature reserve yesterday once dh's mum arrived, we spent £1.00 and that was on 2 books and a dvd that were in their charity sale section :T entrance was free and it was lovely and quiet as it was very grey and quite cold really so we got to wander round in peace and the kids had a quick play in their park and not another child to be seen the whole time! So a very LSD yesterday and we watched the dvd last night that we had bought so nice cheap entertainment :money::D. On the way home I lost DH who was following me in his mum's car ....he had decided to stop and the farm shop and spend £20 on meat! It came out of his money that his brother gave him for helping him to move though so I won't count that :rotfl: we had lovely minted lamb chops for dinner and we have ribs for dinner tonight

Won't be a nsd today if the car is completed before garage closing time, if it's not finished it will be a NSD :T (we will forget the fact that either way we face a great big bill at some point :rotfl:)

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the summer hols :)

  • Car came in at £253!!!! :D might sound like a lot to some but I was expecting three times that amount so I'm super happy! One tyre needed replacing (the only one not to have been changed recently and we got another part worn one!) Exhaust was fixed and all the other niggles and it sounds and runs much better now :T :j this also means I have money left in the fund to nearly pay for a years worth of tax :T yay!
