Morning
Well I have spoken to the kid's swimming school today and managed to change their swim day to a Thursday :T which is great news as midday on a Sunday meant we couldn't do anything before or after really. I've managed to get a slot right after school (once the holidays are over) so that will be much better timing for me. They still have to carry on for the next few weeks of this swim term as they are but early August they change :T
I was supposed to go shopping today but I don't really have any available cash atm, I have money from funds I could borrow to get the food in and pay it back but i'd rather just eek out what we have as I still have fruit & veg and a bit of milk left. I think tomorrow I will go as we will have run out of loo roll, milk and cereal by then. Just eeking everything out one extra day can save £10+ I find so well worth doing
My DS1 has invited his GF round for dinner tonight as they break up around lunchtime and her parent's are at work all day so I said she could come back here for a few hours. She seems a nice girl so i'm hoping they won't be up to anything in his bedroom  I can't believe DS1 will be doing his GCSE's next year I remember him on his first day of school still....so cute and small...!
All the kids break up today so I am having a rest day :rotfl: minimum jobs, and a day of chilling out before the next 6 weeks starts!
I was looking for deals for the holidays as wanted to take them all to a theme park. Must have been a while since i've been as prices appear astronomical to me
for 5 of us it's nearly 2 weeks food shop once petrol, food and parking are factored in. That seems rather a lot to me?! NT passes will be used I will find 3-4 places we fancy and go see them
I will have made my money back then so will be happy with that :rotfl:. My sister called me this morning and said she wanted to come visit us :T this makes a change as usually no one comes over to us (they must not like Essex??) and we have to go see them. After speaking to her my DH's sister messaged me saying she was thinking of getting a caravan near us on the sea front and could we come? I said to DH as it's so near i'd be happy to go for days out there but would rather come home to sleep to save money. AND then gently reminded him we are saving for a house :wall: I want to see dad and DH's mum and my mum (although i think she will visit with my sister..) and a few beach trips, and swim sessions and I was also thinking of roller skating/bowling and the cinema and a trip to olympic park and perhaps a day to london with museums and I think that will be all about we can afford comfortably without breaking into lots of budgets. As it is it will be a no save month I think so we can afford to do these things with the kids. I think after years of debt busting though they deserve it
Hope everyone is well

Morning :hello:
I'm being rubbish at updating on here. What with the kids off, DH always floating around and DS1 always stealing the laptop it's really hard. I must try more though as I need to at least keep the budget up to date and keep an eye on the banking!
Today I am going to have a quick clean of the house, start an A-Z of holiday ideas with the kids. I also need to pop to the bank as I've somehow damaged the little calculator thingy that enables me to log on to the bank :wall: I've done a quick check on my phone banking app but it's basic and doesn't allow me to see what's going in and out!
DH has been roped into helping his brother move on his first weekend off so this means we only get 2 weekends with him now when he finally breaks up at the end of next week. I am going to buy a family portrait session from group0n i think today as it's around £15 and you get one free print with that. We actually have NO pictures of all 5 of us together
we could never afford it when the babies were little (didn't think to look on group0n back then!)
I spent £92 on food yesterday but to be honest I am not sure I got 10 meals with it
DS1 was moaning (I was dropping him off to his GF's house after and he wanted to go straight there) and DS2 was throwing everything in so I was too busy watching him and DD was just wandering off talking to everyone that looked at her :wall: argh. I know I have enough to last until Monday at the very least and then I only need meals for Tues & Weds as we get paid on Thursday. So I am sure I can eek it out. I bought tonnes of fresh stuff, searching for all the unripe fruit as best as I could so that it lasts so I think we will be fine (think I probably spent £20 on fruit alone  an considering it was a1di I went to that is a lot :rotfl:) didn't get much veg if i'm honest as i've found we're not really eating a lot of it
we are eating loads of salad and fruit recently but the veg is sitting in the fridge for ages. I bought carrots, onions, courgettes as we eat all of those in bulk but the rest can wait for cooler days I think. And funnily enough in winter we swap to eating tonnes of veg and hardly any salad or fruit so I think we'll survive
. Snacks were kept to a minimum so that they eat all the fruit :rotfl:. I will make some cupcakes and scones though for lunches/snacks. We've also made more icecream :T haven't bought any now for over a month
. Yesterday whilst walking the dog we found a huge bush of blackberries all ready and ripe!!! Couldn't believe it! We had a little taste and they were yummy so might head back there at some point!
Something I was selling on fb sold immediately and then the buyer let me down, they just completely ignored messages etc so that is going back up this morning. I am glad i'm not in my friend's shoes, they sell things at this time of the month to pay for food and if people are letting them down they end up having to try all over again and putting off their food shop. Thankfully this was just spending money extra to the budget for the kids days out so not a huge loss but still annoying nonetheless.
Anyway finally I will update on budget
I saved £50 to the ISA so that is £100 this month
£300 short if I want to make my target next year. It will happen though so I will remain positive
I've rambled quite enough anyway so I'll leave you be and bid you all a good day in the sunshine :AMortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. J- £103.27, F- £115, M- £91.50, A- £100, M- £200, J- £200. J- £200. A-£200, S- £221.34. O-£200EF- £642.41/500

As I said I've messed up my budget somehow  but finally logged on to the bank this morning after only having basic banking on my phone (where the balance is never correct because it takes three days to catch up -grr) well i've still got £230 in there and wondering why. I think it's because my budget is telling me I've spent £100 extra than what I actually have (yay) so I will keep my eye on it in case I have forgotten a bill or spend that is pending but I might just have another £100 to send over to the ISA before the end of the month :j However I'm unsure how to rectify the ynab to make it right without throwing everything else out
All accounts have the right amount in (on the spreadsheet) as they do on the bank so if I change anything it will all be thrown out. I have obviously rectified it along the way without realising but I don't know if it will impact on next months budget now. Perhaps it's time to actually watch a tutorial

Well we had thunder and heavy rain this afternoon! Coupled with wrong time of month for me (me feeling sick and bleurgh) we've stayed in all afternoon. I took the kids to the library this morning and bought some more loom bands (with money from sales of old toys :money:) and also dropped off some clothes that I had sold via fb so have £10 in my purse now
. I have spent the afternoon laid on sofa doing 2 things 1- feeling sorry for myself and hating my ovaries. 2- watching ynab tutorials and dave ramsey y0utube videos. #2 was most productive :rotfl::money: and I now feel like I should re-start my budget (yes again *groan*) as there is a much easier way of doing it then I have done, of course.
In other news I have paid off all the credit cards :T only small amounts on mine really (well £100) and that was from DD's birthday meal everything else that has been spent on it had budget's allocated anyway so I just bought on the credit card and then paid back from different budget funds (in an attempt to get my credit score up). DH on the other hand.... went over his limit and didn't pay his bill which I thought would impact on his credit file so I got him to ring up and they've said no it won't as I sent a payment straight across for the full amount....we will see though. You really can't teach some old dogs new tricks can you
Anyway another quiet day planned tomorrow as i'm really not feeling too great. Then on Monday it will be cake making day and sorting out tickets for Tuesday so we can see Transformers at the cinema for ds2's birthday
(all budgeted for!)
