Thank you after 3 paracetamol i'm feeling slightly more human-like :T I popped to the 99p shop (big mistake) as we have a new one just up the road and the parking is free. I needed a new mini hand held shovel for the garden (other one snapped the other day :eek: ) and some wrapping paper for DD's birthday! £13 later......................OOPS. I had this in cash so it shouldn't affect the budget but I was hoping to keep hold of that money for topping up fruit & veg. Anyway did I tell you DH lost his phone and money in the middle of Wales? He's now asking for more money to replace what was lost -£20- and i'm not happy. So fed up of him drinking until he can't even remember what he's done the next day. FGS he's nearly 40 not nearly 20 (grrr)Mortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. J- £103.27, F- £115, M- £91.50, A- £100, M- £200, J- £200. J- £200. A-£200, S- £221.34. Good Morning!
Feel like I need some positives to start the day the right way (we'll ignore the spilt milk
)
- I have started sanding my dresser & table and chairs which have bugged me for ages
- I'm starting a course in September fully funded by HS on health and nutrition and am really looking forward to it
- Only 2 weeks left of school runs :T
- DH & DS1 are both home in 2 days
- I have had over 20 hours sleep in the last two days :eek: And am feeling a tad better today

So today I am waiting in on an order of paint to do my dresser. I bought with money from my spending money so it's covered in the budget. I will carry on sanding for as long as I have the energy to do so today as I hate that bit and would like to see most of it done before Thursday I think (that I hope is long enough to do 6 chairs, 1 table and a dresser??) If not I will rope DH or DS1 in when they return
:rotfl:.
Jobs for today as well as the sanding are:
Put a wash on (I will be so behind otherwise as DH & DS1 will be bringing back tonnes on Thursday! )
Put all the washing away already done! (I'm so slack at doing this
)
Check with a friend as to whether we are meeting up tomorrow (we were going for breakfast which will be nice, especially as I got the £5 to pay for it by doing a survey for them
)
Check banking and update YNAB.
Make a sweet & sour chicken in the slow cooker (today i'm cheating with a jar so nice and easy
)
Empty and refill dishwasher
Water plants in garden
Hoover
I hope everyone is well I will try and catch up later, got to go and sort kids out now for school. Luckily I did the lunches and bathed them yesterday and also laid out their uniforms, if I were only this organised all the time, this morning has gone so smoothly :T However I need to get myself showered and dressed (why do I always forget about organising ME :eek::rotfl:)Mortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. Sounds very positive start. Glad your feeling better today and hope you get your breakfast out tomorrow. When getting the kids ready and off to school goes well i really do think it helps with the smooth running of the rest of the day. Enjoy your sanding

Hi DFW
You days sound very similar to mine.
I am always fighting the washing pile, and often fall behind on the boring putting clothes away job.
Can't wait for school to finish in two weeks. Not really for the chaos the kids will cause, but just not having the whole boring school run issues and the constant fancy dress / lunchboxes / tuck money / football kit / swimming kit / lifts to sports events blah blah blah.
I also hate sanding, hubby goes mad because he is such a perfectionist.
, good to get a job like that done though, it will feel great when it is all finished.
I recently did that with all our door frames at home, they had gotten a bit bashed about and they look sooo much better now they are repainted.
Hope you have a had a good day. xxx0 -

Hmmm not got very much done have I
It's taken me ages to sand and paint ONE chair :eek::eek::eek: I think I will finish this one and put the chair back together and then wait until DH & DS1 are home
They are much quicker at sanding than me as I sadly realised 2 hours into sanding just the one chair! It took ds1 less than an hour to sand one last year when we did some :rotfl: He is definitely better than me at it!
I have had a quick tidy round and spent 45 mins on the phone to my DS(ister) who was worried about her dog (had no idea what to say as I have no clue :huh: but lent an ear anyway) and then spent an hour chatting to (nice) neighbours as they also needed a friendly ear after their eldest son was beaten up at the local park yesterday
This area gets worse and worse and so she had a good old moan whilst waiting for the police to come to take statements. So unfortunately my day has not consisted of many jobs but I can never say no to someone needing a shoulder to cry on (perhaps one of my downfalls....look where it got me with other psychotic neighbour!)
So anyway a cup of tea and a naughty chocolate bar
and I'll be off on the school run again! Am also hoping the paint on the chair dries a nicer colour than it currently is or I will have wasted my whole day only to start all over again :eek:! Finally got all my jobs done
sweet & sour was cooked on the hob in the end though not in the slow cooker
I'm meeting with my friend in the morning, she can only come over for a couple of hours so we're just going to sit at mine. I naughtily bought a table from her that she's selling too
In my defense it was a bargain at £5 and will look lovely once i've sanded it and painted it
Checked the bank again and am glad I did as something new was pending that wasn't showing earlier! The cheque that I paid about 4 weeks ago has only just gone in (grrrrrrrrr hate that!). I'm still waiting on my expenses to go in too which seems to be taking an awful long time so I will check why that is when I drop in the next lot of expenses this week :huh:
I will paint some more chairs tomorrow, need to take the table apart to do it in the garden as it won't fit through the door...think that part will have to wait until DH is home to help as it's super heavy.
All that sleep i've had over the last two days has meant I am not tired tonight now .....typical huh! xxMortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. J- £103.27, F- £115, M- £91.50, A- £100, M- £200, J- £200. J- £200. A-£200, S- £221.34. O-£200EF- £642.41/500

OOPS sorry I thought I had replied! D'oh!
My organisation only lasted one day :rotfl: this morning was back to running around like a headless chicken trying to do everything in timeSounds very positive start. Glad your feeling better today and hope you get your breakfast out tomorrow. When getting the kids ready and off to school goes well i really do think it helps with the smooth running of the rest of the day. Enjoy your sanding

I finished sanding the one chair and gave up for the day, new plan today was to sand just the parts I wanted bare wood (as wanted old pine varnish off to put clear varnish on) and I just gave the rest of the chair a quick rub over to take the shine off the paint before re-painting
anything for a short cut :rotfl:StressedSteph wrote: »Hi DFW

I am not a perfectionist unfortunately
and completely took the short cut today by sanding just the part I wanted bare wood and it STILL took me a whole day to do one chair :rotfl::eek: I must just be really slow?!
It does look much better though and I can't wait until the dresser and the chairs and table are ALL DONE
I did the boring putting the clothes away....was all looking great and clear until the latest wash dried and is now sat looking at me from the bottom of the stairs *sigh* :eek:Mortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. I was hoping to have a LSD but ended up spending £8 I hadn't budgeted for today! The window cleaner turned up and so I had to scrape together money to pay him! Good news is I logged on to my bank just now and £7.50 is pending to go in for tomorrow which nearly covers that unexpected spend :cool: (NT cash back finally getting paid!)
Tomorrow is my meditation group and I will need to pay her next week. She hasn't asked for any money (the lady running it) but I feel bad not giving her anything so will find something to give her
Today it is super duper WINDY!!! Is anyone else having problems with the wind? I've had to bring in 2 flower pots that were literally thrown from one end of the garden to the other, the recycling bins have all gone over and emptied out 3 times
it's quite scary!!! I hope it stops soon but has been going on since 3pm now! :eek::eek::eek::eek:
Anyway I have sanded/painted the 2nd chair (out of 6 :eek:) and now need to go and give it a coat of varnish before I lose all interest for the evening

It really is windy. OH has just been sent home from the port as his lorry will not be unloaded today because of the wind. Electric went off too!
Your chairs are looking great - keep going
