  • Just recieved phone call from mortage company. Instead of the "yes, you've offically got a mortgage", we have a "it's been referred to another department". It's gone to risk assessment, because the garage wall shows progressive signs of deteriation. It's a basic garage with plastic sheet roofing, not integral to house. This is with our current lender; we are borrowing 50% of purchase price, have very good credit rating, (have consistantly overpaid our mortgage), and the land it's built on is worth more than we're borrowing. (frustated smilie). We'd even knock the garage down and rebuild it if that's the answer!

So no mortgage as of yet. Hopefully we should hear by Tuesday at the latest, but the nice man I keep pestering will push and try and get a decision on Monday. I could get to dislike weekends, people should be at work granting mortgages! ;)

This has become a quiet thread!

We still havent made a decision but we're crunching the numbers frantically. My wife is pretty set on the house which is the real hangup. The village its in we fell in love with and not many houses come up, esp in our price range.

    Long w/e of thinking ahead!

Well we are still waiting for our buyer to arrange his buildings insurance, it's a total nightmare! Our sol's rang his sol's yesterday to be told that the buyer tried to set up some buildings insurance but the insurance company couldn't understand him as he is indian, funny that our EA never has any problems. Anyway now his sol's have tried to set the insurance up for him but the company still needed to speak to our buyer as they needed some personal details so his sol's again tried to contact him but had no joy, so here we are at yet another weekend.

We really need to exchange early on in the week as we are supposed to be moving in our new house next Friday, we have time booked off work etc.

Congratulations michjoe! What a relief eh?

Well we didnt exchnage yesterday...so buyer took in bankers draft and why did we not exchange? Cos her sol wants confirmation from the mortgage lender that her funds would be here for Thurs!!! Why the hell didnt she request them last week like my sol? I told my sol to make sure everything was ready for then and her sol obviously didnt. Anyway my agents got onto her broker (attached to my agent) and he chased the mortgage co up and they say the funds were requested mon morning so should be fine. Sol is now waiting for written confirmation that this is the case...hope they have heard of a fax machine!! before they exchnage. Hoping for today so i can confirm removals.......its certainly been a saga!
