Hopefully, my mattress will arrive before lunchtime today, very exciting. The bedding is stripped off and clean bedding is waiting for the new mattress.please-let-me-be-lucky wrote: »Gr0up0n had a good deal on S1l3ntnight pillows in the last few days. I paid for the rest of the mattress yesterday, and yes, now I will be getting a whole mattress rather than just 10% of it
The company were really helpful, I don't know why I'm surprised. They arranged delivery for today and when I explained I couldn't wait in all day for the mattress as I had to go to work the man phoned the warehouse to get the manager to over-ride the computer system and arrange a morning delivery :T I am hopeful that it will arrive soon and give me time to make the bed before going to work this evening.
Had a call from the estate agent yesterday just before going into the coffee shop. The buyer has said that exchange of contracts will happen today and complete on the 15th :eek: I was pretty annoyed as no-one has contacted me. I have always said I want three weeks from exchange to completion. There is a lot to do and I do not have the luxury of moving out of my parents house. I have to arrange my moving crew, sort out utilities, vans, packing and a myriad of other things and hold down two jobs. I wrote my solicitor a rather stinky email to the effect that I wanted a minimum of three weeks and what had happened to communication and my say in the sale. Very irritated.
With a view to having only three weeks left I am now looking at the remainder of stuff to pack and have started an essentials box which will eventually go in the car. The checklist has commenced...Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Honestly, what is the matter with solicitors? They don't seem to be able to do joined up thinking let alone follow simple instructions. AND they get paid stupid money - for being stupid I suppose.
Good news for the mattress though! It is one of my simple pleasures to slip into my newly made bed. Enjoy . . . and get a good night's sleep.0 -

Gosh, what cheeky blighters! They keep you waiting for ages, mess you around and then give you 10 days notice to move!
Glad you've stuck up for yourself Piq.

The mattress is here:j(although it says on the instructions no :jon the bed) Unwrapped and made up, Colin is already testing it out. It feels a lot firmer than it did in the shop, but I'm sure I'll get used to it very quickly
It came wrapped in two layers of very thick plastic, one blue one yellow. In true mse fashion I have cut them up into large sheets, ideal for wrapping ebay parcels!
I've had an email from my solicitor saying she will speak to the buyer's solicitor about the completion date. Surely there is some sort of negotiation/compromise on dates? Why should the buyer call the shots?Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

After a huge amount of research I found the best washing machine in my budget range. As you know I'm selling my hated washing machine with the house for £40.00 It takes forever to do a wash and is very noisy, ok whilst it is in a utility room but not once it's in the kitchen.
The cheapest price was on B00ts, I didn't know they did washing machines. I went through quidco so will get 3.5% cashback, plus 2014 clubcard points and £75.00 cashback from the manufacturer provided I claim by 31st December. How good a result is that for a bit of research? Feeling quite proud of myself. Long gone are the days when I just impulse bought on the credit card. The washing machine has been paid for from all my ebay funds.

I know very decent of me, clean sheets for a cat :rotfl:
I don't think we will exchange contracts today, surely someone would have the courtesy to notify me? After-all it's the point of not being able to pull out, quite an important part of the process I'd have thought.
Mum and Dad have already bought up about a year's worth of Dreamies, several tins of tuna and a box of cat food. As far as I'm aware Colin is only staying for a day. I'll need a hoist to carry the cat box :eek:Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
