  • My neighbours woke me up at 6.30 this morning, so i'm in for a long day (feels like afternoon already to me!) ...this was the supposedly nice neighbours too. They are just so loud!

Anyway, I've done my banking for the week, have enough food money in there already so that's good. I've transferred all the petrol money out for the month already and put it in the "car" account. My thinking is if I don't use it all I will use the left over to go towards the tax/MOT that are both coming up in the next few months. I have transferred £50 to the ISA :T It was "spare" and I keep getting tempted to buy a greenhouse (super small one but still over £100 ) and so have moved it out of temptation. It's too late in the year to get full use out of the greenhouse is my reasoning so I will look for one later in the year/early next year and be ready for spring :)

I've a birthday party to go to later, both little ones have been invited. I have cards somewhere so will search those out and will put a tenner in from them both. I feel it's a bit stingy really :o but i've got 2 birthdays this month and need to buy cinema tickets and pay for a restaurant trip for DD yet . I might search out the present box too and see if I can find a small token gift to go alongside the money as they're quite close friends of DH and I don't want them to think i'm stingy. They will be spending more on inviting us than we are giving back if you see what I mean (it's at a soft play). Anyway I guess I ought to go get dressed and sort everyone out, just so tired and lacking in energy (again!)

DS1 is off early tomorrow too so i need to be up at 6.30 to drop him at school on time so no lie ins this weekend unfortunately :(

Hope everyone is well, I will one day get time to have a read around all my friends diaries and catch up, promise :)

    Time to start again :o
  • Hope you've had a nice day :) x

Thank you :) The party wasn't too bad, I thought it would be super packed because of the rain but actually there were lots of tables empty and a few parties going on but aside from those groups it was pretty empty :T It's not my favourite soft play area though as your kids can easily hide from you in this one and that's what my DD kept doing! I spent 10 minutes trying to find her for food time, then another 10-15 mins trying to find her at home time  My allergies also started off in there so it was quite amusing I expect for everyone watching I'd be *sneeze* and then call DD and then *sneeze sneeze* call DD *sneeze* and well you get it.... I think it was the dust in there that set it off tbh, it is quite old and could probably do with a thorough clean out :o No one else seemed to notice though so I kept quiet and told everyone it was a cold :rotfl:

I made a yummy Spag bol when we got back, nice change from the party food they'd stuffed themselves with and then we took the dog for a walk at 6.45:eek: they would both be in bed usually but after all the sugar they were bouncing off my walls (ds2 literally!) so a nice long dog walk and then a film was in order. :T

However I didn't think that through very thoroughly because they both went to bed at 9pm which is super late for them and then we had to be up at 6am this morning . I treated everyone to a hash brown at McD's restaurant :D and ds1 had a tea and wrap which then nearly caused WWIII in the back of the car because I hadn't bought the two smaller ones tea and bacon wraps :wall: TOO EARLY for arguing thank you, brats! :(

Anyway back home and I will see if I can take a pic of my flowers that are just opening up in my back garden this morning :T they look lovely! I think they are Gladiolus (sp?) from a quick g00gle search as I gave the box to my MIL as had too many :rotfl: I'm terrible with remembering names! So far I have 2 pink and one yellow one opening :T The birds have started using the bird feeder and bath I bought them too :) I love nature and being in my garden, roll on the days where the garden is bigger, and that said garden is on it's own in the middle of nowhere with no neighbours to disturb the bird song that I like listening to ;):rotfl:

  • Just looking at my ISA & DH's one. My one seems to add interest every month but DH's has only added interest once since we opened it? Slightly confused as to why but hoping the interest will be added on at some point. My one usually earns around £7 a month :T every little helps hey ;)

These are the savings amounts since March:

    March: £419
    April: £563.22
    Interest (April) £5.09
    May: £250
    June: £50

So I hit target on savings for 2/4 months :( If I keep this up i'll never have the £15,000 target by this time next year! I need to be putting £400+ away really each and every month.

On pay day my current plan is to put money straight into the emergency fund, the rental fund and all the other savings pots. Then through out the month I find the money for the ISA (as my money comes in in dribs after the initial pay day) I'm now thinking I may have priorities wrong  I think from September's pay day I will now put money straight into the ISA and then the rental fund and the emergency fund (let's face it if there was a REAL emergency I do have the £10k in the ISAs?) It earns far more money in the isa than the regular savers which is where my emergency funds and rental funds are so I suppose it makes sense.

I said September because I might carry on with the way things are just until I hit £1,000 on the rental fund (which fingers crossed nothing crops up between now and August's pay day will be next month) so I will have reached 1/3 of the money I wanted put aside in total for that anyway :T. The emergency fund will be up to around £800 by then too so a good amount and my plan is to still carry on with rounding down each week into that anyway. I also think i'm less likely to touch the money in the isa than the regular saver :o how often have i dipped into "emergency funds" for non emergencies.....too many is the answer to that! I really really want to buy my own house so I need to pull my socks up now on this and stop spending frivolously on rubbish :o Ok i've written it down now so you can all hold me accountable[STRIKE] when[/STRIKE] if I don't stick to it! :D

I'm unsure? I think it must be but I don't understand why they gave me interest just the once? It was written as "interest capitalisation" which didn't mean anything to me :o

  • I'm back up to 9 accounts :rotfl: I have just opened a new one for keeping kid's club money & clothes separate (the two categories can share an account) plus the Isa makes 10 accounts :o One savings account with lots of money from different categories was just too confusing for me. I am testing out having one account for 2 things though, so I will let you know how I get on. If it's easier than I thought and I don't get confused (as I used to before) then I may think about eventually just having the one account for everything.......

Could be that your interest is added on a monthly basis and DH's is annual?

Reminds self that really *must* transfer existing ISA into one that's paying a better rate that it currently is. Apathy is back.
  • Morning,

I'm feeling quite sorry for myself today! My sinuses are playing up massively and i've got jaw ache, head ache, ear ache, neck ache and a runny nose :( Been to pharmacy and got some new hayfever things to try as well as some paracetamol, hoping it kicks in soon! I sent the kids in today and have paid for hot dinners as I couldn't even muster energy to make a pack up :o how lazy :o

Yesterday I planted out my tomatoes which are way too late in the year to be going out :o i've not done them before (well aside from the one plant which was already flowering when i bought it, this year I did it from seed) and i've learnt so much from going wrong :rotfl: So i will know what to do next year anyway and perhaps 3rd time lucky (the one I bought as a plant died too :o ). Anyway none died over night so pretty good so far ;) and if they actually flower now i will be very surprised but hey ho, you live and learn. However the cucmber plants which also went out late have doubled in size over the last week :T they also have lots of yellow flowers on so am hoping we might get some cucumber from them :T I will keep you updated :D

I've checked banks and funds are low in the current account but that's probably because I put money away for the clothing budget, kid's clubs and also some into the ISA. I'd rather it be out of sight anyway otherwise i'd be spending it in the garden centre or homebase :o:D.

We're one week down on the 5 week month and I'm not quite sure how we will make it to the end
